Another house comparison thread. I'm interested in your views please!

The area is identical for both as they're on the same road.

No 1 is lovely, the garden is such a big asset

1 is much better, the flow is nicer and it’s more interesting plus the garden is great.

This. I hate no.2s garden.

Northernlurker · 24/09/2022 21:09

One. Much better plot and bones of house. You can add value and have a really lovely home. Both are marked sstc though.....

RubyJack · 24/09/2022 21:10

Both say sstc

I cross posted

bringbackveronicamars · 24/09/2022 21:11

1 has a fabulous garden, but 2 is better value for all the space you get inside, the ensuite bedrooms, potential for 5 or 6 bedrooms if needed ... and I could live with less 'garden' now. Potted plant garden would work for me now.

superram · 24/09/2022 21:12

If money was no object, one. Two is very cramped and overlooked, the rooms are huge in one.

kegofcoffee · 24/09/2022 21:13

One, it needs more work but the plot is much better.

You can change the house, you can't change the plot.

LimboLass · 24/09/2022 21:13

The first one.

It has a lot more usable outside space and the rooms are generally bigger and lighter.

Not to mention house two has a conservatory. Anybody who builds a conservatory on a house deserves to be locked into it for eternity with the antichrist. Fucking hateful things.

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/09/2022 21:14

No 1. Much more spacious than no. 2 which is also horribly overlooked. The lack of privacy would be a dealbreaker for me.

Rina66 · 24/09/2022 21:16

2 - it's 450sq ft bigger for £100K less

ivykaty44 · 24/09/2022 21:21

Staircases can be changed

Abcdefgh1234 · 24/09/2022 21:33

Number one. Its outdated but you can change the look. So many potentials. The garden is stunning.

i dont like property number 2. The garden its not green enough and so many split levels and slope.

Onekidnoclue · 24/09/2022 21:46

One by a mile. Decor can be changed. The plot can’t be. Plot is vastly better for one.

CaptainMum · 24/09/2022 22:44

Number 1. Good size and balance of rooms, good flow and excellent mature garden.

MothsAndWaspsAreUsefulPollinators · 24/09/2022 23:19

On paper the second one is better (for me). But I've warmed more to the first one (for me) somehow. Obviously I would go and walk around and consider both as the pictures don't tell the whole story, as I am sure you have done.

If you don't have a gut feeling which one is the right one for you and this is why you are asking, then consider things like, without having to make any major changes and spend major money, which kitchen feels better for you to cook and be in and put your own stuff into and will it fit, which flooring through the home you like better, whether you will really use the conservatory and what for, which window dressings you like best (if they are coming with the purchase), whether you like the bathrooms (there weren't many pictures of these especially in house 1), which type of garden fits your realistic lifestyle in the property, and whether there is anything that really annoys you about either of them that you are trying to think won't be a problem but actually will be.

Antarcticant · 24/09/2022 23:22

I prefer the layout of no. 2.

Designhelp · 24/09/2022 23:24

Winchester is depressingly expensive

@LimboLass

Say what you mean child!!

🤣😂🤣😂

it's rare I come across someone else who has the same view on conservatories as I do!!

EA extolling their virtues, whilst I'm casting about for gives! & deducting the cost of getting it removed!!

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 25/09/2022 01:13

@TheJaguarWhoCameForTea

Are you selling one of them?

im wondering why you're asking as I can't see where the dilemma is if you're looking at buying?

I wouldn't buy either, I'd keep looking. But if it was a case of being given one of these but no option to choose any others, then 1.

2 makes me feel very claustrophobic!

at a quick glance & without knowing how the area compares...

I prefer this one

stormelf · 25/09/2022 08:16

House one. I prefer the garden

rockyg · 25/09/2022 08:18

No 1, looks like better sized rooms & prefer the garden

asparalite · 25/09/2022 08:20

House One

RedHelenB · 25/09/2022 08:21

Number 1 definitely

LynneBenfield · 25/09/2022 08:24

No1, assuming you can negotiate on price and have budget to update it inside a little. I prefer the more open plot and airier rooms.
