Social Housing Ranking confusing

Livinglife86 · 03/09/2022 22:15

Thank you for reading my post. Please could anyone explain what the council ranking numbers mean?

Example: 1-5, 6-10 & 11-20

I called the council and enquired however the operator said she didn't understand the ranking system either ☹️

I am currently in Band B the property I bid upon placed me at 11-20. I asked my Dad what this meant and was told "I don't have hope in hell..." however he admitted he had no idea how the ranking system worked.

Do I just wait for the bid to end then enquire again? I won't deny I feel a little dismayed as it was a lovely property and a new build in one of the nicest areas so it proved very popular very quickly 😣

@SummerSu23 am so pleased for you Flowers

SummerSu23 · 30/01/2024 20:21

@Livinglife86 @Stomacharmeleon Ahh thank you both so much! 🤍 I’ll let you know if I’m offered a viewing I’m assuming it’s going to happen. “It says 1-5 offered to you” and that I can’t bid x

Hi, I received this email and was wondering if anyone knows what it means? I am currently on 6-10 on the property, so I’m really confused by the email. Has anyone ever received an email like this? And what actually happened? Did you end up getting the property?

Omg! I’m in bucks as well and I believe you are referring to the same property as myself. I want that property so bad as it is a new development, good neighbourhood and closer to family. I received the same email that I’ve been well placed for it but I’m on 6-10, so confusing.

stomachameleon · 01/02/2024 07:34

@Tamimun it means that if those lower placed than you don't want it you may get a chance. There are at least six in front of you.

Oh! 😭 I had an email like this last yr and I ended up getting contacted and offered the property. I'm hoping this one means the same

Livinglife86 · 01/02/2024 10:02

@Tamimun once they send this letter it's usually on offer when you got to the bucks home choice website and attempt to bid do you get a message that says you can't bid as you have been offered a property?

With the first property I couldn't bid, there was a message that said the offer needs to be resolved. However, with this one I can still bid

It also still says shortlisting 6-10
I have placed bids on 3 other property since then and it says 1-5

Livinglife86 · 01/02/2024 10:59

That means you're shortlisted but not yet selected I hope you get it! Have You submitted the information they asked you for?

once you submit that I have a feeling it might say that you've been offered the property

I didn't waste no time submitting all the info as I was so happy to even get the email. I've been on the register for about 2 and half yrs and I'm band E

Livinglife86 · 01/02/2024 11:03

Wow band E and you have been shortlisted? That is inspiring! I hope you get it!

Omg does it take forever for band E to be housed? lol I'm getting worried now. I did get offered a property last year but I refused because of the area. My housing officer also said that being on band E and getting offers already is really good, but I don't understand how it all works. Is band E like the last one on the priority list meaning the lowest of priority?

Livinglife86 · 01/02/2024 11:32

Band E is lowest priority so your housing officer is right for you to be receiving offers is inspiring. It is very good indeed!

@Tamimun I was 6-10. I got the same email as you submitted everything straight away and the council told me I was first on the list and sent everything to the HA. I have to now wait up to 28 days for them to contact me. It says 1-5 on my homechoice now & “offered to you” I am unable to bid on anything else until offer is resolved. I went to have at the ones today outside I’m up for. Defo will not be refusing if I get to view one.

That's amazing!!!! Im soooo happy for you
Mine on the other hand I can still bid even after getting that email. But it still shows as shortlisting so fingers crossed

SummerSu23 · 01/02/2024 16:02

@Tamimun thank you so much I hope the best for you as well. It could still come through even getting that email is so good. Not sure if it’s the same ones as me but looks like they are building another new build next to it so there will probably be more available if it is.

Mine is in the new development in Taplow and I see they've now got another new development in Aylesbury so I placed bids on those

SummerSu23 · 01/02/2024 17:56

@Tamimun Mines Taplow too 😇 I’m not allowed to bid in Aylesbury only South Bucks.

Omg!!! It's definitely the same new development building I'm referring to. Wow! I drove around there to see what it looks like last week 😂🤣 I don't even know if that was the right place as it's so new it's not on the maps yet

SummerSu23 · 06/02/2024 14:55

@Tamimun @Livinglife86 @Stomacharmeleon I think I’ve got a viewing Thursday I had an assessment over the phone yesterday and the lady told me that I would be ok as long as no rent arrears which I don’t have. The strangest thing is it comes with no flooring or white goods.

The white goods I expected but I’m a bit upset about flooring as my baby is almost crawling there’s no way I can move in without it. I know beggars can’t be choosers and I’m fortunate to be offered this but a bit of cheap Lino would be nice. I don’t have enough money really to do this, is it quite standard for no flooring in council/HA properties?
