I love barn conversions but I have noticed a lot of modern barns being converted now and they are not particularly attractive from the outside! Often amazing on the inside though.

It looks like it’s a converted grain store so there would have been certain conditions on how it looks from the outside as classed as a barn conversion.

It's massive but some weird empty or big spaces. Why not separate dining room & it looks like it would be quite dark

That is not pretty!

If a client had a massive barn to convert then the planning dept could have given approval IF the materials used are similar to the existing building (and in keeping with the area)

On the other hand, architects should at least TRY and be creative.

I expect the person who designed this wasn’t actually an architect (happens all the time!)

I have noticed this trend. Looks great in the pics with a shiny super car, not so much in reality with a slightly dented, bird poo covered Volkswagen.
