Bathtub in a bedroom

Straw poll. Yay or nay? It's for a couples retreat Airbnb? Is it tacky or luxurious?

It's a no from me but they are so popular I fear I am in the minority.

If I really want to 'get it on' in a bathtub, I'm happy to do it in the bathroom rather than splash water all over a bedroom that, I assume, has carpet?

SoupDragon · 04/04/2022 10:31

No

SoosanCarter · 04/04/2022 10:31

No

HotChoc10 · 04/04/2022 10:31

I think it depends on the house. In mine (tiny little London terrace) it would look ridiculous and take too much space away for clothes storage.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 04/04/2022 10:32

I keep seeing this in expensive old homes on rightmove. It’s an absolute no from me… the damp! Probably okay for a short stay but clothes constantly getting damp doesn’t seem like a good idea to me.

Cuck00soup · 04/04/2022 10:32

No.

No.
Damp floors
Damp clothes
Damp beds
Steamed up bedroom windows
No.

Looks good on Instagram, pain in reality. I like a separation of church and state. And if resale is anywhere in the future I think plumbing in the bedroom would be a real black mark.

LemonMuffins · 04/04/2022 10:36

Absolutely awful and the sort of nonsense that puts me right off buying a house.

Bonheurdupasse · 04/04/2022 10:36

No.
I like the look but imagine that noone actually uses the bath.

Leggingslife · 04/04/2022 10:36

No

HellToTheNope · 04/04/2022 10:37

Tacky as fuck.

PrincessSpanky · 04/04/2022 10:37

An absolutely No from me. Why would I want damp bedding and clothes.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 04/04/2022 10:37

a hard no from me.

would completely put me off booking

NatriumChloride · 04/04/2022 10:38

Tacky. No way.

Jackiebrambles · 04/04/2022 10:41

I always think it looks quite aspirational but then I just think, doesn't everything get damp and steamed up??

My husband thinks it's ridiculous and specifically will not book a hotel room or cabin that has a bedroom bathtub.

Jackiebrambles · 04/04/2022 10:42

@Bonheurdupasse

No. I like the look but imagine that noone actually uses the bath.
I wonder if it's another thing to put yesterday's clothes on in the bedroom Grin
Cornettoninja · 04/04/2022 10:44

It’s a nope from me too. I don’t fancy a steamy, soggy bedroom and quite simply don’t see any point/need for it. Plus I like carpet in the bedroom and that’s not compatible with baths as far as I’m concerned.

I’m also not a massive fan of en-suites so was probably never the target audience for this trend!

MaggieFS · 04/04/2022 10:44

No.

But for a couple's retreat a luxurious tub would be a good thing. I'd prefer one in a nice big bathroom. Is that possible?

Igmum · 04/04/2022 10:45

No no no and no

Chemenger · 04/04/2022 10:47

No.

bigbluebus · 04/04/2022 10:47

No. I've never understood this trend.

TheDogsMother · 04/04/2022 10:47

Definitely not. I'd prefer a luxurious bathroom instead.

Soffit · 04/04/2022 10:48

My friend stayed in one of those. Her husband got drunk and couldn't locate the bathroom (they had only checked in that evening). He ended up peeing in the tub. Later on, when they relayed it to everyone back home, it was confirmed as a common occurence.

Sunnysideup999 · 04/04/2022 10:48

No! The damp - the mould - the condensation !
Why anyone would think this is a good idea is beyond me . If the room is big enough just add an en-suite
