Straw poll. Yay or nay? It's for a couples retreat Airbnb? Is it tacky or luxurious?

I have seen those - I am not sure what they are actually called as a combination but the step into the bath could be challenging for older guests.

Not in a home, but in a holiday let yes. It is totally different.

People are looking for an experience when they go away, there is a lot of competition and those with a USP will do best.

I have a couple's luxury retreat too and I would have done it if I had the room. I stayed in one recently and it had a huge copper bath in the bedroom. It was amazing. It also had an outside shower, which again everyone would scream "no" at in a home, but in a holiday cottage works brilliantly.

Nay, nay and thrice nay.

@Soffit I agree about older guest stepping into the bath which is really why I want a separate shower rather than a shower over a bath. The deep baths are bit taller but I think if someone struggles to get into a bath the height probably doesn't matter and they opt for the shower anyway. I've tried the layout so many different ways and I'm really struggling with a separate bath even one which is "short". These deep baths look cool.

Even on holiday, aren't we all meant to be saving energy and water and having showers?
Yes, I know I'm being a killjoy but if we want a future for our children and grandchildren, we do really have to act now.

@scottishnames I'm not sure how that's relevant at all! I agree we are in a climate emergency but I don't think people are going to stop bathing 🙈 To put your mind at ease, the deep baths use less water apparently and we are having a new more efficient boiler installed. I'm afraid we looked at alternatives to the gas boiler and there really aren't any for this particular property.

Less water (and, unless cold, less power for heating) than a longer bath, perhaps, but probably not less water or power than a quick, water-efficient shower.

Bathing to get clean, yes of course we will, but bathing as a holiday leisure activity in a bedroom?? Clearly from the answers to your post this IS some peoples' idea of fun but it's definitely not mine and it's not good for the environment.

But congrats - serious, I'm not being sarky - on the more efficient boiler.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. Smile
