About to put our house up for sale.. anyone else?

DomusAurea · 14/03/2022 08:24

We are taking the plunge and it's happening - we are selling our house (and relocating 200 miles away but that's another thread I guess) - anyone else? I could do with a collective handhold!

This is where we are now:

  • finishing the last small jobs such as painting a ceiling
  • having meets with estate agents for valuation
  • nervously searching rightmove for possible houses in our relocation area (there isn't a lot!)

Are you going for sale soon? Tell me how it's going!

(we are in the South East)

DomusAurea good luck! 👍 I know how you are feeling I too feel 🤢 😂 well another 9 viewings this morning, 3 more offers over....& nothing on rightmove so far today 🤯

ThatIsHowTheLightGetsIn · 31/03/2022 20:59

@NewHomeDream we also got turned away by a conveyancer today, feel quite rejected! How are they so busy with nothing on the market? Are lots going without being put on Rightmove? Apart from not really knowing if you have achieved the best price I could live with that, I don't really want my nosey neighbours to know we are moving until the moving van pulls up.

Photos booked for next week but weather looks crappy so might hold off, going to spend this weekend weeding and getting patio furniture out, probably in rain and sleet.

TheLadyDIdGood · 01/04/2022 07:48

Good luck op, I'm on same position as my house went up on Mon and there's 8 viewings booked for Sat! Spent last few evenings cleaning and decluttering and today will be the same. Going to see my lovely friend tomorrow and try not to fret over lunch.

TheLadyDIdGood · 01/04/2022 07:49

Panicking because I can't find anything, I'm almost wishing it didn't move so much or that I'm stuck in a long chain!

Doubleraspberry · 01/04/2022 07:51

We are 34 viewings in now. Today is our first proper second viewing. I just want an offer! Four more first viewings booked tomorrow.

missmeg3leg · 01/04/2022 08:49

Morning all! Good luck with today’s activities & viewings.....we’ve 1 more this morning & 2 booked for tomorrow.....EPC also being done today.

All has been going on while I’ve been on 2 days off from work so getting in the routine of vanishing! 😂 am working all weekend & have requested no viewings on my day off next week (selfish I know!) so I can have a day to myself!

BeryltheMenaceneePeril · 01/04/2022 09:28

@Doublerasberry
Looks like things are looking up for you. Try and stay positive. People's situations are constantly changing. Our current home was an unexpected purchase for us. We used to lust after a house up the road and would drive by just to look at it! We never actually went any further but one day we saw a " For Sale" sign further in the distance and decided to take a look, two
(manic) weeks later we had had an offer accepted. It was a very unexpected house move for us.
There will be people this weekend and next week that decide to move house. One of them may well be your buyer.

Can I join please? Our house went on 6 weeks ago and we haven’t got anywhere as yet. One viewing booked for next week and another might be tomorrow but I don’t know yet and we are away for the day so need someone to get the dog out. Odd market here with a few things either going straight away or not shifting.

I’m also involved in another sale that I have a share in due to a bereavement. 2 agents have been this week. Uncle was keen on Purplebricks but luckily I persuaded him to get another. Valuation higher than anticipated and the second guy has one down the road he has 32 viewings in the start of next week. I think that house may well go quicker than mine at this rate.

There's something really no fun about being the house that doesn't sell immediately in this market, isn't there? With people talking about over asking price offers on any old place, it is making me feel so negative about our house, yet objectively it's a really nice house and no one who's ever been to it can understand why it hasn't been snapped up. It has its compromises but so do almost all houses!

Yes really rubbish like it’s a personal failing ! Ours is on a main road and has a wrap around garden so we knew it would be harder. Couple of close misses where one loved it but other didn’t and both loved it but son decided not to move with but that counts for nothing . The only slight consolation is my friend’s hasn’t gone either and I could have sworn that would go straight away.

Uncle rang to say the other one going on in just over a week, I am quite convinced it will go before ours. Have to dig out all the paperwork for that now which is more complicated that’s going to be 2 estate agents and solicitor number 3 in my life (assuming mine eventually sells).

missmeg3leg · 01/04/2022 15:50

......update from me....we have accepted an offer £22,000 over today! 👍 now feeling very 🤢 need to find somewhere although EA have stressed to buyers we are looking, they are FTB & apparently pulled out all the stops to not miss out on ours after they had lost out on a few others, what a whirlwind week since going live on Tues...

No fun!

Looks like our second viewing went nowhere. Sigh.

@missmeg3leg congratulations!

Volterra · 01/04/2022 19:03

Congratulations Missmeg, fingers crossed for the search.

Sorry to hear that Doubleraspberry, really hope someone comes along soon. We have one tomorrow and one Monday. Not holding my breath.

SellingBee · 01/04/2022 20:37

Our photos were taken on Tuesday. I wanted lovely blue skies but instead we got grey and sleet! Doesn't seem to have put people off as we have 10 viewings lined up for Wednesday. We queried the fact that it was midweek but apparently it's because it's half term. Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone selling in these crazy times x

Monty27 · 02/04/2022 02:54

Photos went live on Wednesday. Open day tomorrow. 24 viewers. EA begged me to let someone do a preview on Wednesday morning. Reluctantly I did and they offered top of guide price. On learning about the open day they've increased that by 10k. WTA?

DomusAurea · 02/04/2022 15:40

Best of luck all - our open day was today. I am repeating the thread mantra (nerves of steel, skin like and elephant and BELIEVE) but failing on all fronts. I am catastrophising and decided nobody will ever buy our house. Oh groan I suddenly no longer want to move. I ate a full Hotel Chocolat selector box this afternoon. Stress eating already and really the thing hasn't started yet. I need therapy I think.

I am lost in gloom that our beloved home is one of those considered utterly unbuyable.

NancyNC2022 · 02/04/2022 16:41

Our house is due to go up Monday but we had 4 people to view who missed out on a similar property nearby recently.

Haven’t heard back from the estate agent and viewings finished at 12…is that normal or not a good sign?

SellingBee · 02/04/2022 16:59

@DomusAurea how did today go?

@doubleraspberry I'm sure that's not the case at all. Just needs the right buyer to come along.

We saw a property today. I had braced myself to fall in love and not get it but it wasn't half as appealing as it looked like in the photos.

DomusAurea · 02/04/2022 17:06

Doubleraspberry Flowers - believe

"it wasn't half as appealing as it looked like in the photos." - yep, I think these snazzy pics are a double-edged sword.

Hi Volterra - welcome :) - you are absolutely right, it's a really strange market - there is a house here in town which is not shifting and i cannot for the life of me understand why as similar ones had been snapped up pretty quickly - it's definitely not your fault :)
