Houses that are not selling

Crumpetwithhoney · 02/02/2022 21:52

Everyone knows how heated the propert market is and any remotely decent house flew off the shelves in days. However, there are one or two houses sitting on RM going stale whilst there isn't anything seemingly wrong with them. This is a pure nosy thread to look at these leftover house and why do you think they are not shifting ..
This is one in my area, lovely looking outside and inside, spacious, huge garden. I drool and dream over a house like this, no idea why it isn't selling www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114603749?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY

It's just off an A road, I bet that doesn't help!

This grade2 listed beauty in my village been on the market for months. A few similar properties (listed mansion) in that road sold in recent years. In catchment of outstanding schools. www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/115468637?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY

Peeeas · 02/02/2022 22:00

Yep, first one is practically on the roundabout!

WallaceinAnderland · 02/02/2022 22:02

No garage and right on the main road.

tilder · 02/02/2022 22:03

There is one near us. I presume it hasn't sold because:
a) it's over priced
b) it's an obvious flood risk

Notevenabit · 02/02/2022 22:06

Main road, cheap looking conservatory, new bathrooms needed, narrow/odd shaped kitchen for the price,

I'm not sure this will ever sell due to the location. It's a shame though.
I'm sure when it first came on nearly 5 years ago they were asking over a million.

ClumsyClaret · 02/02/2022 22:07

Hate the kitchen - too many bits and too small - who needs 4 reception rooms?

ClariceQuiff · 02/02/2022 22:09

Yes, I saw a lovely house near me that had been on the market for 2 years ... quick Google and the whole area is prone to severe flooding Sad

LemonViolet · 02/02/2022 22:10

First one has an odd layout too so would suit a family with quite specific needs - say a multigenerational family that want the separate entrances, bedrooms, bathrooms but shared kitchen facilities. Most people looking for a straightforward 4/5 bedroom house wouldn’t want that layout.

mrsbyers · 02/02/2022 22:11

It’s classed as stunning , Show home standard etc and in reality the decor is awful and needs money spent on bathrooms , floors and in a terrible location

Crumpetwithhoney · 02/02/2022 22:11

@LaBelleSausage that is an amazing property. What's wrong with the location?
@Trimthehedge how handsome is it! Love the inglenook fireplace, perhaps people are wary of a renovation project nowadays?

What’s wrong with the location? I looked on a map but there’s nothing obvious!
RussianSpy101 · 02/02/2022 22:13

@LaBelleSausage that garden is stunning!! Where is it?

Echobelly · 02/02/2022 22:15

This house isn't selling as I guess whoever buys it would want to remove that hideous front-of-the-house dormer. Mind you, if you have that sort of budget, presumably you can afford it. Also, suspicious lack of interior photos, I wonder what horrors lurk within!

LaBelleSausage · 02/02/2022 22:16

@Crumpetwithhoney @ShallWeTalkAboutBruno it's right by an industrial estate/airport owned and operated by Airbus. They build the wings for the fleet and then fly them out of their.

Loads of traffic, lots of noise, plus police, air ambulance and military training stuff.

Suspect the kind of people who want a house like that probably don't want to live on the edge of the industrial park.

CrinklyCraggy · 02/02/2022 22:16

I'd guess the road and/or the price, but also, it's one of those houses that's too nice to gut and start again buy not really "done".

Whilst nothing needs doing everything "needs" doing iyswim.

LaBelleSausage · 02/02/2022 22:17
@LaBelleSausage that garden is stunning!! Where is it?
Very close to Hawarden Airport

Dumblebum · 02/02/2022 22:17

It’s right on a very busy three lane major road and at the lights and the roundabout, no way I’d want to live in that location.

it seriously over priced for where it is op, they need to knock at least 150k of to sell it. Prices for properties in that sort of awful location should always be significantly lower. They’ve priced it like it’s on a leafy avenue.

The noise, the pollution, the danger for pets and small kids, even getting in and out of your drive every day, it’s a nightmare,

That’s why it’s not selling it’s majorly over priced for it’s location.

Trimthehedge · 02/02/2022 22:21

@Crumpetwithhoney maybe..its similar neighbour sold for 740k about 5 years ago albeit in renovated condition and better parking arrangements

That's a lovely house, just needs a golden retriever! If I ever won the lottery I'd love a house like this!
educatingrati · 02/02/2022 22:25

Just seen you pr update on location. Such a stunning house not sure it would put me off (oh and I'm weird and love the smell of aviation fuelGrin)

www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114317447?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY
On the months and reduced several times
The lication is good though and always been popular with families

LaBelleSausage · 02/02/2022 22:28

@educatingrati theres a great diner on the airport where you can sit and watch all the planes, DS and I used to go all the time.

I'm sure there's a price that someone would snap it up at, but it's probably depressingly low

RussianSpy101 · 02/02/2022 22:30

@LaBelleSausage ah that explains it! Thank you
