Houses that are not selling

Crumpetwithhoney · 02/02/2022 21:52

Everyone knows how heated the propert market is and any remotely decent house flew off the shelves in days. However, there are one or two houses sitting on RM going stale whilst there isn't anything seemingly wrong with them. This is a pure nosy thread to look at these leftover house and why do you think they are not shifting ..
This is one in my area, lovely looking outside and inside, spacious, huge garden. I drool and dream over a house like this, no idea why it isn't selling www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114603749?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY

Chommp that first one of yours... gorgeous and I'm sure it's not overpriced but the decor is very dated and that's going to cost a few limbs, if you're paying 2.5 million you're going to look for something immaculately modern or perfectly in period I guess i like it as it is

chompp · 05/02/2022 22:48

@PermanentTemporary yes I agree. I love the period features. But maybe too few bathrooms?

Prices round here crazy as you can see from the other two as well…

notangelinajolie · 05/02/2022 22:58

It's on the A50 and practically on a roundabout. It's got 2 front doors, no kerb appeal and needs updating. It's only redeeming feature is the back garden but only if you don't mind the traffic noise.

Chakraleaf · 05/02/2022 23:07

Nothing here is staying on the market. We are desperate!

chompp · 06/02/2022 00:02

Where are you roughly @Chakraleaf?

rosegoldwatcher · 06/02/2022 14:41

This is my favourite dream house without a doubt.
Sadly, it is at least 4 times my budget.
www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/77298463#/?channel=RES_BUY

My 5 year old DGD has assigned each bedroom to members of the family (including the in-law grandparents) and suggested sneaking a pound out of her mummy's purse to help us pay for it.

Mumsnut · 06/02/2022 14:56

Trim the hedge - that listed house has an incredibly dangerous stair to the basement without a door - see second pic. And most of the rooms that face onto the south-facing garden are 'offices' - loo, pantry and the like. Incredibly difficult to change anything in a listed house.

Buildingsite · 06/02/2022 21:04

@Mumsnut i think it does have a basement door, even if not, they should be allowed to put one in.. I think less people are attracted to period piles nowadays due to rising energy cost and renovation cost. It does seem to be in good condition though. @rosegoldwatcher this is an absolute WOW house, it shouldnt stay aroudn for long, there is just naturally less buyers looking in this price bracket.

Trimthehedge · 06/02/2022 21:16

Not sure if it has the basement door, but t
he sagging front brickwork may have put some people off though.. but it is a 300 years old house, all wonkiness is part of the charm for people who like this sort of property

Chakraleaf · 06/02/2022 22:01

@chompp

Where are you roughly *@Chakraleaf*?
Suffolk coastal
This has been on for ages:

Lovely house, but garden is small for size of house I guess.

This one has come off rightmove now but is still on the EA:

Gorgeous, but crazy expensive?

This one looks amazing in the pics but has been on for over a year: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/78670845#/?channel=RES_BUY
Gosh, the first and third are gorgeous. If only I had the budget for the third. I wonder why it hasn't sold, it looks like a dream.

chompp · 07/02/2022 11:28

I believe the third one has been fire damaged and they don't show the full house -- hence the "undergoing renovation" in the details when it looks like it's been already done.

I really like the second one but I wonder what's "wrong" with it that it hasn't sold.

They all look lovely on paper...

Whammyyammy · 07/02/2022 11:30

Can't see the attraction of wanting to live right next to a roundabout, off an A road in Leicestershire.....

BabyInTheJungle · 07/02/2022 11:38

We've got one near us that's nice, in a super popular area and quite well priced. It went on the market, sold immediately within a few days (as everything is doing) then the sale obviously fell through and it came back on a month or so later. Since then it's not sold. I'm desperate to know what the problem is out of sheer nosiness!

TobyHouseMan · 07/02/2022 12:01

I am constantly amazed at the lack of quality of photos in RightMove listings. I'd say a good 15-20% of properties look they were shot on a 1990's cellphone camera with vaseline smeared on the lens. If I used an EA that took photos like that I'd eject them in a shot.

Case in point - www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/65721668 First picture you see is utterly appalling!

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 09/02/2022 11:29

I'm not sure this will ever sell due to the location. It's a shame though.
I'm sure when it first came on nearly 5 years ago they were asking over a million.

It now says Sold STC, I think you are owed some commission
Grandville · 09/02/2022 15:52

This one is a lovely flat in a very trendy area of central Bristol. I think it's just overpriced though considering its over retail premises, has no outside space and no parking anywhere nearby.

viques · 09/02/2022 15:58
@LaBelleSausage that is an amazing property. What's wrong with the location?
@Trimthehedge how handsome is it! Love the inglenook fireplace, perhaps people are wary of a renovation project nowadays?
Look on google maps.there is a three lane main road and a traffic lights right outside the front gate!

LaBelleSausage · 09/02/2022 16:01

@viques it's right by Hawarden Airport/industrial park, so lots of road and air traffic and quite a lot of noise

viques · 09/02/2022 16:04

It’s sounding better and better! I see the Kew Gardens one is also close to a retail park, cars all day and deliveries all night!

Literally bedroom is right on the A419 dual carriageway!

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 09/02/2022 16:18

This is near Oxford: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114088181#/?channel=RES_BUY

They wanted £700k for it - now the price is hidden. No sign of interest.

Omg. It really is :o
dottydodah · 09/02/2022 16:31

Sometimes houses seem to get a bit "stuck" for whatever reason .Depends mostly what else is on the market for a similar or lesser amount I think. Usually EA will say its overpriced .At the end of the day it will sell ,but at the right price !

FindmeuptheFarawaytree · 09/02/2022 19:28

I quite like that Bristol flat @Grandville The area is ok but that street/lane it's on is not somewhere I'd want to be late at night, convenient for the hospital though!
