Houses that are not selling

Crumpetwithhoney · 02/02/2022 21:52

Everyone knows how heated the propert market is and any remotely decent house flew off the shelves in days. However, there are one or two houses sitting on RM going stale whilst there isn't anything seemingly wrong with them. This is a pure nosy thread to look at these leftover house and why do you think they are not shifting ..
This is one in my area, lovely looking outside and inside, spacious, huge garden. I drool and dream over a house like this, no idea why it isn't selling www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114603749?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY

There's one near me which is beautiful but has been on for several months. I actually drove past earlier and was really shocked...the photos showed a gently sloping driveway down towards the house with shallow steps next to the drive.

In reality the drive is on an incredibly steep slope and the steps 😱. If your handbrake failed that car would be smashing through your front window with force. And it would be a nightmare to reverse out of.

The photos didn't look distorted at all so I've no idea how they made the angles look so dramatically different...that was some fancy camera work.

I think most of the lingerers must have some sort of surprise not shown in the photos. If arranged a viewing on that house based on the photos then saw the reality I'd have written it off before stepping through the door.

On a seperate note I’ve not seen wallpaper borders since the early nineties op. 😃

@Buildingsite

www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114317447?utm_campaign=property-details&utm_content=buying&utm_medium=sharing&utm_source=copytoclipboard#/&channel=RES_BUY On the months and reduced several times The lication is good though and always been popular with families
Has the owner of this one not posted about this house and it not selling before. From what I recall it looks like they didn't take any of the feedback onboard

I’m 99.99999% sure the owner of this house posted a “why hasn’t my house sold?!?” Thread a few months ago- I recognise the kids bedrooms and the sex-pond on the decking.

She’s done a lot to update it from back then, she’s taken on a lot of the advice she was given. It’s a shame it hasn’t sold.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 02/02/2022 23:09

@ABCDEF1234 Nah, in the old photos there was some very individual wall paper in the big lounge, and they’ve tried for some kerb appeal at the front. I think they’ve spruced up the kitchen a bit as well?

Summersdreaming · 05/02/2022 10:59

This has been for sale since 2019 I think, last reduced in October. Interesting because of the location so there must be something very wrong for it not to sell-

Flood risk maybe as it's opposite that lake?

LifeWobble · 05/02/2022 11:22

Yes the one @Buildingsite mentioned was definitely the topic of a long thread a while back. They’ve definitely spruced the up the kitchen since then.

Anyway it no says SOLD STC so hopefully good news for them!

Maves · 05/02/2022 11:28

Because glenfield is a shit area...surrounded by the worst council estates Leicester has to offer facts as there is high crime rates. You can get something for the same price in rural Leic. Others are just overpriced

Tulipvase · 05/02/2022 11:51

Sometimes I think it’s due to the owners rather than the house. There is a house near us that has been for sale for years and basically one person doesn’t want it sell and makes it too difficult.

Summersdreaming · 05/02/2022 12:17

@ClariceQuiff nope I don't think so, they are as safe as you can get, other areas nearby flood from the river Roch but they are fine.

ClariceQuiff · 05/02/2022 12:21

Yes, I saw they were raised up from the road @Summersdreaming, so guessing that protects them. I take it the price is fair? I'm not that far away from Rochdale but on the white rose side of the border, and you'd get a detached for that price here - but it looks like a swish road in the pics with the lake and countryside views.

Summersdreaming · 05/02/2022 12:28

Yep, Rochdale is funny, very deprived in parts, but the villages on the outskirts are very in demand, good motorway links, good transport, beautiful scenery.. plenty of £1m+ houses. This house without the view would be £250-270 ish currently..

Summersdreaming · 05/02/2022 12:30

Other side of the lake Grin

HaggisBurger · 05/02/2022 12:33

Also I am assuming north facing? That’s a big no no at that end of the market. Looks like a total bargain to me as someone stuck in the London house market …
Bottom line it is overpriced if it’s not selling obvs

ShavingTheBadger · 05/02/2022 12:35

With the one on Hollingworth Lake, it could be because the area has got so busy. OH works for UU and said reservoirs don’t tend to flood (and it’s a resser, not a real lake), but the place was heaving in lockdown. A bank holiday and a bit of good weather and you can’t get in or out, a bit like Dovestones.

ShavingTheBadger · 05/02/2022 12:37

Is the big one the other side of the lake the one that was built by one of the owners of Carcraft @Summersdreaming?

Maybe people aged too much going through the 61 photos. The number of photos is excessive.

Summersdreaming · 05/02/2022 12:41

Yeah the tourists are a PITA for sure.

Summersdreaming · 05/02/2022 12:43

No that one is further round, and the pool is indoors I believe.
Wonnle · 05/02/2022 12:55

There's a bungalow near me that's been for sale for nearly a year , been through at least 8 estate agents in that time . The guide price keeps going up , it was way overpriced to start with . This on a small cul de sac where properties sell within days

stuntbubbles · 05/02/2022 17:18

There’s one in our target area that sells reasonably quickly but always comes back on to the market; I’d love to know what horrors the surveys keep turning up.

The first one, aside from being on an A-road roundabout, has that weird annexy extension plus the conservatory and poky kitchen, and tiled hallway – there’s nothing especially “aaargh” about any of it but it all adds up to a lot of work that needs doing, much of it structural or upheavaly, and at £700k who wants to do loads of work to a house to live on a roundabout in Leicester?

chompp · 05/02/2022 20:09

This has been on for ages:

Lovely house, but garden is small for size of house I guess.

This one has come off rightmove now but is still on the EA:

Gorgeous, but crazy expensive?

This one looks amazing in the pics but has been on for over a year: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/78670845#/?channel=RES_BUY

chompp · 05/02/2022 22:34

First one in thread is strange. Why the pics of toilet roll holders?!
