Some great progress here!
@Hothammock sorry to hear about your delays. How frustrating.

This is about as far as my kitchen fitting got today. They’ve asked if the templater can come after lunch on Friday.

@Terracedtardis love that blue!!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 10/11/2021 19:58

@Terracedtardis such a lovely colour. What worktop and wall colour have you chosen?

PoshWatchShitShoes · 10/11/2021 20:01

If anyone needs worktops, let me know and I'll pass on the details of the company we're now going with.

I found my favourite branded worktop on sale!! I've now paid the deposit. Apparently it's an annual sale by that particular manufacturer... I've had about 6 other quotes and not one company mentioned that!! Presumably they were pocketing the saving.

Terracedtardis · 10/11/2021 21:30

I’m having Calacatta gold Quartz worktop. Walls will probably be Blanc de Blanc by Valspar. Otherwise known as white 😂

PoshWatchShitShoes · 10/11/2021 21:50

@Terracedtardis we've chosen the same worktop. It's beautiful.

Definitely need to get a Valspar colour chart. I really like Blank Canvas and Cats & Dogs for our playroom 😊

MissFritton65 · 10/11/2021 22:16

Good to see some good progress! Our sliders have arrived and currently leant up against our garage.......hopefully they'll go in tomorrow if they haven't been stolen!!
Looking forward to a lie in tomorrow as not living on site and being woken by the 7.30 am drills!

RebelGeek76 · 10/11/2021 22:17

@LivingInABuildingSite yes got both wine rack and cooler either end of island, realise now it makes me look like I need rehab! Looking forward to getting some nice bottles to fill them with for Christmas.

@PoshWatchShitShoes I think it was called "white glitter", it has lovely subtle speckles and some that catch the light. I assembled the bar stools before picking DS up from nursery and she insisted we all sit around the island when she saw the new "table" lol!

@Hothammock sorry to hear about you door delays, so frustrating! Hope it doesn't set everything else back too much.

@Terracedtardis looks fabulous so far, fingers crossed they can get it all done in time for your templater. We had to sign a disclaimer as our wine rack got damaged and replacement didn't arrive in time so wasn't fitted on our island when they came but because we had end panels in place it didn't affect the measurements for the outer perimeter.

I'll be leaving DH to deal with plumber and electrician over weekend whilst I'm away though I can guarantee he'll be on the phone to me the minute they ask him something even though they're his mates!

MissFritton65 · 10/11/2021 22:26

@Terracedtardis love that colour; where is it from?

Callmejudith · 11/11/2021 08:03

I have about a billion men in my kitchen looking at this door opening. Such a farce

OP posts:
Callmejudith · 11/11/2021 08:40

@Terracedtardis that colour is beautiful. Fingers crossed they crack on with more cabinets today.

So good job I lied to the foreman about door install day as the base wasn’t high enough. So they’re rectifying it today ready for install tomorrow. I am so excited about having doors even though the garden is a disaster zone.

LivingInABuildingSite · 11/11/2021 09:03

Good luck with the opening getting sorted today Callmejudith!

So lovely to come down to some natural daylight in the kitchen this morning, albeit a bit cold now as they work with the back door open.

Just checking that it’s reasonable for me to specify no smoking anymore while they’re working, now it’s open to my house & we’re non smokers? Only one young lad I think smokes, I’ve seen him out the back and not said anything and he’s not here today but prob best I mention it before he comes back/someone else comes who smokes? They can out the front if needed.

Found out I have a plug socket where I really don’t want one! Will see half of it sticking out the side of the fridge. Not simple to remove apparently as can’t just hide cables in walls without at least a flat plate over it to show they’re there. Hmm. I actually would go as far as ripping out the plaster board and somehow removing the cable it would bug me that much, will see if they come up with a solution.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 11/11/2021 09:07

@LivingInABuildingSite we've had old sockets filled in and painted over without plates. The electrician needs to do something to the wires first, but then they put something (bonding?) over it. I'm in the "keep adding more sockets where I've forgotten them" phase 😂

I'd wait till you see someone smoking there and just say "please can you smoke out the front"

PoshWatchShitShoes · 11/11/2021 09:09

What's on everyone's to do list today?

Mine is:

  • finish the count of sockets and switches and order them!!
  • pay for kitchen handles
  • order some fabric for reupholster
  • confirm mirror splashback order and templating date
  • make some wall colour decisions 🙈
Hothammock · 11/11/2021 09:24

Mine is register the appliances for their guarantees.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 11/11/2021 09:28

@Hothammock something I've never got around to doing 😂 Must remember this time!!

Indecisivelurcher · 11/11/2021 09:36

Today I'm :

  • waiting for the chippy to arrive so I can pin him down regarding my utility cupboard
  • hoping the cupboard and skirting get done
  • hoping my kitchen cupboards turn up!
Callmejudith · 11/11/2021 10:53

DH just sent me a video of the oven working HOORAH so impressed with how quickly they sent someone to fix it.

@LivingInABuildingSite light makes such a difference doesn't it!

@RebelGeek76 it looks amazing, love the floor! enjoy your weekend away!

we have built the shed/log cabin in the garden. It looks better than I thought though we have built it very close to the back fence and still need to paint the outside Grin. Probably should have thought about that beforehand! Electrician is coming today to leccy it up and then I will do the floor (vinyl) tonight. This means all dp's shit stuff can move to the shed and free up the lounge and the dining room for us to start thinking about how we are going to decorate them as they won't be changing in the plans.

pondering deinstalling the top floor bathroom this weekend as that room is becoming my study. Only problem is it has one of those old saniflo loos and I suspect the bottom bit is full of undesirable crap (quite literally) so might leave that one to someone elseGrin.

Paid for another load of rubbish to go today - I think our 'disposing of rubbish' bill is in the thousands and we've not even started the buidling works!

hopefully still on target to get plans in before end of this month

MissFritton65 · 11/11/2021 12:55

My husband has just been to the house and there are 17 men on site and it's all go!
Walls are being knocked down and the bathroom has been ripped out; it's certainly moving on.

LivingInABuildingSite · 11/11/2021 13:29

MrsF - sounds amazing!

Callmejudith - yey for working oven!

Sadly they’ve put the bit of boarding back up while they work in there making dust etc, may ask for it down at weekends.

Cat was enjoying nosing out there I think and is now meowing at the bit of board 😂

Kitchen guy has sent me pics, happy with it all in theory, think we need to order by Dec 17th to guarantee this years prices, which is fine as we can store it in the space where it’s going to go, just need to find out if we have a plasterer (messiest trade ever IMO) booked/expected at any point.

LivingInABuildingSite · 11/11/2021 13:29

Oh and Rebel - have a fab weekend away!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 11/11/2021 14:03

That's all so exciting @Callmejudith @MissFritton65 @StrongArm

I'm still admiring my new windows. 1 done, 4 in progress, 11 to start, then 4 set of French Doors that are still in the workshop awaiting glass!!

Also, I think I've chosen a light switch/socket. I wanted flat ones, but our back boxes are shallow. They look the same as the existing ones, but are better quality... I think 😆 🤦🏼‍♀️

The windows are gorgeous @PoshWatchShitShoes

Whoop for 17 builders on site MrsF!

@StrongArm sounds like good progress. We have a saniflo in the loft and I hate it. The churning noise is bleurgh.

I'm at work having major palpitations because the door company have turned up this afternoon to do the install. DH is also freaking out because he hates being in charge of this type of thing. I'm not going to be home either until about 10. Please let them be ok!!
