Loving all the progress photos today!

Terracedtardis · 18/10/2021 20:14

So jealous of you with kitchen cupboards going in!
This is us today. I’m not even sure what they are doing tbh 🤦‍♀️

I’m not sure the steel reinforcing should be touching the plastic underfloor heating, it could squash the pipe with the weight of the screed on top ? It should be held up off it with spacers.

The last one I did didn’t have any steel in , just screed on top of the underfloor pipes.

Callmejudith · 18/10/2021 21:16

I’ve just sat in my kitchen for an hour staring at the cupboards. I’ll be back to moaning tomorrow I promise.

Plumbers came over to investigate this mysterious leak which is causing issues with heating. Looks like they need to go under the floorboards thankfully not in the new kitchen

I'm thrilled to see the kitchens get installed @Callmejudith and @RebelGeek76. You can really start to see the spaces they will be.

@StrongArm I'm another nervously awaiting quotes..

@wonkylegs I love the pitched roof. That will be a gorgeous extension.

MissFritton65 · 19/10/2021 09:33

All go here this morning; we have 12 workmen on site! Still no heating but the current view is the new boiler is faulty as everytime it is switched on the electrics trip so awaiting Valiant engineer.

Callmejudith · 19/10/2021 14:16

So exciting @MrsFritton!

Had to go on an adventure this morning to find screws for the door handles as the ones supplied were too short. Came home to a almost built utility room.

I forgot somewhere to put the food bin oops

I'm getting really sick of having builders in my house 🙁 Just want it finished and done now. They're really not being bad I've just had enough.

Hothammock · 19/10/2021 14:48

@Indecisivelurcher I completely sympathise. I feel like I am on the brink most days. I can't sleep at night and am waking at 3 am regularly stressing. The house is so grubby and the kids neglected due to weekend painting, ordering... I look unprofessional at work because I am dusty, tired and in a constant state of distraction. Then the builders just swan about with no apparent sense of urgency. Going home to their clean and tidy houses with no worries about maintenance as they can do it themselves. I want to tie their shoe laces together as a prank.

Snort! Grin

Callmejudith · 19/10/2021 15:16

@Hothammock I found mediations on audible really helpful at 3am. I’ve never had the need for one in my life before! Also carrying a notebook everywhere and having it beside me at night to jot things down

Terracedtardis · 19/10/2021 15:29

Our builders haven’t turned up today because they are getting their cars serviced.
Seriously! How stupid do they think we are? They came first thing and picked up their tools which they clearly need for another job. I’m furious. The head guy says we aren’t delayed even though we are 6 weeks behind their initial schedule!

Indecisivelurcher · 19/10/2021 16:02

That's infuriating @Terracedtardis! I said to ours at one point that I was struggling to find the line between being a doormat and being a dickhead. They did listen and were better after that.

We are 2 months into a 6 week build with a month to go I think.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 19/10/2021 17:03

@Hothammock sympathies, I know the feeling. I'm so jealous of my colleagues who go home and don't have building works underway 😂 🤦🏼‍♀️

How infuriating @Terracedtardis!! That's ridiculous they've disappeared off your job. Hope they're back tomorrow!!

Indecisivelurcher · 19/10/2021 17:05

I'm not expecting to sleep much tonight, tomorrow is the fateful day that the builders 'make the floors good'. And I still don't believe it can be done! Neither do the flooring company, so am under instructions to email photos over for quality control. It's also my Dd's 7th birthday and I need to make pancakes for breakfast in the dust bomb site of a kitchen, somehow.

MissFritton65 · 19/10/2021 17:06

@Terracedtardis that is so frustrating; I just wish they would be honest! We have made progress today - most of the scaffolding down so they could put in the single storey roof timbers and the plasterers have started on our bedroom and dressing room including the mezzanine storage area for my shoesGrin!

I love this thread. 😀. I couldn’t do what you lot do…. Pay vast amounts of money out and be at the mercy of builders. Don’t think I’ve ever seen any largish building works finish on time. Builders know that once you start there’s no going back and it takes as long as it takes, which is not good for the people living in the house ……

Good luck I’ll be watching with interest 🤞🏼

Callmejudith · 19/10/2021 17:44

Oh wow MrsFritton your place is ginormous!

@Terracedtardis absolutely infuriating. I’d be raging.

@Indecisivelurcher everything crossed for the floor

@Callmejudith that kitchen is looking amazing! 😍😍
Ours was a single fronted detached and will be double fronted with the extension at the back so it is a huge job and on the whole our builders have been great but I don't have any patience!

PoshWatchShitShoes · 19/10/2021 17:55

Beautiful @Callmejudith 👏 So lovely to see a new cooker in place 🤩

Callmejudith · 19/10/2021 17:58

Thanks we are super happy. We had two missing doors and no splash back but I think that’s pretty good going.

Indecisivelurcher · 19/10/2021 18:06

@Callmejudith such a lush colour!

Indecisivelurcher · 19/10/2021 18:40

I seem to have the most massive fascia boards in the world. Ffs...

@Indecisivelurcher they do look large - is it the camera angle?
