How is market nearby you in July? I haven't seen any house come back from the end of June people missed the stamp duty deadline.

The market in my local area is just dead. Only one new house added to rightmove in two weeks.. Lots overpriced house sit there for ages & refused to reduce.

Bonkers still

lastqueenofscotland · 28/07/2021 17:19

I’m south Manchester. It’s insane here. Anything with a garden is flying out for really good money

OpenTheBloodyWindow · 28/07/2021 17:21

Almost nothing coming on, anything that does is selling within a minute.

Our stamp duty holiday thing ended ages ago and it hasn't made much difference.

I live in daily hope that today will be The Day Our House Comes On but it never is Sad

Camandmitch · 28/07/2021 17:21

Very little coming on the market where I live and what does is stupidily expensive. Similar to pp, only really overpriced stuff is hanging around. I'm trying to buy as a FTB and completely priced out now of the area I rent in and another town that I thought would work. Quite upset about it all really. Had a bit of a disagreement with DH last night as he is being completely unrealistic about what we can buy and is insisting the market will crash and we'll magically be able to buy something he considers decent Hmm

Lampzade · 28/07/2021 17:22

It has definitely slowed down in some areas.
However, in the leafy green suburbs the market is still buoyant, but many prices have been reduced
I live in South East

eurochick · 28/07/2021 17:23

Dead. Nothing new coming on at all. The same few houses are just sitting on the market.

(London/Surrey borders)

imamule · 28/07/2021 17:26

dead near me, what's on is still overpriced but has been reduced.

OpenTheBloodyWindow · 28/07/2021 17:27

I could have bought about 20 suitable houses if it were not for my DH's unmanageable expectations Hmm drives me mad

PhilCornwall1 · 28/07/2021 17:36

It's crazy down here and selling quickly.

FurierTransform · 28/07/2021 17:39

Houses for sale have plummeted, especially in the mid range (3bed semi). Seems to be a few more 4bed+ detached.

It's worth reminding him, unless you're putting down a very big deposit, a crash isn't good for FTBs either as it usually leads to stricter lending criteria and bigger deposits required.

It also doesn't bring much onto the market as only those who really need to sell will in a crash.

DarkDarkNight · 28/07/2021 18:07

It has slowed down in the last couple of weeks, it was crazy prior to that.

Camandmitch · 28/07/2021 18:15

@userchange902 yes, I've told him this a million times.

readytosell · 28/07/2021 18:21

Where I'm selling in Midlands, very very little coming on, everything still selling quick (except for vastly overpriced or something quirky about the house/location).

Where I'm buying in the North, same story. Very desirable location. Just hoping my chain doesn't fall apart as if it does I'll just sit it out and wait another year.

AGreatUsername · 28/07/2021 18:26

I’m in South Wales and there’s little coming on, but anything that does is gone in days. The overpriced chancers still sit there though. Luckily I’m not even thinking about selling but I still like to play Rightmove Wishlist every few weeks and pretend I’m rich 😂

Livingintheclouds · 28/07/2021 18:31

Busy. No big influx of properties due to sales failing because of stamp duty - I never bought in to that, and around here the prices are such that it would be a nice saving but not a deal breaker. I’ve noticed a couple houses come on at amazing prices though - SW London grid of streets of pretty much the same style Victorian terraced houses selling in the past year for £900-£1m, and the most recent three have jumped, one at £1.15m (sold) and another at £1.375m! As I just completed on mine last week I’m not sure what makes the latter worth £400k more! It hasn’t sold though. There are fewer coming on to the market which will keep prices up. Late summer you’d expect a slowdown anyway.
I planned my move two years ago and feel I was forced to buy in not my ideal area simply because of the frenzy. Houses were getting snapped up so quick it became not so much a search for the ‘dream home’ as ‘it will do’ house. My search area kept on getting pushed. I’m fine with what I bought, but I made more compromises than I wanted to.

FuzzyPuffling · 28/07/2021 18:32

Ridiculously busy. North Cornwall. Most stuff isn't even getting onto Rightmove and most of it is sold in a couple of days.

Same, everything going for over asking price and final sealed bids.

We moved here two years ago and there’s no way on earth we’d afford it now, our next door neighbours house (semi, exact same layout as ours) has just gone for £100k more than we paid Confused

mayblossominapril · 28/07/2021 18:39

It did settle down a bit here (N Yorks) a few weeks ago but its gone crazy again. Anything with a garden and parking under £250K is fought over, upto £500K goes fast, there's a lot on over £500k they are sticking a bit. Very little coming on the market, lots of people moving into the area as well.

ballsdeep · 28/07/2021 18:39

Really stagnant here. Most of what's on is ridiculously over priced and the new houses coming on are those that were sstc a few weeks/months ago

FoolsAssassin · 28/07/2021 18:43

Quieter the last couple of weeks (south coast) and all 5 we have looked at where we are looking further up the country are still on the market with one reduced l

HmmmmmmInteresting · 28/07/2021 19:47

Hardly anything coming on to the market. Anything that does is snapped up. There are a few stubborn languishers-( the one who bought three years ago, did nothing to the house, it has no garden to speak of and they want £200k more...I'm thinking of you) who are just chancing their arm.

Are you in the business, because your budget can't be that wide!
PickAChew · 28/07/2021 19:51

Good stuff is being snapped up. The rest is languishing, like it always has.

SpeakingFranglais · 28/07/2021 20:14

Nothing on the market here, but anything had decent is still snapped up.
