Support thread - the countdown to June 30th.... will we /won’t we make it???

So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

@Panda368 ah I see. Yes that seems doable, as the properties are small. I have my movers a couple tentative dates and luvkiky they were able to pencil me in, but wouldn't confirm until I exchanged (on my sale that is). Everything going in t storage until next purchase so trying to figure out what we need for the next month! My daughter has a piano exam in a couple weeks so we need to have her keyboard (luckily it's not a whole piano 😆)!

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2021 15:43

Zero movement on anything again today for us!!! Buyers solicitor still ignoring our solicitor.

@coffeequeenindevon I hope it all ends up ok

SpnBaby1967 · 07/06/2021 17:09

WE FINALLY EXCHANGED 🥳🥳

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 17:10

Brilliant news @SpnBaby1967! Many congratulations 🥳

SpnBaby1967 · 07/06/2021 17:10

Completion on 25th June.

So relieved, it's been a heck of a journey with a lot of stress. Hoping it all goes to plan now.

SpnBaby1967 · 07/06/2021 17:19

@coffeequeenindevon that sounds like an absolute nightmare with your buyers. I mean, why lie? It would all get found out in the end obviously.

Cocoaone · 07/06/2021 18:03

Congrats @SpnBaby1967 ! So pleased for you

@coffeequeenindevon Can you threaten to pull out if they don't hurry up, or do you think they'll turn round and say 'ok!'?

@Panda368 That sounds possible. Can you put the feelers out now via the EA so it's not a mad scramble? I imagine the removal companies are chokka for the next few weeks. We are hoping to move ourselves with a van, but we shouldn't be completing our house sale on the same day as we buy the new one, so that gives us some breathing space

Haven't heard anything from our solicitor today. I'll need to chase him by the end of the week to see if he thinks 30th is still possible. Technically we can exchange and complete on the same day, but we'll need at least 3-4 days notice to get the cash out of savings etc - and I don't want to do that and forgo any interest etc if it's definitely not going to happen

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2021 18:11

Congrats @SpnBaby1967!

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 18:25

@Cocoaone, that’s exactly what DH wants to do but the whole thing has been a nightmare from start to finish and I just want to move and do fear they’ll walk away. I’ve never really felt that they loved the house just that it was in their price range in a pricey market (we have renovated to a high spec but it’s a funny shape and more overlooked than lots of similar properties which was reflected in the asking price).

Dinosauraddict · 07/06/2021 19:20

Congrats @SpnBaby1967. That totally sucks @coffeequeenindevon - have you heard any more this afternoon?

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 19:49

Sadly not @Dinosauraddict, other than confirming that our solicitor hadn’t been made aware by the buyers’ solicitor either.

Dinosauraddict · 07/06/2021 19:54

Have you told them you won't reduce price? I hate buyers that mess you around!

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2021 20:08

That’s so naughty. How much of a reduction do they want? X

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 20:28

They haven’t said, just that if we don’t meet 30 June they want a reduction to make up for the fact they’ll have to pay the full stamp duty. It’s ludicrous- every delay has been due to them. We thought it was the fact their solicitor was being slow but now we know it’s them dragging their feet so they can sell the flat which we hadn’t been told about. We accepted their lower offer as they were chain free and we saw value in that.

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 20:30

EA has supposedly told them that there’s no way we will reduce but I am never 100% sure he’s telling me the truth. After all, slightly reduced commission is better than none at all.

Dinosauraddict · 07/06/2021 20:51

Honestly that's shocking @coffeequeenindevon I'm so sorry.

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 21:16

Thank you x

Potterurotter · 07/06/2021 21:27

Another day another rollercoaster. EA called saying vendor threatening to put property back on the market. We had a terrible conveyancer who did nothing, the case has now been handed to someone else who thankfully is on it but will the vendor hold their nerve? Signed all documents tonight scanned back and posting in the morning to conveyancer next day delivery. New conveyancer has done more since Friday than previous one in a month. I can’t take this stress there are still outstanding enquiries on our sale Sad

StrongTeaDropOfMilkNoSugar · 08/06/2021 07:16

@coffeequeenindevon Sorry to hear it. It’s shocking they can try and hold you to ransom like that. I hope they’re just trying it on and remain in the purchase when you decline their proposal. It’s not like they’ll be able to buy somewhere else now and beat the stamp duty deadline!

We’ve been ready on our side to exchange for almost 2 weeks now, but found out that our seller only returned his signed contract to his solicitor yesterday. I think it’s ambitious to assume we’ll exchange today, but keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Luckily he’s decided that his purchase now isn’t connected, so should be a chain free exchange, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much. Still apparently aiming to complete on 22nd…

BollocksToRain · 08/06/2021 08:25

That's awful @coffeequeenindevon :(

We are attempting to complete this month (sellers). We've been ready for ages but the buyer's solicitor appears nowhere despite being the ones pushing to do it by 30 June.

The buyer has told us he wants to exchange next week and complete the week after but our solicitor has heard nothing from theirs so tbh until the point that we have got the contracts, I'm not sure I will believe it

Panda368 · 08/06/2021 09:27

I've caved on my 'no chase till Wednesday' resolution and have asked my solicitor if she has finally received the last 2 docs she needs from our vendors solicitor.

I've given up on finding out whats happening with our sale for now, its just too frustrating.

FerretFumbler · 08/06/2021 10:46

I’m about to cave too @Panda368 and give my solicitors a call.

I’m also worried our buyer is going to want to suddenly renegotiate the price. They’ve got me over a barrel though so I’ll have no choice.

SpnBaby1967 · 08/06/2021 13:31

Hopefully this group will get some more exchange news today. Buying/selling a house is so stressful, now I remember why we havent done it since 2006.

FerretFumbler · 08/06/2021 13:58

2002 here! Pretty sure all I did then was fill in a form and hand over some money!
Certainly don’t remember any of this nightmare!

snazzlebee · 08/06/2021 14:14

Good luck everyone, and agree with everyone to keep chasing!

We're having a paperwork nightmare... their solicitor says they've sent responses to enquiries last Tues (but by POST!), ours say they haven't got them... so now we're hoping they'll send them digitally asap.

But I have a feeling nothing will happen on our case until Monday now as conveyancers are up to their eyeballs with completions etc at the end of the week.

Nothing else we can do but wait now. It's so demoralising and frustrating.

Hoping everyone else has better luck this week!
