So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

Ah congratulations to you too @Dinosauraddict hope the takeaway was good. Here’s hoping completion and move day goes well all round and a few more get over the line next week.

Gettingonabitnow · 05/06/2021 14:06

Ah brill @Dinosauraddict! 👏🏻

SpnBaby1967 · 05/06/2021 18:42

God, it's such a stressful business isnt it. There must be a way to make this more simple. My solicitor is frustrated by sellers solicitor as they have always raised issues at the last minute and the bloody rent charges they are stressing about are from 1905 SEVENTY YEARS BEFORE MY HOUSE WAS EVEN BUILT!!

Hoping and praying for a smooth exchange on monday, my grey hairs are seriously showing now

Gettingonabitnow · 06/06/2021 07:22

Anyone else wishing the weekends away so the whole process can start again?! It’s no way to live is it!

Newhousehope · 06/06/2021 09:31

Still checking my emails @Gettingonabitnow. JUST in case some fool is working on the weekend and will send me something vital to progress. 🤣

coffeequeenindevon · 06/06/2021 13:03

@SpnBaby1967 I had a similar problem when I bought my first ever property. Solicitor was obsessed with the fact that the house was built on a plot that used to be something to do with cars and therefore there may be lead batteries or something under the house, despite the fact the house was built before the car was invented Confused

FerretFumbler · 06/06/2021 18:37

Anyone else wishing the weekends away so the whole process can start again?!

Yes! Checking my emails regularly just in case!

Dinosauraddict · 07/06/2021 06:05

Good luck today everyone!

Cocoaone · 07/06/2021 06:16

Here we go again! 18 working days to go...

Good luck to everyone waiting for something (anything!) today

Livingintheclouds · 07/06/2021 06:35

Yes I need some miracle. My EA has gone on annual leave now, he says he's handed it over to a colleague, but they won't be as invested in the sale progressing (as presumably they won't get a cut of the commission). I thought they had a sales progression person but I've been dealing with the first agent (he had said they pass you over once survey has been done, which I had almost two weeks ago). Meanwhile most of my furniture is going today- some to auction, some to friends, some sold - including my bed and sofa. Dogs are getting suspicious.

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2021 06:55

Good luck everyone 🤢

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 07:13

Good luck everyone. 🤢 is exactly how I feel too.

Panda368 · 07/06/2021 08:10

I'm trying to promise myself I wont chase anything until Wednesday...but it's so hard not doing anything and just waiting at this point.

I spent part of the weekend on Which? looking up cookers for the new kitchen.... but it all feels so far off.

I'm terrified currently with any delays that our 103 year old vendor will die before we manage to complete and we will have to wait for probate.

overwork · 07/06/2021 08:22

I quite enjoyed the weekend, now it's back to incessantly refreshing my emails and the solicitors app desperate for progress. My normally very laid back partner refused to walk past the new house yesterday incase it tempts fate and is trying not to get overly invested in it. Hope that we all get some positive news this week (and yes to trying not to chase till Weds @Panda368, I'll try that too!)

Elmrosie · 07/06/2021 08:24

Can I join in please?

We had to break the chain on Friday. Our buyers and their buyers were ready to exchange, with completion on 16/9 - our buyers stood to lose school places with no chance of moving the kids schools for 18 months once set. There's no way for them to move any later, as there's no removals available. The person we're buying from is refusing to complete until 23rd, because she wants carpets fitted in her new house, with a couple of days to check out the work. We don't know if she's actually checked that there's removals companies that day, but we can't find any. It's really making us question if we will pursue the purchase, because while we like the house there were a fair few compromises that we made on our tick list thinking that we'd be able to keep sake and purchase in synch AND we're now finding out that there's a restrictive covenant that might make it harder to address some of the issues.

We've got an Airbnb lined up for a week, and I'm going to be phoning letting agents as soon as they open.

What a nightmare - good luck to everyone hoping to exchange/complete today!

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2021 08:34

I’m emailing our solicitor at 9am to ask him to get some exchange and completion dates thrown up and down the chain, we are still waiting on a few bits but I think it will help focus everyone! X

Didicat · 07/06/2021 08:34

So I’m driving out signed copies of contracts back to the solicitors this morning.

Husband is going to move all the money back into accounts ready to send to the solicitors this evening.

I kept looking at the Rightmove advert yesterday I am so desperate to just move in and get over this period of my life.

Having a birthday weekend away at least took my mind off it all for the weekend.

Nice to see some people graduating and exchanging giving hope to the rest of us!

Panda368 · 07/06/2021 08:51

I'm also terrified currently that we will finally get dates agreed with about 3 days to spare before the cut off and then can't get movers...

We would 100% DIY it in this case though assisting with moving all our shit at 5 months pregnant isn't my ideal situation....

Is this something you can get the rest of the chain to agree to if movers are all booked up especially if movers wont take bookings before you've exchanged?

Livingintheclouds · 07/06/2021 09:05

I doubt it Panda - do you mean everyone being nice about timings (so you may still be moving out after your official completion)? I did a DIY move first time I sold and embarrassingly still had a couple van trips to do when the buyers showed up with their moving truck (blocking the whole street).
I have broken the chain with my sale. I'm moving in to a hotel then expensive airbnb (I live in a holiday destination) for two weeks with a third week booked just in case. Then I had a panic at about 4am this morning as my seller has been MIA and if this purchase falls apart I really am up @#%&'s creek. I have dogs and am.lucky to have found a airbnb place that will take them but it's costing £800/week! If I also miss June 30th I'm minded to renegotiate sale price - the survey said all the original windows are not fit for purpose and the rear deck is completely rotten. I'm willing to overlook these to speed things up but if it drags beyond June I'm going to try and get some money back.

Panda368 · 07/06/2021 09:59

@Livingintheclouds I meant more that the chain might agree to hire vans and move themselves if they can't get proper movers booked in the worst case scenario.

I'm pretty confident we can be out by official completion time even if we have to move ourselves - my partner has family locally who's garages we can dump stuff in during the week before if we really need to.

I know our buyers are moving from a small 2 bed which means there is only so much stuff they can possibly have....Plus all white goods are included in our sale so none of that to move.

Their buyers are moving from rented so might have more flex-ability/overlap with getting everything in.

We can't break our chain as it is the bottom of the chain that's holding everything up - we are moving into a chain free house which is getting cleared next week.

Im just fretting we will technically be able to get over the line in June and will then will be scuppered because someone can't get movers booked for the date we all need.

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 12:47

I have just found out that my chain free buyer actually decided to sell their flat and has been stalling with the purchase of our house to try and get that through first. I’m furious 🤬 God knows wheee that leaves us!

Gettingonabitnow · 07/06/2021 13:01

@coffeequeenindevon omfg are you serious?!!! Has it sold? That’s so naughty.

coffeequeenindevon · 07/06/2021 13:04

They apparently have a cash buyer. They’ve already started asking us to reduce the purchase price if that means we don’t completed by 30 June. We are bending over backwards (moving into rented) and every delay has been their side, so no way!

Didicat · 07/06/2021 13:07

@coffeequeenindevon why do people think it’s okay to just lead people on and lie to people.

Sorry you are going through this..... fingers crossed it all get sorted soon
