Support thread - the countdown to June 30th.... will we /won’t we make it???

Didicat · 25/05/2021 11:40

So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

congratulations @coffeequeenindevon

people who have exchanged - when did you find out that it had all gone through? was it at midday or just a random time of day?

I've asked our agent to do some legwork and find out what the hold up is for us. I'm not too worried but given my solicitor said she thought we would be exchanged by yesterday afternoon I'm starting to get a bit antsy...

Newhousehope · 24/06/2021 13:23

@HumourReplacementTherapy

What's your position again *@Newhousehope* ? Are you hoping to complete by 30th? If so get on it today.
Vendors hoped to but we never stipulated that was possible. I think it’s more of a case of if we can we will try. But if not, we’ll move at some point 🤣
Newhousehope · 24/06/2021 13:24

Congrats @coffeequeenindevon🥳🥳

Whenwillthishappen · 24/06/2021 13:33

Congrats @coffeequeenindevon !! Amazing news!! You thought all was lost a day or so ago..and now look!

Didicat · 24/06/2021 13:56

Congratulations @coffeequeenindevon!

RumblingTumTumTum · 24/06/2021 14:01

congrats to everyone who got over the line today

we also just exchanged. Solicitor called me to say the buyer wanted to do simultaneous exchange and completion tomorrow. Then as she was on the phone to me, buyer's solicitor emailed to say 'if you catch me in 20 mins we can exchange, otherwise I'm going home' (fgs!) so solicitor put the phone down to me, got on the phone to her and exchanged!

we complete tomorrow hopefully

we used a different firm of solicitors to the last ones we used when buying and I have to say, what a difference. These guys have been absolutely brilliant and were not that much more expensive than the last lot we used who were quite frankly hopeless.

still got one more to sell and then buying the bigger house so we're only part way down the road sadly!

Ccoffee217 · 24/06/2021 15:27

@coffeequeenindevon my fellow coffee lower biggest congrats!! Enjoy the moment and your drink Smile

10YellowTulips · 24/06/2021 15:31

Congrats @coffeequeenindevon - what a turnaround!

Congrats also to @RumblingTumTumTum

@HumourReplacementTherapy - have you completed yet?

@Panda368 it took about 24h to find out. Was told on Friday it would happen on Monday so I assumed it would take place in the afternoon once my funds hit their account. But then there was some confusion with the vendor's solicitor and then it changed to Tuesday morning. Then there was more confusion about the completion date that had to be cleared up and finally I got "the call" around 3pm Tuesday. So stressful!! We're meant to complete tomorrow so I imagine it will be the same thing again.

10YellowTulips · 24/06/2021 15:37

@RumblingTumTumTum the right solicitor is so important.
I chose my one based on a recommendation from a neighbour who said this guy was really fast.
I have mixed feelings about him, through much of the process the communication has been poor and I've had to chase him. But now that it really matters he seems to have pulled his finger out and we have gone from looking hopeless a week ago to having exchanged on Tuesday and completing tomorrow. So perhaps I will use him again.

snazzlebee · 24/06/2021 15:37

Congrats for all the exchanges! Such good news, and so positive to see.

We gave our approval to exchange at 1pm... still silence. Only three properties involved. How long is this likely to take?! The suspense is killing me, I want to start being able to make plans.

Emmajane88 · 24/06/2021 16:07

Exchanged yesterday in the end....! Completion tomorrow... apparently before 1pm but don't know what actually happens before then! Like, what do the solicitors do between now and then? Is it just a case of the vendor surrendering keys?

x

allmycats · 24/06/2021 17:33

Exchanged Monday just gone. Completing 29th. Hope so many of you get it over the line. Our buyers were cheeky sods. Told us they were in rented as the woman had sold to a cash buyer so they had to move out. Found out Monday morning that her sale had not completed but was due to that same day or Tuesday. Raised absolute stink, told EA it was all off if they did not exchange that day. Miracle occurred and exchanged about 2 hours after my rant. Even our solicitor called them lying bastards.

Befals · 24/06/2021 17:36

We've finally exchanged with completion set for tomorrow, woop woop! Luckily were in rental so now have a month to gradually get sorted and move (although paying more rent than we'd expected too Angry) feel sorry for everyone having to try and juggle removals etc. with such little notice.

peonies · 24/06/2021 18:02

Still no exchange here ☹️
If it doesn’t happen before the weekend I think I’m going to have a nervous breakdown!

Livingintheclouds · 24/06/2021 18:26

Excellent news for so many today! I'm starting all over, lost almost £5k in fees, I'm in an expensive holiday let as I had assumed I'd be completing by 30th. Now my solicitor has told me six weeks for next purchase. Scrambling to find a months rental.that will take dogs and not totally wipe out my renovation budget.

Newhousehope · 24/06/2021 18:43

We were never in the running for June but when it was mentioned I got hopeful 🤣

DD class bubble is now isolating 🤦🏽‍♀️ So no hope now. Mid July we’re looking at. Which isn’t a million miles away in essence. Just £3.5k away 🤣

Panda368 · 24/06/2021 18:48

Finally an update from our solicitor - apparently our buyers solicitor has asked to exchange tomorrow so 😬 🤞
I’ve got the day off tomorrow to start packing but I will definitely feel better once I get the confirmation it’s gone through

Didicat · 24/06/2021 19:20

Lots of positivity today seems quite a few have past the exchange goal post - congratulations!

Commiserations to those still undergoing the frustration and nerve wrangling fingers crossed it happens soon.

Ccoffee217 · 24/06/2021 19:34

@Panda368 good luck for tomorrow! We are also hoping it'll be tomorrow, solicitor said they are just waiting for true deposit to clear from the buyer (not sure how long it'll take to clear!) and then we can exchange, would be great to do it before the weekend!! Confused

OUB1974 · 24/06/2021 19:46

We have exchanged on our purchase today (sale was finished last December and we've been staying with family). We found out yesterday we were in a chain of 3, as we thought our sellers were getting a new build, but it turns out it's their sellers who are. But anyway, it's all done now for completion on Wednesday. We dont have a mortgage so the funds are with the solicitors ready to go. Cant get removals until the following week but we will be going round for a takeaway next Wednesday! Good luck to everyone else.

BrieCrackers · 24/06/2021 20:39

Congratulations everyone who has made it so far, and fingers crossed for everyone else for the next few critical days.

We finally exchanged on our purchase today to complete tomorrow. Our sale exchanged and completed yesterday. It’s been a rough ride but we’re so relieved we made it just in time.

Cocoaone · 24/06/2021 21:36

Congratulations @HumourReplacementTherapy! We completed today too - super early - 9:30am! I didn't even know it was possible that early

@coffeequeenindevon this is amazing news! Hope the packing has been going ok

Congrats @RumblingTumTumTum - were you already packed?

@Emmajane88 The solicitors will send the money to other solicitors and pay mortgage fees etc. When it's all done, the transaction is 'complete' and they tell you to get the keys 😁

Keeping everything crossed for you @Panda368 and @Ccoffee217 🤞🏽

Didicat · 24/06/2021 21:40

@Ccoffee217 your buyer must have gone the slow route, I went to the bank paid £35 and it was in the solicitors bank account and acknowledged in under 20 minutes. Frustrating when time is short and people are not going the extra bit to just get it done. I drove to the solicitors to drop off the contracts rather than post them. Had to wait 4 days for snail mail postage from Chippenham to Swindon, I could have walked it there faster!

Congrats to @OUB1974 and @BrieCrackers

Nice to see so many progressing to the end goal!

Didicat · 24/06/2021 21:43

@Cocoaone Congratulations that is so early I will be super excited if we manage to complete that early in the day, as I want to get some bits done before the kids arrive back from school.
