So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

Big hugs to everyone.
I’ve still not exchanged. Still waiting.
Don’t know how my marriage is surviving this. I’ve been so grumpy and snappy towards my husband, basically blaming him fo everything just because he is there and I need to vent!

Potterurotter · 23/06/2021 20:44

Well the day seemed to be going from bad to worse with buyers solicitor not responding then saying eventually they need time to ‘review file’ and it likely wouldn’t make deadline. Then dh lost his shit threatened to pull out altogether quite seriously and next thing they say they have requested the funds. If it helps part of that was the estate agent which is a large firm saying if you don’t sort it we won’t recommend you to buyers. Our solicitor says she is hopeful will happen before deadline. I am at my wits end with it as is dh who came home in a foul mood. We’ve contracts for sale and purchase to be sent in the post tomorrow, so god knows if we will make it/it will happen on 29th?! I’m getting to point where I am just expecting worst and anything better than that is a bonus.

coffeequeenindevon · 23/06/2021 20:54

@Newhousehope you might be right. I think the solicitors are at their wits’ end. Our usually brilliant solicitor sent us our financial statement earlier and it was riddled with errors down to the wrong VAT rate. Balance due to us was £100k out! DH and I are both accountants so spotted it immediately but it was a rare misstep, and a fairly major one, from a usually brilliant solicitor.

coffeequeenindevon · 23/06/2021 20:55

@FerretFumbler tensions high here earlier too. DH was trying to be calm about everything which just wound me up further.

FerretFumbler · 23/06/2021 21:13

@coffeequeenindevon
My husband makes me feel the same! No I don’t want to fucking calm down!! I want my solicitor to do his fucking job and do it now!!!

FerretFumbler · 23/06/2021 21:15

@Panda2021 so sorry. What is the plan now? Can you salvage anything out of this??

gelatodipistacchio · 23/06/2021 23:03

In a surprising twist, my sellers have now offered to sell to me before the end of the stamp duty holiday if they can exchange on their onward purchase by then.

This means that my uncertainty will continue to at least Friday, possibly longer.

While this whole process has been horrible, I'm constantly grateful for having a brilliant solicitor and sellers whom I truly believe are lovely and honest people acting in good faith.

It's very difficult to remind myself that it's all very likely to fall through in the end. This entire process is so traumatic!

Ccoffee217 · 24/06/2021 06:51

@gelatodipistacchio sounds fairly promising! I hope this works out for you.
We are also feeling like Friday is THE day now. Solicitor has drawn down the mortgage funds so we can still complete on the 30th, so now it's just a waiting game. We're now also a chain of 4 when before we were a 6, the bottom 2 have got tired and managed to exchange with a cash buyer now left at the bottom.
There are now 2 mortgages in our chain, praying the other one has drawn down funds already but this is now becoming less and less likely to happen!
The worst part is we're supposed to be moving next weds and I can't even tell my work!!

Gettingonabitnow · 24/06/2021 07:11

Morning

@FerretFumbler @coffeequeenindevon same in our house, I’m borderline psychotic at the moment.

Some good news stories on here though, looks like some situations potentially working out.

I’m going to chase up the chain in front of us today, a week before we start sofa surfing as a family of four. I’m dreading finding out any update, I don’t think it’s going to be positive.

X

JaffacakeJanine · 24/06/2021 08:57

Hmm apparently by some miracle we are completing on the 30th?!? I am doubtful it will actually happen but we shall see. Haven't had exchange documents or anything as of yet, maybe it's going to be an exchange and complete on the same day type deal? Not sure how possible any of this is with the last day for mortgage advance being yesterday Confused I can only presume the solicitor has asked for the mortgage advance already. Crossed fingers, after waiting since September I bloody hope so!

Ccoffee217 · 24/06/2021 09:03

It makes me laugh that a few of us ladies are now in the same position where the mortgage has been drawn down for completion on the 30th but yet we still haven't exchanged.

Why does is feel like exchange is simply impossible? What on earth are these solicitors doing if they're not doing their job? Why is the process so absolutely ridiculous that we now all find ourselves in this stupid position? And what the hell have they been doing for the last however many weeks that now makes it all such a rush!?

Panda368 · 24/06/2021 09:17

Good luck everyone holding out for exchange today. 🤞

Whenwillthishappen · 24/06/2021 09:20

Part of me thinks solicitors don't do much work at the outset as they don't want to waste time and money if the chain falls apart when surveys come back etc...then mad panic rush when they realise everyone still wants to buy!!! I seriously think this is how some solicitors operate.....in our chain the solicitors at the bottom took 6 weeks for the searches, where as our solicitor gone it done in 10 days?!?!?!! Good luck everyone. Looks like a lot of exchange and completes happening on 30th!!

Didicat · 24/06/2021 09:25

Good luck everyone!

@FerretFumblere @coffeequeenindevon @Gettingonabitnow I’ve been up since 5:30 can’t sleep still. I too feel very sorry for my husband, what with it being the time of the month and house stress He is probably going to need counselling poor chap as usual taking it in his stride!

Panda2021 · 24/06/2021 09:47

@FerretFumbler sadly nothing can be done, need to pay all the bills owed and start unpacking , can’t bring myself to do that yet.
Good luck to everyone and really hope everything works out by end of month !

snazzlebee · 24/06/2021 09:55

Top of the chain now threatening to pull out if we don't exchange by lunchtime... we're only waiting on confirmation the bank will provide the funds for Monday competition.

EA is on the case with solicitors but this last minute stress is horrible. Have to hope it's an empty threat... because I don't imagine anyone will be able to do anything to make the lender go any faster :(

FerretFumbler · 24/06/2021 09:55

@Ccoffee217 I think exactly the same.
Certainly in my case, which began in February(!) my solicitor has left everything to the last minute. Enquiries sent with 2 weeks to go, lies (from which side I don’t know) left right and centre. You have had nearly 5 months to do this!!!

Potterurotter · 24/06/2021 09:58

As if luck could get any worse, needed to post documents to solicitors first thing, post office was shut and remained shut. It’s never shut. Had to drive to the next one whilst on call in my day job! Couldn’t make it up.

Gettingonabitnow · 24/06/2021 10:16

Chased our EA for an update first thing, no one has returned my call yet, feel sick that it is going to be more bad news x

Newhousehope · 24/06/2021 11:52

Spoke to my solicitor Monday PM, following a call from vendors EA for an update.
Said he’d chase up the other solicitors.

When and who do I reach out to for an update?!

HumourReplacementTherapy · 24/06/2021 12:23

What's your position again @Newhousehope ?
Are you hoping to complete by 30th? If so get on it today.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 24/06/2021 12:29

Good luck everyone DaffodilGin
Its completion day for us! Solicitor phoned as I was posting....... Funds have been received and we're just waiting for them to hand keys in at estate agents Smile
We're not moving until Saturday but I'm going to shift some stuff myself today as we're on an hourly rate with the removal co so might as well SmileSmileSmile

coffeequeenindevon · 24/06/2021 12:59

Crazy day here as WE HAVE EXCHANGED!

Thanks so much for all the support and especially to @Didicat for bringing us all together. Got to get on with packing now but will sit down and catch up with everyone’s news tonight with a glass of wine 🍷 x

HumourReplacementTherapy · 24/06/2021 13:05

Yay!
Congrats @coffeequeenindevon

FerretFumbler · 24/06/2021 13:12

I have a contract of sale in my inbox between me and my new house. It’s not signed, but does this mean I might have a chance?
Nothing about my sale so just don’t know
