Support thread - the countdown to June 30th.... will we /won’t we make it???

So next week is June and the date is looming large! Wiltshire council are being particularly slow and searches not due back till 14th. Offer accepted early March.

36 days and counting between me moving house and a new kitchen and me moving house and saving hard to buy a kitchen in about 2 years time.

Anyone else being to feel the desperation kicking in just to all it all done and dusted!

I've had the all important phone call - we've exchanged :)

Completing Friday.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you still waiting.

gelatodipistacchio · 22/06/2021 15:40

@Whenwillthishappen thanks - and same to you!

GrapefruitTsunami · 22/06/2021 15:51

Congrats @10YellowTulips! So pleased for you!

Finallygrowingup · 22/06/2021 16:01

Congratulations!

And hang in there re thursday exchange!

Befals · 22/06/2021 16:10

Still waiting to exchange Angry we're ready, our seller's are ready, it's the solicitor for their purchase that's being rubbish. They're having to get ID again for one of the vendors because whatever they had is out of date. WTF... also chasing up some other info they'd said they already had last month. Aim is still to complete on Friday, even if we have to exchange and complete on the same day. Let's see if they pull their finger out and get themselves sorted in time... All costing us money on rent as we don't want to give notice until we exchange, let alone the stamp duty if we don't complete in time.

coffeequeenindevon · 22/06/2021 16:41

@Befals. Similar story here. Per the EA everyone is waiting on one of the solicitors who has gone AWOL. Either that or the EA is talking bull (again). There has been A LOT of misleading going on.

Befals · 22/06/2021 17:06

@coffeequeenindevon I've spoken to the vendor, their EA and our solicitor and they're all saying the same thing. Not sure if the top solicitor has mislead the middle solicitor, or if they/the vendor wasn't pushing them enough to make sure they would be ready to complete before end of June.

We put a note through the seller's door last week just to make sure we were both being told the same thing. He's fuming and sounds like he's given the EA dealing with his purchase a lot of grief over it - although to be fair they recommended the solicitor to their seller and get a commission from them so need to hear how rubbish they are.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 22/06/2021 17:06

Same 🤨
Vendors vendors solicitor hasn't responded apparently. Sigh.

Whenwillthishappen · 22/06/2021 17:10

We have exchanged!!!! Complete 29th. It was all very sudden at the end of the day so it can happen late for all those wondering. Good luck to everyone still waiting....I am keeping everything crossed for you!

coffeequeenindevon · 22/06/2021 17:12

Congratulations @Whenwillthishappen!

Fuming now. I am SO sick of being lied to. I don’t know if it’s the EA, our buyers or their solicitor but someone is just making stuff up.

Panda368 · 22/06/2021 17:20

Asked solicitor about exchange and got the below reply. She tends to be a bit cryptic but can anyone shed light on what this means?

“The buyers' solicitor is waiting for confirmation of funds from the lender and once in she will exchange, this is the only hold up now“

Does this mean it could be any time??

coffeequeenindevon · 22/06/2021 17:27

It does sound promising @Panda368. Hopefully the lender will release funds tomorrow and you can exchange 🤞🤞🤞

Panda368 · 22/06/2021 17:30

@coffeequeenindevon well that would be more than ideal and possibly record time to go from no date and potential chain collapse to exchange in 24 hours. Fingers crossed!

peonies · 22/06/2021 18:23

@Panda368 I think we are in the same position as your buyer, last email from our solicitor was that she’s been on hold with the lender for an hour so far, waiting for confirmation of funds release so we can exchange tomorrow! 🤞

coffeequeenindevon · 22/06/2021 21:49

Had an email from the EA. Apparently the solicitor at the bottom of the chain (the link our buyer only told us about a couple of weeks ago) is ‘too busy’ to exchange. Right then.

Finallygrowingup · 22/06/2021 22:12

Too busy???!!

I've heard it all. There should be a complaints process for solicitors taking on too much work during this time. So many people and so much money depends on it.

Panda2021 · 23/06/2021 06:39

Seller pulled out on day of exchange. So unexpected and absolutely devastated. Nothing can be done, have offered more money etc but they are stonewalling us.

Gettingonabitnow · 23/06/2021 06:51

@coffeequeenindevon that’s outrageous, and arguably negligent. Are you planning on doing anything today?

Good luck to those still to exchange today.

I so want to to chase the chain ahead before we become technically homeless next week, but sense tells me to leave it as they’ll just fob me off x

Porridgeislife · 23/06/2021 06:55

I’m so sorry @Panda2021 That’s absolutely gutting. It’s a disgrace that the system here allows sellers (and buyers) to upend a whole chain at the 11th hour because of a change of heart.

coffeequeenindevon · 23/06/2021 07:01

I have had a very sleepless night as you can imagine. The really stupid thing for us is we don’t benefit at all from the saving but have worked around dates for our buyer. I have a clearance company coming for our mattresses and the kids beds on Friday as we want new ones for our new house. Movers are booked for Saturday. I had to give my cleaner notice, rearrange the children’s school bus route as they use the minibus service, suspend parking bays etc.. All first world problems as they say and I guess I’m an idiot for believing what the EA was saying. Most of the packing done too and all by myself with DH off his feet with an injury, despite two kids, a very full on day job and two Board roles - but don’t worry about that as the bloody solicitor is ‘too busy’..!!!!

Sorry everyone. Ranting I know. @Gettingonabitnow, I’m not sure what I can do sadly. We can’t chase any harder. We could put down an ultimatum but don’t want to jeopardise the sale completely.

coffeequeenindevon · 23/06/2021 07:04

Really sorry @Panda2021. That is truly stressful x

gelatodipistacchio · 23/06/2021 07:07

@Panda2021 that's so horrible. this system is so broken. I'm so sorry.

Didicat · 23/06/2021 07:17

Congratulations @10YellowTulips and @Starseeking

@Emmajane88 did your exchange go through?

@GrapefruitTsunami our solicitors requested the funds before we exchanged, she has also requested them for the 25th and we complete on the 28th

@Whenwillthishappen Did you manage to get the piece of paper to exchange yesterday?

OP posts:
Gettingonabitnow · 23/06/2021 07:21

Oh @Panda2021 I missed your post, I’m so sorry, that is awful. X

Whenwillthishappen · 23/06/2021 07:24

@Didicat yes ! We got the dreaded piece of paper at 3pm and after that it all went very quickly. The reason it had stalled was because the solicitor at the end of the chain went on leave until yesterday, great!!
We move Tuesday. I have don't no packing and haven't told any companies, utilities etc I am moving so should be interesting !!
Hope everyone gets good news today. It is just the worst process...@Panda2021 I am so sorry your seller pulled out last minute. I cant believe people find it acceptable to do that...just gutting for you.
