We are in band c at the moment
I've had my eye on a property for a while but I've realised it's in band F! So I think I'll have to write that one off
Just asking out of interest really .

Band E, £2400.

Comps83 · 15/01/2021 10:35

@youngestisapsycho see we nearly bought a band e detached house in the same village but this is a terrace further from the centre so I begrudge paying band F council tax

we moved last year... we moved from a more expensive area, which was also band E but only £1900

youngestisapsycho · 15/01/2021 10:38

well it depends on the difference between the bands?

Comps83 · 15/01/2021 10:40

It would be £3k a year for the house I like
We are paying £1700 now

The bands and what they correspond to will be on your council's website. It's a bit of a crazy system based on drive by assessments in the 80s I think it was, our 5 bed semi looks small and single storey from the road, it's band B.

vminkookie · 15/01/2021 11:12

Band C £1677

Over ten months because then the months off I feel rich

bluepie · 15/01/2021 11:23

E about £2200

CarryOnFestiveNamechanging · 15/01/2021 11:33

H £3700

garlictwist · 15/01/2021 11:36

When we put an offer in on our house it was band b. Then when we moved in the council wrote to us and said they were putting it up to c because the previous owners had converted the cellar into a lounge (how do they know these things? And why does it only change when the house is sold?). I felt quite pissed off about it but nothing I could do.

LBOCS2 · 15/01/2021 12:06

We're band F which is £2600, but I'm not sure that's right as an extension has been done (before we bought) which makes it bigger than our neighbours' - and they're also band F. So possibly if they reviewed it would be band G.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 15/01/2021 12:10

Are these monthly or yearly amounts people are listing?

Chumleymouse · 15/01/2021 12:12

LBunz · 15/01/2021 12:13

Monthly :) we pay £260 a month for ten months of the year, with Feb and March 'off' before the bill comes again in April.

Els1e · 15/01/2021 12:14

Band C - £1900. Ridiculous amount

Murinae · 15/01/2021 12:17

Band E and £2250.64 per year

scubadub · 15/01/2021 12:18

What is this council tax? Do you pay it annually or monthly? We don't have that here!

youngestisapsycho · 15/01/2021 12:19

Martin Lewis was talking about council tax last night. He said something about it being based on house valuations in 1991?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 15/01/2021 12:20

LondonMiss · 15/01/2021 12:25
