Odd question about my kitchen. Pics included

I have a stunning new kitchen. I love it but it’s too much like a showroom. Other than leaving it untidy or grubby how can I make it less showroom like? You see what I mean about an odd question!

ugh, can't edit !

bakereld · 28/10/2020 17:21

Wow I love your kitchen OP, and your fairy lights :) It looks so beautiful, I like it as it is, I don't think you really need to add anything to make it look less showroomy.

ButamIbothered · 28/10/2020 17:24

It's a beautiful kitchen, I'd maybe add some feature plants , but it looks fine as it is.

Lulalulabelle · 28/10/2020 17:25

It’s beautiful! I love those big windows

Amrythings · 28/10/2020 17:26

My mother says darkly, "Use it for six months!"

She's currently touching up her very beautiful solid wood kitchen on all the little corners where the paint has been dinged by rampaging nieces, grandson and giant idiot dog...

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 28/10/2020 17:28

I've added a few wooden accessories to my "science lab". A little shallow tray by hob with salt pepper and oil (in nice containers), the same tray by kettle with matching jars for tea coffee sugar. A huge worn wooden chopping board.

Didntgetmydiamondring · 28/10/2020 17:29

It’s a lovely kitchen but my first thought is, with such big windows, the neighbours would have a full view into your kitchen when it’s dark out and your lights are on. I wouldn’t be able to mooch about in mismatched PJ’s stuffing a biscuit in my mouth without blinds Grin

Stealth boast OP?! Wink

Joking, I agree it's absolutely gorgeous. I'd love to live there! Also agree some fabric textures, huge vase of colourful real blooms.

Your cat is very lovely too.

AlwaysLatte · 28/10/2020 17:35

It's gorgeous. It needs some softness imo though - a bespoke plush window seat, maybe?

asparalite · 28/10/2020 17:36

It's divine, love the cat too, wondering do you have any blinds?

userxx · 28/10/2020 17:44

How do you reach the wine rack? That would concern me 😳

Indecisiveragazza · 28/10/2020 17:46

Thanks, all for your lovely comments and idea. Annasgirl.....of course you can keep the pics.
And yes, we have blinds.
It was designed by a designer in Glasgow. I can give details if you need them.

You need books. Piles of recipe books.

tobee · 28/10/2020 18:07

@TenThousandSpoons

Cover the island in Lego, paper and colouring pens, exercise books, water bottles and two school bags. That’s what I’ve done and it really takes off the “showroom” edge.

A beautiful space, it looks fantastic. Definitely greenery, whether that be house plants or fresh herbs Smile

It's gorgeous! Some wooden items like chopping boards to warm it up a bit.

Graffitiqueen · 28/10/2020 19:49

I have a question about your downdraft hob? Are those drawers underneath and if so how did it fit in? We are designing our kitchen just now and have been told the downdraft hob can't go above drawers?

Graffitiqueen · 28/10/2020 19:52

Also what are your work surfaces made of, where are they from and are the edges mitred?

waitrosetrollydolly · 28/10/2020 19:55

Bet the drawers are C shaped. We had them like that around a sink in a previous house.

Tsubasa1 · 28/10/2020 19:56

I think you are missing a plant!

Indecisiveragazza · 28/10/2020 19:58

Graffiti.......directly below the hob is a false drawer but there are 2 real drawers below that. The work surfaces are granite and mitred.

It's stunning!

Littlebreadandbutterflies · 28/10/2020 20:02

Some fresh flowers in a vase? A couple of nice tea towels for some texture. Maybe a rug 🙂
