What’s a reasonable price for window cleaning

Have never had this done professionally. I asked for a quote and instead of that, they sent someone round to do it. I haven’t been invoiced yet. It’s a small terraced house with a largish kitchen window, 2 large bedroom windows, one small bedroom window and a patio type window at the back, about 3 m wide and 2 m high. A ball park figure would be great. It’s in the south east ( Kent). Thanks!

I have a 4 bed detached with bay window and glass patio doors. I pay £8.

UsernameN0Tavailable · 20/10/2020 14:34

We pay £15 a time for a a 3 bed semi with front door and window surround, 5 standard windows, 2 story bay window, patio doors and 2 velux windows. Also south east.

CottonSock · 20/10/2020 14:35

£25 here!

whataboutbob · 20/10/2020 14:36

Ok, this all sounds very reasonable and reassuring. I will contact them with this fee in mind. Thank you.

Im kent based too. We pay £13 for a 3 bed semi detached.

HolyMerlot · 20/10/2020 15:22

£3 for a three bed semi Grin (front only obviously)

whataboutbob · 20/10/2020 18:23

Ok so I have been told that they did the job, inside and outside as requested by tenant, never got back to me to check before proceeding, and it will be £50 Angry

I pay £22 for detached 4 bed

FatimaMunchy · 20/10/2020 18:30

That seems a lot. We have a 4 bed, 2 bath, 3 recep house and pay £20 for outside. Presumably that would be £40 if they did inside as well.

JoJoSM2 · 20/10/2020 18:33

£30 for a large detached with a lot of glazing.

TowandaForever · 20/10/2020 18:43

No way would I pay that!!!!

SlipperyLizard · 20/10/2020 18:46

Surely if it is tenanted then the tenant pays (or cleans them themselves?). Especially inside, but I’ve never had any window cleaning paid by a landlord.

JoJoSM2 · 20/10/2020 18:52

Was it the start of tenancy with the previous person leaving them dirty? If it’s mid-tenancy, then the tenant should clean/pay for cleaning.

£50 is a bit but the prices above probably don’t include the inside?

Wigeon · 20/10/2020 18:54

£16 for 3 bed detached (although hardly any windows on the sides). Hertfordshire.

If you are the landlord and they proceeded without quoting I’d definitely challenge that. Also would seem very odd for a landlord to pay for inside windows (and frankly outside too).

Poopoodidoo · 20/10/2020 18:57

I pay £3 for a 2-bed flat. Smallish windows but I can’t believe it’s so low. I do give a god tip at Christmas.

Poopoodidoo · 20/10/2020 18:59
  • a good tip!
Clettercletterthatsbetter · 20/10/2020 19:23

It’s £20-25 round here (South), but that’s outside only, and with those useless poles rather than up a ladder so the standard isn’t great!

DelphiniumBlue · 20/10/2020 19:25

London suburbs, 3 bed terrace, front only, is £9.00

Bettina500 · 20/10/2020 19:34

I'm confused, they did them inside and out as requested by the tenant? Are you there landlord then? Sorry if I've missed something.
I'm in the midlands and it costs me £15 to have my 3 bed detached done. They come about every 10 weeks. They use the long poles so not someone up a ladder and it doesn't take them long.

MaddeningtheUnhelpful · 20/10/2020 19:36

sussex. 3 bed semi, £15

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 20/10/2020 19:49

Should have said mine is a 4 bed detached, but a small 4 bed!

whataboutbob · 20/10/2020 19:49

@Bettina500 Yes I’m a landlord.
@JoJoSM2 Yes, It’s start of tenancy and they were smudged when the tenant moved in, I guess I could chalk it down to experience and be very very careful whenever trades call at the property from now on. Still it rankles and they were unprofessional to go ahead without getting back to me and quote. When I said that to the boss guy on the phone he just stonewalled me.

We pay £1 per window, outside only, in Kent.

MrsPworkingmummy · 20/10/2020 19:55

I pay £30 a time. We are a large 3 story 6 bedroom end of terraced with lots of windows on the front, back and gable end.

Bettina500 · 20/10/2020 19:56

The tenant should pay for it then surely?
It's unusual for a window cleaner to do the insides too, I guess it was the tenant gave them access to the property.
