What’s a reasonable price for window cleaning

Have never had this done professionally. I asked for a quote and instead of that, they sent someone round to do it. I haven’t been invoiced yet. It’s a small terraced house with a largish kitchen window, 2 large bedroom windows, one small bedroom window and a patio type window at the back, about 3 m wide and 2 m high. A ball park figure would be great. It’s in the south east ( Kent). Thanks!

£35 for a four bed semi but with lots of glazing. It’s extortionate

Jojobythesea · 20/10/2020 19:59

Tbf. Cleaning the inside of windows is a lot more time consuming than the outside where they use those poles. It's all spray and cloths isn't it even for a pro?! 🤔

whataboutbob · 20/10/2020 19:59

@Bettina the contract stipulates windows to be cleaned professionally on leaving the property. It does not say on the inside though. They will argue they are entitled to them being professionally cleaned at start of tenancy.

I've never had mine cleaned inside by a window cleaner. Surely that's for the tenant to do?

Fleamaker123 · 20/10/2020 20:09

A question... Do your window cleaners wipe the frames too?
We were told it would be extra to wipe them.
I thought a window was a window🤔
I have to wipe dirty drip marks off each time!
Sometimes the windows are dirtier than they were before 😂

dementedpixie · 20/10/2020 20:16

My last one used a ladder and hand wiped the windows but like yours frames/sills cost more. My new one uses a brush on a pole so he isn't up there to wipe anything

£5 two bed semi. Central Scotland £30 gutters only. No discount on £35 if you get both. Doesn’t do insides.

Millie2013 · 20/10/2020 20:19

£38 for 23 windows plus a conservatory

LeroyJenkinssss · 20/10/2020 20:23

£20 for 14 (I think) windows plus conservatory.

ohidoliketobe · 20/10/2020 20:24

4 bed semi, 16 windows plus French doors. £9. Gutters extra £20.
I love living in the North West Grin

4 bedroom detached in the Midlands,£7.50,front and back.

TidyOmlette · 20/10/2020 20:33

I pay £7 every 3 weeks for a 3 bed semi.

FAQs · 20/10/2020 20:46

How much does that work out per window??

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 20/10/2020 20:53

3 bed semi, big bay window, 7 other windows and 2 sets of large double patio doors, we pay £7 done the proper way with a ladder, not the extended pole.
North West.

itsovernowthen · 20/10/2020 20:54

We pay £20 in total which is £10 for each side as sometimes they are only able to access the front. We also have a huge double patio door on the side of the house that they include as well.

We have 10 windows in all, including the patio doors, it's a 3 bed Victorian semi.

itsovernowthen · 20/10/2020 20:55

We're in the North West top of Surrey.

IdblowJonSnow · 20/10/2020 20:58

50 is insane. I wouldnt pay more than 20 in any area of the uk.
I like in Yorks and we pay 13, 3 bed semi with large windows.

newmumwithquestions · 20/10/2020 20:59

£30 for a 3/4 bed semi on those funny pole things. I told them not to come back as it was too high, especially as they said they’d cone every month. I intended to do them myself but haven’t so I do need to do something as they’re looking dirty.

FatimaMunchy · 20/10/2020 21:37

My friend has hers done inside and out, but I never thought to ask what method they use. I assumed it was cloths for both.
I have never heard of front only window cleans. What happens at the back,?

goingtotown · 21/10/2020 01:07

My window cleaner has been using a pole/ brush cleaning system for the last 4 visits. The windows are left wet & the frames & sills are not as clean as using a cloth.
I pay £15 every six weeks for 3 bed semi, I’m not happy with the finish so will be telling him I no longer want his services.

AlwaysLatte · 21/10/2020 01:11

Ours is £25 for the outside, once a fortnight

Singinginshower · 21/10/2020 01:28

£18
I think you should have got the windows cleaned before the tenant moved in, and left it to them thereafter.

theyoungishman · 21/10/2020 01:45

Wow I can't believe how cheap is in the UK! Getting mine done on Thursday and it's costing $250 for a 3 bedroom house (£170)!

itsovernowthen · 21/10/2020 05:35

We sometimes have the front only done because we are not home when the window cleaners are doing their 6 weekly rounds. They don't have a key to access our side gate, so they do the front only, and my lovely neighbour pays them (I reimburse her straight away).

If that happens, the back of the house then doesn't get done until the next time they come on their rounds, 6 weeks later Confused

itsovernowthen · 21/10/2020 05:38

@whataboutbob

Ok so I have been told that they did the job, inside and outside as requested by tenant, never got back to me to check before proceeding, and it will be £50 Angry

As a price for both inside and outside, that seems fine. I must admit I've only ever known window cleaners to do the outside, with domestic cleaners doing the inside.
