What do you have in your living room bay window?

What do you currently have in your bay window? A sofa, the TV, a bench window, nothing?

Just want ideas for arranging the room.

An aspidistra.

A little kidney sofa. Not my preference, would rather leave it empty, but we’ve got a knocked-through room and having it in the middle to “zone” the sitting room from the playroom just blocked DD’s rampaging path through. We’ll move it against the alcove shelves at Christmas to put a massive tree in there, which is what bay windows are made for.

My Grandma's small cherry wood table (it was her mother's) with her plant pot on it.... no plant at the moment though

thelegohooverer · 10/10/2020 17:20

A bench. I’d prefer a built in window seat but it’s on a very long to do list right now. And in the meantime the bench is easily moved for the tree at Christmas

DespairingHomeowner · 10/10/2020 17:23

A 2 seater sofa.... however, a DIAGRAM would help me come up with some ideas Smile

SilenceOfThePrams · 10/10/2020 17:24

Pre-children. A giant umbrella plant thingy.

Later, a plastic tat toy kitchen.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 10/10/2020 17:25

A large wicker hamper (lidded) full of the kids toys

BlackberrySky · 10/10/2020 17:28

A statement chair and a small coffee table.

ohidoliketobe · 10/10/2020 17:30

Nothing, a Christmas tree come December. Always liked the idea of a chaise lounge I could dramatically throw myself on every now and then

Mumofwho · 10/10/2020 17:31

It’s an empty rectangle right now with a fireplace perpendicular to the window (ie on one of the long walls). I don’t like the idea of sitting on a sofa with the back of my head facing the street. But I do like the idea of a bench window. Leaving it empty seems a waste of space.

A giant plant might look nice so too a big basket or something practical.

Anyone else freaked out by having the back of their head to the street side and not being able to see the road? The driveway is big and the house is far from the road.

Nothing - just the window

KoalaRabbit · 10/10/2020 17:32

We had a tox box for kids toys, one point had a piano there.

RevolutionRadio · 10/10/2020 17:34

A fan and the hoover that needs moving.

We'll put the Christmas tree in it at Christmas.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 10/10/2020 17:38

3 radiators (1 under each window). At Christmas time, the tree. In summer, when the rads aren't in use, some small furniture.

elQuintoConyo · 10/10/2020 17:39

Poang chair, small table for tea, biscuits and book. Often an array of small plastic soldiers or a Lego rocket! Oh, and a comfy rug for the dog.

It's south-facing with a sea view, so lovely and warm and I can gaze at the boats with my binoculars

yesterdaystotalsteps123 · 10/10/2020 17:39

The cat tree so his lordship can watch the world go by

Mimilamore · 10/10/2020 17:41

A chest

MillieEpple · 10/10/2020 17:44

A sofa. I dont mind having my head to the back of the street as i mainly only sit down jn the evenings with the curtains shut.

NancyBotwinBloom · 10/10/2020 17:45

Table and 3 chairs.

I'd prefer it bare or with a window seat or big cuddle chair but we have nowhere else to put a table as we have no dining room.

cptartapp · 10/10/2020 17:45

Nothing. It's south facing overlooking open fields. Love to sit on my sofa and watch the sheep opposite.

BiBabbles · 10/10/2020 17:46

We have a pair of big chairs there and in the awkward gap between we keep blankets, small pillows and things like that for being cozy.

The kids or guests tend to sit there. They don't seem to mind, but I feel awkward on seats by windows.

DuesToTheDirt · 10/10/2020 17:47

Years ago a toybox, now a long low bookcase. We have shutters so it has to be something that fits underneath. Some other windows in the house have built-in window seats with storage below.

Baaaahhhhh · 10/10/2020 17:48

ohidoliketobe We've got a chaise lounge Grin.

However, there is also a cat hammock attached to the radiator, so the cat tends to take up the space rather than me Sad.

A pile of board games. I really must get the DC to put them away.
