What do you currently have in your bay window? A sofa, the TV, a bench window, nothing?

Just want ideas for arranging the room.
@mamaduckbone Ours is a Mark 2 - we got it from the Isokon shop for our first flat, so nearly 20 years ago!
Ours is a mark one, bought 18 years ago - I still have the Isokon receipt in an orange envelope somewhere.

Lovely! We bought a Loop coffee table at the same time, but everyone thinks it came from Ikea, much to DH's annoyance...

Wheelerdeeler · 11/10/2020 13:00

A 2 seater couch. I moved it last Christmas and put the tree there but I like to draw the curtains so defeats the purpose. This year I'm leaving the couch and having the tree in the corner

I would love a bay window for a reading seating!! It's a lovely spot for reading imo!

Aknifewith16blades · 11/10/2020 13:03

We have a giant swiss cheese plant and a sofa.

We have shutters, but if we didn't I would have these blinds, that we have elsewhere, that cover the bottom part of windows. www.bottomupblinds.co.uk/

In the front room we have a window seat with lots of cushions and books underneath. To be honest it’s only really the dog that sits there.
In the spare room we have a chaise lounge and a small bookcase. That’s my spot. Sometimes I reserve it with a pile of washing because I know no one will move it Grin
I now want a penguin donkey!

Mumofwho · 11/10/2020 15:35

I want a penguin donkey! Why are they so expensive? I’ll find a carpenter to make me one. That surely must be cheaper.

Ooh, lovely. Doesn't look remotely IKEA but it has been a bit over-copied. Dh and I would never make that mistake Wink

A life-size Diana Ross.

timeforawine · 11/10/2020 16:39

A radiator. Daft question maybe but does anyone know if i can put my Christmas tree there, would the radiator melt the tree branches?

thelegohooverer · 11/10/2020 17:52

@timeforawine my radiator has never melted mine.

Audreyseyebrows · 11/10/2020 17:54

@draughtycatflap I need a pic! Sounds amazing

KoalaRabbit · 11/10/2020 17:54

It won't melt tree branches, might melt chocolate decorations if very close.

SellFridges · 11/10/2020 17:56

A nest of tables. Awaiting a storage pouf thing and also a new radiator. And shutters.

Upstairs has the wash basket. Pondering an armchair there but I don’t know where the wash basket would go and actually it’s quite a nice basket.

ChalkDinosaur · 11/10/2020 17:58

A 4x1 kallax (it's a rectangular bay). Not the most stylish solution but helps hide the toddler crap, and you can perch on the top if you've got a room full of people.

WitsEnding · 11/10/2020 17:59

Sofa with additional interesting cushions. Only sat on when mixing more than two households (so not recently).

timeforawine · 11/10/2020 18:08

Thanks @thelegohooverer
Might try my tree there this year

Vintagevixen · 11/10/2020 20:10

Nothing apart from the Christmas tree come December.

I like to be able to walk into the bay, so deliberately leave it empty.

Thebookswereherfriends · 11/10/2020 20:15

We had a bench with cupboard underneath built in - the bench is currently a barbie apartment 😁 and the cupboards hide some toys.

Benjispruce2 · 11/10/2020 20:17

Window seat.

HuggedTheRedwoods · 11/10/2020 20:30

Cat tree (its a nice one, tree shaped with wicker baskets as the 'flowers') so cat watches the garden and a large dragon palm tree to the side. It all moves to the sides for the Christmas tree in December.

I think a small sofa would look nice aesthetically but like you I would not like to sit with my back to the window.

JudgeRindersMinder · 11/10/2020 22:09

My oversized armchair and the dog’s stool. The chair gets swapped for the obligatory Christmas tree

Gertruude · 11/10/2020 22:18

We have a movable window seat (fashioned out of an IKEA unit) filled with the kids toys (or our record collection back in the old days)

What do you have in your living room bay window?
doodleygirl · 11/10/2020 22:22

We had a window seat built so the dog can sit in comfort and look out of the windowSmile

Ninkanink · 11/10/2020 22:31

A plant table - three circular table tops.
