Hope this is the final one for us!

Sorry to barge in.. Grin
Can you share how long it took for your offer to be refused/accepted?
We've offered the asking price but haven't had an answer in 2 days. Others have offered substantially less but are in better positions. Is the EA using our offer to nudge up other offers?
It's radio silence from the EA who was previously keen as they want to sell our house too.

AmandaHugenkiss · 11/09/2020 09:40

@Sweetpopsicle I’m so sorry. That’s heartbreaking.

Bells3032 · 11/09/2020 09:46

@Sweetpopsicle do you not have a contract. My DH started a new job and they were happy with his contract (it actually all took a little longer than intitially planned so we had the three payslips in the end) but they were content with it.

Why has it taken this long for them to mention this?

ChristmasTree999 · 11/09/2020 09:46

Morning all, checking back in - end of week 10 I think?
@Sweetpopsicle that’s really rubbish - sorry it’s ended like that but you’ll get somewhere eventually. Keep positive.
@NewHouseNewMe we heard back within half hour about our offer - give them another call and find out what’s going on - maybe the vendors are on holiday or something.

I’ve just emailed my solicitor to find out if all the enquiries are finally done and if we are still on for exchange next week like they suggested. Fingers crossed. Would like to know if I should be spending the weekend packing or not!

Bells3032 · 11/09/2020 09:47

@NewHouseNewMe two days sounds like a lot, we literally heard the same day every time. I'd chase the EA

NewHouseNewMe · 11/09/2020 09:52

Ah okay. Thanks for replying @Bells3032 and @ChristmasTree999.

In previous purchases we've heard asap too. We met the vendors so they're definitely not on holiday.

NewHouseNewMe · 11/09/2020 09:54

That's strange @Sweetpopsicle
I know our HR write letters to confirm employment all the time for house purchases. Would that make a difference, do you think?

DareDevil223 · 11/09/2020 10:28

Good news here! DP just came running in to show me the email confirming that the sale of his property has completed (it's the other side of the country and he's moved in with me).

We're now officially cash buyers for the property we are buying together. We're in a rental property now so can be reasonably relaxed about timescales but hopefully won't be too long now before we can exchange.

So happy, especially for DP who has been so stressed trying to manage all this from a distance.

ChristmasTree999 · 11/09/2020 10:29

Sigh.... so the solicitor is still waiting for something from my landlords mortgage lender - apparently because we applied to extend our lease so we could sell, their mortgage lender has to consent to that. Why is everything like pulling teeth?! Trouble is half the time I’m not exactly sure what things are and how to chase them! So stressful.

ChristmasTree999 · 11/09/2020 10:30

That’s great @DareDevil223! Should make things more favourable for you 👍

DareDevil223 · 11/09/2020 10:34

Thank you @ChristmasTree999 it feels like it's taken a long time and a lot of stress to get this far!
I hope your paperwork issues get sorted.

littlecontis · 11/09/2020 10:55

@DareDevil223 congratulations! Hope it moves quickly for you so you can stop paying rent!!

We heard within hours. But we were the ones that offered less and were given the chance to negotiate as we were in a better position.
daisymill · 11/09/2020 12:03

Waiting by the phone for the call to say we've exchanged is excruciating!!

Maybenexttime08 · 11/09/2020 12:14

Just had the call saying we won't exchange today after all :-( . The buyers solicitor isn't answering their phone.

Monday it is then - fx'd - I'll put the wine away till then.

littlecontis · 11/09/2020 12:29

@Maybenexttime08 or maybe just have the bottle today and another bottle on Monday...

ChristmasTree999 · 11/09/2020 12:36

Yeah just drink it @Maybenexttime08 😆

AmandaHugenkiss · 11/09/2020 12:37

Currently waiting to hear if our buyer will accept our price reduction rather than us agreeing to all his requests for work to be done, and also for our solicitor to see if we can pin them down to an exchange date.

I genuinely can’t decide if screaming or crying is my overwhelming urge during this whole process!!

NewHouseNewMe · 11/09/2020 13:23

@AmandaHugenkiss have you read the other thread like this at the moment? A person is having the same issue with a vendor asking them to fix all sorts of things.
The conclusion from the MN jury was to threaten to put the house back on the market by Monday and be prepared to go through with it.

daisymill · 11/09/2020 13:25

We've exchanged! 🥳 completion date set for next Friday 🏡

ChristmasTree999 · 11/09/2020 13:31

Great news!! So happy for others when they make it to exchange - it must be a great feeling 🙂

AmandaHugenkiss · 11/09/2020 13:43

@NewHouseNewMe I’ve been glued to that one! We are waiting to see if our buyer is happy with our counter proposal; I’m hoping he’s just a wet behind the ears FTB who doesn’t know any better and his solicitor will advise him to take our offer and run!

Bells3032 · 11/09/2020 13:51

12 weeks on from agreeing a sale and 4 weeks on from me re agreeing to the purchasers on the basis of them getting a new lawyer their new lawyer has still not even responded to mine regarding them representing my buyers.

Prices have gone down even more since we agreed the sale and i have had to evict my tenants in the meantime. do I pull out or keep hoping these idiots will stop dragging their feet?

On the purchase side though it's all going smoothly. Our sellers are just getting one investigation done on their purchase and then hopefully we'll be exchanged before the end of the month.

that1970shouse · 11/09/2020 14:54

Congratulations daisymill !

Zebrahooves · 11/09/2020 15:22

Congratulations @daisymill.

I think I will still be on thread 12 with our straightforward purchase. Week 12, here we come.
