Anyone else a Rightmove addict?

We want to move and even though I have alerts set up I’m so addicted to checking Rightmove it’s getting beyond a joke!

At least every hour more like every half hour or multiple times per hour.

Yes I was always on it, looking for a place to buy.
We've just moved house and I'm still on it Confused

BruceAndNosh · 26/02/2020 21:03

No intention of moving but still check it regularly! I also "improve" the houses that I am definitely not buying!

TheClitterati · 26/02/2020 21:04

My dream house is on Rightmove- 1 mile away and £1.5 million. I'll never be able to buy it. I look at the listing and it's 40 photographs every day.

Pineappletree33 · 26/02/2020 21:12

Yep! Moved in December and still check Rightmove every day.

Ilovemycatssomuch · 26/02/2020 21:17

Nooooo don’t tell me I’ll still be like this even when we’ve moved!!

My latest tonight is looking at sold houses in the area we want to move to.

six months after moving I still check out rightmove, but then im nosey I get to look at other peoples houses without leaving my front room

leolion81 · 26/02/2020 21:26

I was the same and even though I moved a year ago and love my house and have no intention of moving I still check 2/3 times a day while at work!

icanhearapindrop · 26/02/2020 21:38

Oh yes! Everyone said I’d stop when I moved 6 years ago, but I didn’t. I’ve just moved again, and am still obsessed! I also love looking at sold prices and eyeing up friends houses on there!

drownininplaymobil · 26/02/2020 21:44

Oh yes. And I have also recently discovered Zillow...

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/02/2020 22:07

I often check three different areas on both Rightmove and Zoopla - where dds have their houses, and where we have a rental property.
Both sales and rentals sometimes.
Dh is almost worse - gets alerts and often sends me links, with comments like, ‘They’ll be lucky!’ (re price).

I often have a good old nose on nethouseprices, too, to see what such and such a place actually sold for. It’s a bugger to have to wait 2-3 months, though.

Pipandmum · 26/02/2020 22:31

Yep. I'm looking to move in about 18 months but still look every day, even though there are no new listings I look at the same ones just in case they magically found another bedroom or a bigger garden or the location has moved a few blocks or they knocked a few hundred thousand off the price...
Actually it's a good place to get decorating ideas as well as a good feel for the market and values. I know when I start looking in real life I'll know what streets and what exactly I can expect to get for my money. So its research really, not time wasting!

Ilovemycatssomuch · 26/02/2020 22:38

Haha I can relate to you all so much!

I do feel it’s good to know exactly what’s going on in the local market when you’re looking to sell or buy and I agree the delay is a pain!

Funny you said that Pip I keep going back to one house which is in an area we’d consider but needs new bathrooms and a kitchen. They want the same money for it that ones in the same street sold for last year even though they were like show homes. Not gonna happen! Hence why it’s been on the market months.

I’m taunting myself a bit too cos there’s houses that sold that would have been perfect for us Sad

My dad and he isn't even moving! He even has it on his smart TV

Ilovemycatssomuch · 26/02/2020 22:51

On the TV you say!!

Just realised this is a great thread to ask a question that popped into my head earlier. A house we loved but was quite expensive was listed as SSTM which is fine but a good month later the sold sign is still up. It’s off Rightmove now though. Would there be a reason for this or is it just that no one has got round to taking it down yet? Think I’m secretly hoping whoever bought it couldn’t sell and it’ll end up back on Blush

Me! Lol

needmorecoffeeandcake · 26/02/2020 22:55

Yes I love rightmove

Theloftmonster · 26/02/2020 22:58

I can count surfing rightmove as part of my job Grin

shrill · 26/02/2020 23:02

"A good month" is no time at all ime OP. Very frustrating.

cakeandchampagne · 26/02/2020 23:08

A thread with this title should have some interesting links!

mouldygrapes · 26/02/2020 23:09

I have found my people.
We bought 6 months ago and I still check rightmove regularly. I’m obsessed! Although I’m doing a lot better than when we were looking to buy (at least 12 months of pain and failed sales) when I was on it constantly

TokyoSushi · 26/02/2020 23:11

Yes, we moved last April and are really happy, I still check 'added in last 24 hours' several times a day, if anybody mentions a house in the area to me I'm all 'oh yes that one with the white kitchen, it's been on for 2 weeks and they've as already reduced it...' and then the person is z bit Confused

LOVE Rightmove!!

MelanieFrontage · 27/02/2020 11:14

Me! I love Rightmove and have at least 25 saved properties ready for when I win the lottery and can afford the asking prices of at least a few million 😂

PaulaP3 · 27/02/2020 11:17

Does Gamblers' Anon provide help with this kind of problem?

BoswellsBollocks · 27/02/2020 11:18

I combine my love of google maps with my love of Rightmove.

I love nothing more than finding a random village in the UK (or US and use Zillow, I’m not fussy), zooming in and finding a lovely street before searching for houses I could move in to on Rightmove.

Then I plan how I’ll make it better.

sunshinesupermum · 27/02/2020 11:58

Constantly investigating both Rightmove and Zoopla at areas I 'might' move to if I can be arsed to sell up! Latest is Folkestone to be near the sea and fast train into London and Eurostar!
