Which house??

Househelp1 · 22/02/2020 21:53

So the budget is 200k max and I have found two I like;

Both houses are nice and have 4 beds although the main differences are
One is detached- In a nicer area
One is semi detached- next to hospital (dh’s place of work)

Semi has a bedroom downstairs, which I don’t REALLY mind as it will be the spare room. (For dh’s parents as they stay often)

The semi has a utility which is ideal but the detached has a garden room which is nice for dc to have!!

School relevance is not important as my dc attend the school I work in. And distance/commute time for me from both is much of a muchness with traffic etc! But as I said the detached is next to the hospital for DH!!

Prices are
Semi- 199,950
Detached- 199,500

What would you do??dh likes both too 🙈

Detached

FredMerc · 22/02/2020 22:12

I'd go detached every time if I could afford to so wouldn't even consider the semi. I also prefer a back.lounge and front kitchen so I wouldn't hesitate on which one I'd take.

Good.luck

crazycatgal · 22/02/2020 22:13

The detached is lovely.

Mamato2gorgeousboys · 22/02/2020 22:13

Detached!! It looks lovely and I can’t believe it’s 200k. In my part of England, that would be 600/650k. It’s depressing.

ooooohbetty · 22/02/2020 22:14

Detached. It's very nice.

PegasusReturns · 22/02/2020 22:14

I think the semi is a nicer layout with the kitchen diner. So I’d say semi even before you clarified that it’s in the better area.

I’d always pick area over house personally.

0hT00dles · 22/02/2020 22:14

Either! But the semi looks more homely to me. And tbh, they are both very close so yes, the detached is detached, but it's very close !

BlackAndWhiteCat0 · 22/02/2020 22:15

I can’t believe the price too, I’m in Edinburgh and got far less for that!

TokenGinger · 22/02/2020 22:15

I like the pictures of the detached house better!

They're both lovely though. Garden is nicer in the semi. Kitchen is miles better in the detached.

Lying here listening to my noisy neighbour in my semi, my heart says detached!

Bluntness100 · 22/02/2020 22:16

Detached for me too, it’s just better all round,

Househelp1 · 22/02/2020 22:18

@0hT00dles it is isn’t it....sooo close!!!

Detached.

scunner · 22/02/2020 22:22

Detached house looks lovely. I also think a better area in the long term would be the best decision.

Mumdiva99 · 22/02/2020 22:22

I prefer the semi because of the kitchen diner. The garden is loads nicer too. Realistically the 4th bedroom will be used as living space as kids get older...but surely that's better if you make it duel purpose so it can be a guest room or can be for the kids. But..... You did say the detached was a better area - it's just the lack of living space in it puts me off.

FrownPrincess · 22/02/2020 22:25

Detached.
The bedrooms in the semi are tiny.
