Number One. IME roads only ever get busier and the noise will be annoying. Also, pollution is higher on busier roads. This would disqualify number two for me. Also, dormers can be awkward and it's easy to bang your head on the corners. They can be cold in winter and broiling in summer and the noisy rain on the roof can be an issue. It looks like a pimped up small bungalow and for the reasons listed may be harder than a solid house like number one to sell on.

Amazed at what you get for your money in Durham!

Floorplan of 1.

Not a fan of the look of it externally.

Number two for me too. One is just another new build.

No one for me. It’s lovely and light and the living space looks gorgeous. I might need to move to Durham you get a lot for your money! Both beautiful options though

Number two is done up beautifully and may fog the reality of the odd lay out. Bedrooms on ground floor are oddly positioned. It doesn't flow.

I liked the decor in the second house, but think you'll have more space in the first one. Is the garden room useable?

I don't like the dark wood in the first house... but having just recently discovered Frenchic paint (see the fb group) I wouldn't be so phased as the kitchen and doors could be easily painted beautifully.
