Can't get worked up about it either. They don't own teh house, their income will deplete quickly once their kids start leaving home, they'll be left still jobless and with no real prospects of getting jobs, basic state pensions and will, presumably, have to downsize to another house. Families like this make teh news every now and then because there aren't really that many of them, surely.

The fact is they do have 12 kids like it or not and they need to live somewhere. Who else should get the 8 bedroom council house?
I actually find it quite amusing. Do people in real life really refer to others as 'the wrong sort'? lol

Oh well, they'll probably burn this one down too.

Actaully i suspect that they never will have to downsize. There will always be a reason why they need the extra room.

I bet the woman at the post office really wants to slip a packet of condoms into the bag when they go to claim their benefits!..

I know you don't really go to the Post Office anymore, but it wouldn't have been funny it I had said the faceless woman at the bank.....

We have recently had to apply for our rent to be paid as DP lost his job. He is distraught. We have 2 dcs and thought we would be able to provide for them at the time, we will get back on track soon but if you have 12 kids fgs you must know that a shelf stacker's wage will never support your family.

Yes, they need to live somewhere and it's not the children's fault, but they are still irresponsible and greedy.

NotReallyHereHunker · 24/07/2007 17:55

I think they should redistribute their (renamed) children around childless couples.

Oh, I don't know, Roobie, maybe some working poor EU immigrants who are living in someone's shed in their garden. And working.

I don't know how they manage to get so much out of the system.

My FIL had terminal cancer. My MIL took him home to die. The bill for his care, that she has had to pay, for the last week he was at home is over £500. If he had stayed in hospital the care would have been free. How can that be right - we clearly aren't in the knowledge of how to get things for free

And I can't think of a single council who forces a couple or family to downsize because their kids leave home.

Plenty of grannies living alone in 3 bed houses here.

I do think you need 2 parents to look after all those children and I don't think you can tell someone who loves having kids to stop. They are living in a house which suits their needs they wouldn't fit in a 3 bed terrace.

Have they got 3 sets of twins? Or is she just very quick to get back in the saddle?

I think they are misguided but not immoral as I really don't think they have given it that much thought.

lol at hunker's redistribution plan

as someone said, they won't be allowed to claim for much longer if they are CAPABLE of working, which they clearly are.
