@amroc18 apparently it's too big - urgh.

amroc18 · 17/05/2019 21:03

@Minnie881 sounds very dubious

@BeauticianNotMagician81 No they aren’t supposed to. We were all v annoyed elsewhere in the chain but in the end went with it to just get it over the line. DH has agreed to miss the first night of our trip to start unpacking.

I’m excited as today heralds the first time any discussion on home decor has been entertained here Grin as he “didn’t want to jinx it” more likely just wanted to avoid discussing curtains as long as possible

isseywithcats · 18/05/2019 12:03

Estate agent rang today surveyor has picked up the keys to do our survey so will have my fingers crossed for the report mid week then we can employ the solicitor

WBWIFE · 19/05/2019 01:46

@tiddletaddletat @amroc18 so pleased for you both! How have you coped for that long!! Its been 4 months for us and I'm pulling my hair out. Why does it take so long! I bet the other side feels amazing!! Good luck for completion Monday! So exciting.

amroc18 · 19/05/2019 05:28

Thanks @WBWIFE hope things get moving for you soon.

The year for us does include ages on the market and not selling mind. Including a sale that fell through very early. This bit has only been a few months. Hope that yours is done ASAP-are you still in Bali? Have fun!

@isseywithcats are you expecting a survey problem and that is why you are holding off solicitor? We appointed ours on offer day and they started on draft contracts, F&F forms etc

alwaystimeforcakeandtea · 19/05/2019 07:51

De-lurking! Got an offer just over 2 months from listing and now we have to find somewhere to move to. We might just rent first. Is anyone else doing this?

TiddleTaddleTat · 19/05/2019 08:33

@WBWIFE it's great on the other side! But loads to do!! It's always such a shock that actually you don't enjoy the relief for long... maybe that's me?! I'll relax when we're all moved in etc and the house renovation is finished (ha.... ha)

Solina · 19/05/2019 08:44

Hi! Thought I would finally say something here after watching for a month. We have been looking for our first house for about two months and finally had our offer accepted on Friday. Vendors have already found a house and their previous buyer found a different house four weeks in and dropped out so they took our slightly lower offer in order to not lose their purchase.

Our solicitors send us all of the initial paperwork to fill out yesterday so did that immediately and sent them back and DP will take our proof or IDs in Tuesday.

Organised to go see our mortgage advisor again next week so hopefully can start that process then as well.

Have no idea on when and how you organise the survey though so need to find info on that so that we can do it asap.

Hoping we can work as fast as possible and hoping the vendors have already done some work towards their purchase and we can exchange as fast as possible.

dimmu · 19/05/2019 09:29

@alwaystimeforcakeandtea we will go to a rental first. We are relocating to a new city and plan to rent before buying, just want to get to know the area a bit better before buying. Hopefully this would also put us in a stronger position when we decide to buy as we would be chain free.

Our buyer has finally got a survey/valuation sorted for next week, will be five weeks post accepted offer. Feeling quite nervous about in case anything comes up.

isseywithcats · 19/05/2019 12:43

amroc no not expecting any problems with the house we made the offer subject to survey and estate agent said to get survey first we are in rented and the one we are buying is empty so no chain, and cash buyers so no desperate hurry, as soon as survey comes through we will get a solicitor, we are hopefully looking at july to exchange and mid july to august to complete as all we have to do is give one months notice to our letting agent

amroc18 · 19/05/2019 14:22

@isseywithcats I see that makes sense now! Hope survey goes well

@Solina the survey will be booked via your mortgage provider when you make your application, the bank will do a valuation one as standard and you can pay extra to upgrade to other types such as homebuyer

@TiddleTaddleTat what is your move date, is it next week?

TiddleTaddleTat · 19/05/2019 16:52

@amroc18 No we have just under a month between completion and moving in (we are in the last month of our rental tenancy)
Going to try and fit in a new boiler, rewire, kitchen replacement and basic decorating in that time Confused

sandybayley · 20/05/2019 23:04

@TiddleTaddleTat - how did it go today? I know you've got stuff to do but did you Allie yourself a tiny celebratory glass of 🍾 when you got the keys.

Echoing closer to exchange here. Might be Wednesday or Thursday. Vendors solicitor are spectacularly crap but everyone in the chain is on their case. DH had a long conversation with our solicitor today and seems relatively content but went off to tennis coaching this PM and then had to watch GOT with DS1. Priorities 😬 !!!!

alwaystimeforcakeandtea · 20/05/2019 23:16

I went to a really disappointing viewing this weekend and there is only one other house in our search area that I want to look at. I would much rather buy than go into rented but it’s not looking hopeful.

WBWIFE · 21/05/2019 05:18

@sandybayley GOT has to be a priority! Haha. Good luck and fingers crossed for your exchange.

Solicitors called me yesterday said the bottom of the chain who we have been waiting on has now received all information and are reviewing. They also said the date of next Wednesday is being circulated for completion, I said that was fine I just wanted to hurry up and move!! Aedneaday would mean we would have to exchange today to be able to make the 5 days notice requested from all the lenders to draw the funds.

@alwaystimeforcakeandtea my only advice is dont buy a house that you do not love.. you will end up moving again quickly and lose money. This is my third move in 4 years and I've spent over 30k on moving in those years. The house we are now buying, we love everything about even though it needs absolutely full refurbishment (which we originally didnt want to do!) But needs must

Minnie881 · 21/05/2019 06:45

Good luck @sandybayley hope it moves quickly now. And good luck to @WBWIFE let's hope you get some progress today.

@alwaystimeforcakeandtea that is disappointing and we found that back in Feb. It's really hard because the timing can be right but as others say if it isn't THE house then you risk wanting to move again. It's a really difficult one, we held out and were fortunate to find THE house right at the last second when one chain collapsed. Things happen for a reason as my mum says Smile

TiddleTaddleTat · 21/05/2019 07:29

@sandybayley We did indeed enjoy a glass of bubbly once we got the keys and visited the house! It was lovely to see it without the vendors for the first time (they were nice but had followed us around every time we'd seen it, of course).
Feeling very excited but a bit apprehensive about all the work. Still can't believe it!

Neron · 21/05/2019 10:53

Another couple of tiny steps for DH and I.
Draft contracts received from sellers solicitors, our solicitor has raised initial enquiries and just got confirmation from the bank that our mortgage has been approved. Nice little bit of progress I think

WBWIFE · 21/05/2019 11:00

@Neron fab progress!

@TiddleTaddleTat I dont blame you!

So my solicitors manager called me today as my soldiitor isnt in, the bottom of the chain is FINALLY ready, he is now just going up the chain to see if we are all ready to exchange which we believe everyone is so fingers crossed we can exchange today!

Neron · 21/05/2019 11:16

Fingers crossed @WBWIFE !

MrsPatmore · 21/05/2019 11:26

At last WBWIFE! Hope it happens for you today!

sandybayley · 21/05/2019 11:31

@WBWIFE - I think you are about to be the next thread graduate. I'm hoping I'll be not long after you.

I'm leaving our solicitor alone until after lunch as I think he should have responses to all final enquiries in now and will need to review. I think we may be on for exchange tomorrow and completion on 27 June.

WBWIFE · 21/05/2019 11:46
