Incredibly off-putting Rightmove listing!

Just who in their right mind thinks it's funny or clever to write estate agent blurb in the first person as though it were the house itself writing? Just been browsing houses in an area we are thinking of moving to, cannot get beyond the first line it's so twee! Reminds me of round robin Christmas letters written as though from the family pet, but 10 times worse!

Does this work?

I think it's fine tbh and a lovely house.

boringlyboring · 07/04/2019 14:57

It could say ‘fuck you boring’ in the description and I’d still buy that (if I had the money obv! ). Lovely house

MrBobLoblaw · 07/04/2019 14:59

It's pretty cringe, I agree OP. Must be one of those 'sell your own house' agencies and the current owner wrote it.

The house is lovely minus the godawful wallpaper though.

Steamfan · 07/04/2019 14:59

I never read the description - loved the pictures!

Yoozanaim · 07/04/2019 15:00

Oh I like it! I think the EA did a good job - much better than the usual drivel.

FraterculaArctica · 07/04/2019 15:00

Oh I agree it's a lovely house, just find the text 'I am so lucky' meant to be the house itself speaking (!), very odd. But I'm clearly in a minority!

OP posts:
Vitalogy · 07/04/2019 15:01

Maybe the estate agent was bored.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 07/04/2019 15:05

Prehaps the estate Agent was inspured by that TV ad for one of the banks Where the house talks to prespective owners.

I dont ger the i'm so lucky, lucky your being sold and the current owners are shit? Lucky people are looking at you? I dont get it.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 07/04/2019 15:10

Why would they do that, it’s awful.

donquixotedelamancha · 07/04/2019 15:10

But I'm clearly in a minority!

Nope. That first order fuckwitery. Long-winded drivel instead of just giving the details of a fab house.

I always think adults who behave publicly like children in this way are compensating for a total lack of personality. They probably think they are 'creative' because they own a colouring book force people to listen to their shit poetry.

This one is weird too and not typical of the agent

lifebegins50 · 07/04/2019 15:15

@UnderCroft, your one wins! "A kitchen to die for"

Bingandflop2019 · 07/04/2019 15:17

I live there and it's a stunning place to live!

donquixotedelamancha · 07/04/2019 15:19

There's an almost self-contained teen-up trial zone

I have no clue what this sentence means. I am pretty sure the bat shit description is written by bat shit owners- please tell me I imagined the kitchen in the living room?

UnderCroft, your one wins

Seconded. That is subtly disturbing.

cakeandchampagne · 07/04/2019 15:19

It’s entertaining & creative. I’ve read pet adoption notices that are similar.

donquixotedelamancha · 07/04/2019 15:21

I live there and it's a stunning place to live!

Which one? Please tell me you own undercroft's 'teen up trial zone'.

madcatladyforever · 07/04/2019 15:21

It's just plain weird. Round here practically every house is described as being "betwixt" sea and town.
I have never heard the word betwixt ever used in plain conversation and find it really irritating.

Bingandflop2019 · 07/04/2019 15:21

I've actually met the Ewemove Agent for the Harrogate area and he is incredibly eccentric!

Bingandflop2019 · 07/04/2019 15:22

@donquixotedelamancha Ha! No I live down the road from the one referred to in the OP

Trethew · 07/04/2019 15:31

It’s nauseating. Totally off-putting

donquixotedelamancha · 07/04/2019 15:32

No I live down the road from the one referred to in the OP

Awww. I'm disappointed. Cheer me up by nipping down the road and asking why they didn't instantly sack their agent upon reading that description :-)
