Not a happy bunny this morning. Solicitor was told on exchange last week that completion was wanted for Thursday. All agreed.

Email this morning saying that 'as agreed' completion would happen on Friday. DH called solicitors who had the nerve to say it was at the sellers request. We know the bloody sellers, we've spoken to them and Thursday was fine.
Solicitor now gone off to frantically try and sort it, though as they have only applied for funds this morning despite receiving the deposit etc last week I'm not convinced.

Only a day in the scheme of things, but the day I had planned on cleaning and painting before the furniture comes over.

Getting so fed up. After being told a date for exchange would be agreed in the next 2 weeks, over 3 weeks ago, we still have no date. Rang solicitor last Wednesday and he said there had been a problem re-registering the property with the land registry (owner had registered it incorrectly when he built the property years ago) and that he’d expect to hear something early this week.

He keeps insisting that anytime anything changes he’ll get in touch yet we’ve had to do all the chasing so far. Is it time to call and nag again? I hate being a nag but feel like we keep getting fobbed off. I really want to be in by the end of August otherwise I won’t be able to get anytime off until October. He hasn’t even discussed dates with our seller/buyer yet. Confused

blinkineckmum · 06/08/2018 16:04

Hi. I was on the last thread but our buyers pulled oit due to a low mortgage valuation. We took our house off the market as baby was due. Baby came in March and the buyers came back. Now we've had an offer accepted. What a pain all this paperwork is!

Fuckedoffat48b · 06/08/2018 19:26

We were supposed to exchange today…. and seller …. went AWOL. Of course. Because she is a massive psychopathic bitch.

emdude · 06/08/2018 19:38

@Pearlsofmadness we're having similar solicitor problems. Feel like we're having to pester constantly for things to be moved along. I honestly want to hit my head against a brick wall! We've had an email today from her that harping back to issue we thought we'd settled a month ago.

I really need to complete by September but just can't see it happening!!

Housemum · 06/08/2018 23:21

barbara - find out more about the probate sale, these things can take a long time. SIL has just bought somewhere from a probate sale - sellers (the executors or whoever) were relatives who barely knew Mr X and hadn't been to the house for years. Every single question was ignored or answered "unknown". They live 4 hours drive away. All sorted in the end but a long process - more so than they expected.
I shall pop in occasionally but bowing out of this thread as moving in tomorrow. Sweating like a pig and surrounded by boxes. Lovely soon-to-be-ex neighbours invited us round for a barbecue so that saved us making anything dirty for dinner! Am resting for a few minutes after sweeping round every cupboard and back of door for any forgotten items.
Good luck everyone xxx

kizkiz · 07/08/2018 10:40

Well things have moved on
Buyers are taking an indemnity policy to cover the shed, and we are talking exchange dates. Hopefully exchange will be next week and move on the 28th Grin

RiddleyW · 07/08/2018 10:48

Well we're now trying to exchange today. This process is going to kill me at this rate!

TrashKitten10 · 07/08/2018 11:51

Can I join? We had an offer accepted in April and were told everything was pretty much in place in the already existing chain and so it was all just down to us getting sorted ASAP. We (FTB) were probably a bit naive to it all and sped through getting all of our stuff sorted so we didn’t hold up the chain. Anyway, we have been ready now for months but there just seems to be one issue after another at the top of the chain. We have had so many different potential dates, various stories about where we are up to and we still haven’t exchanged. Most recent update is that we might exchange this week or it might be late September. Starting to feel really frustrated and down about it all as it seems every party has a different version of events as to what’s happening and we are getting no closer to buying our first home.

Fuckedoffat48b · 07/08/2018 14:37

Have finally exchanged. About sodding time.

legolimb · 07/08/2018 14:50

Nice one Fuckedoff - at last.

Good luck to everyone else who is waiting.

I still haven't heard a definite date.

Pearlsofmadness · 07/08/2018 19:51

@emdude Sorry to hear you’re having the same solicitor problems. It really is such a frustrating process. It also annoys me so much that there’s nothing we can do to get it moving quicker either.

Glad to hear some PPs are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel & exchanging Wine

emdude · 08/08/2018 06:29

We are apparently still waiting on replies from the Highways Agency (our new house is approx 250m from a main road) and HS2 (which will run through our borough - be it 10 miles from our house). Anyone have any experience with either of these things? We thought they were settled weeks ago as we had stated to the solicitor that neither of these things bothered us.

Do we HAVE to have these replies back before we proceed?

Fuckedoffat48b · 08/08/2018 13:01

Thank you legolimb. Just spend a morning booking in various tradespeople for the day after we complete.

In other news, my bastard landlord now won't acknowledge the notice we served her yesterday. Git.

emdude · 08/08/2018 20:10

@Fuckedoffat48b How can a landlord not acknowledge your notice?! That's ridiculous!! Can your solicitor help?

We spoke to the vendors estate agent today. Apparently we're all working toward exchange by Friday and completion by the 17th, and my solicitor should be aware of this. Can't see it happening, mainly because my solicitor seems to be living in her own little world...

Fuckedoffat48b · 08/08/2018 20:22

@emdude they have just ignored it. We sent an email last night and there has been no response. We sent a hard copy of our tenancy notice special delivery this morning so they should get it tomorrow and if no response will need to follow up with calls etc.

HopefullyMoving · 08/08/2018 22:54

No idea emdude

It seems sellers solicitors have been sat on our enquiries for two weeks and done nothing with them. Ridiculous. Not sure if we'll be able to wrap this up in a week Confused

RangerLady · 09/08/2018 08:44

We had a call from the estate agent that has made me nervous. Our vendors "aren't seeing anywhere they like but definitely really want to move". It's only been 3 weeks since offer accepted and after we sold ours it took us 6 weeks to get somewhere so I was unconcerned. But now they've phoned specifically to tell us that I am?!

JustLurk1ng · 09/08/2018 09:32

We're still waiting to exchange. All paperwork completed with us and our sellers (top of the chain). The buyers have also finally got their arse in gear and almost ready to exchange. But I find it so irritating that I won't know about the rest of the chain until our buyers are ready... and then only their buyers etc etc. There should be some kind of app where you can view everyone in your chain and what stage of their purchase they are at. Anyone a budding developer/entrepreneur here?

Sending positive vibes to everyone!

SistersOfPercy · 09/08/2018 10:48

Well, today is the completion day we asked for and the Solicitors are ignoring us. No response to call or email yesterday and they seem to be avoiding this mornings call.
Seems the solution to their cock up of not actually applying for the funds in time is to bury their heads in the sand and ignore us.

DH just sent an absolutely scathing email. Can't see it happening today though. Wankers.

RiddleyW · 09/08/2018 11:17

Yeah we are in the same boat Lurking. Just gone completely silent. We were "definitely" exchanging last Friday. Then it was definitely Monday, Tuesday and yesterday. I am close to just throwing in the towel and getting back on the market.

HopefullyMoving · 09/08/2018 15:53

Well it looks like things are moving again in preparation for exchange next week. Just waiting for one search to come back and the response to enquiries (but I already know the answers because we are in touch with sellers directly).
So fingers crossed we exchange early next week!

kizkiz · 09/08/2018 17:36

So much for next week......it happened today instead GrinGrin
All safely exchanged and moving on the 28th.
House went on the market may 14th, so didn't take long in the end

SistersOfPercy · 09/08/2018 21:48

We're in! Completed at four and ive been cleaning and painting all night.

Good luck all x

HopefullyMoving · 09/08/2018 22:25

That's great news. Love hearing people exchanging and completing.

Just one question (I've only ever bought before, not sold and bought at the same time). What happens on completion day?
We've agreed a tentative date with buyers and seller but I've got commitments in the morning until lunchtime (although available on the phone) and evening.

We are in a unique situation whereby we will have already moved in so it's more of a question of what calls need to be made with mortgage company and or solicitor? Do I need to be present for anything?
