Good luck pooky

We have spent the day packing up and sorting and tidying.

DS is really struggling, today has been tough, us trying to pack, him being very unsettled.

More packing tomorrow then packers are coming Monday to do the rest of the house. Need to go and say bye to the neighbours as well.

PookyHook · 24/06/2018 12:54

Atthebottomofthesea, good luck with the packing. I can't wait to be at your stage.

I hope your ds settles in to the new house quickly once you have moved. I have two dc with autism. One of them has been really struggling with the idea of moving. I had hoped to get moved in the summer holidays so he has a chance to settle before he starts a new school year, but it doesn't look like we will now.

Atthebottomofthesea · 24/06/2018 21:26

Thanks pooky I am absolutely shattered, we have only packed the loft/garage/bits and bobs (packers come tomorrow) but it was much more than I anticipated, not helped one bit by the high temps today - the loft was like a sauna.

All the best for your dc. This isn't a great time as at their school the children transition into the next year for the last few weeks so move Wednesday, school summer fayre Thursday, off Friday and then starts with a new teacher and classroom on Monday.

I'm at work tomorrow - I will be grateful for the break.

egdehsdrawkcab · 24/06/2018 22:10

Good luck atthebottom! I can't believe how much stuff keeps coming out of my relatively small house.

We might exchange this week. I doubt it though. 🤣

Atthebottomofthesea · 25/06/2018 12:19

Thank you.

Contracts being exchanged today, packers in the house today, move Wednesday.

Good luck everyone. Just could have done without the heatwave.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 25/06/2018 13:20

Can I join the wait? Offer made and accepted on vacant property end of May, Full survey done 6th June and back the following week.....all was absolutely fine so happy with that
Then searches being undertaken ever since Confused....once they are ( eventually complete) we are good to go, however this wait is so frustrating as we are cash buyers no mortgage and no chain and storage costs for our possession are costing around £100 a week.
We have paid the storage until November but we can get the money back for any unused time..... and this will go towards the re-wiring and new central heating and decorating before we move in.
The most frustrating part is the house is sitting there empty just waiting......

PookyHook · 25/06/2018 14:35

MissCherry I hope you don't have too much longer to wait. Our buyer is a cash buyer, she's living at her sisters while she's waiting. I feel so bad making her wait so long.

We officially pulled out of our house purchase today. We're viewing another house this evening and then will make an offer on one tomorrow. Then if it's accepted we'll be back into surveys, valuations etc all over again.

God I can't wait until this whole process is over.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 25/06/2018 16:03

Pooky I couldn't agree more it all seems so endless doesn't it 😞

mangocoveredlamb · 25/06/2018 17:15

That’s sounds like hard work Pooky.

We went back to see the house we’re buying on saturday. We live it more than ever, but the state of the decor is so much worse (not bad just tired, marked etc) than we’d remembered.
We offered our buyer half what they asked for off, but we’re still coming up £8-9k short on our purchase.

Those of you who can’t beleive how much stuff is coming out of your houses are giving me the fear!!

Atthebottomofthesea · 25/06/2018 20:37

pooky Hope this evening's viewing went well and one of the houses is right for you.

We are on the home straight (hopefully), a lot went into the van today, but they still have quite a bit for Wednesday. A lot of the stuff was from the loft glares at dh A loft is a double edged sword, great for storage but also just a place to keep stuff that you wouldn't otherwise.

egdehsdrawkcab · 25/06/2018 20:44

Oh how true..... our loft has been RIDICULOUS - also 90% DH's stuff. New house doesn't even have a loft!!! Confused

Atthebottomofthesea · 25/06/2018 20:48

A loft was pretty much on top of dh's list of wants.

mangocoveredlamb · 25/06/2018 21:16

I’m dreading emptying the loft!

Notmorewashing · 25/06/2018 21:45

Congrats atthebottomofthesea !!

No news here, solicitor AWOL. July will be 4 months since offers all accepted !!!!

egdehsdrawkcab · 25/06/2018 21:49

Our buyers solicitor also seems to have gone silent. 3 month's now and counting.....

MissCherryCakeyBun · 25/06/2018 22:32

Most of our life is stored in a storage place and moving it is going to be nightmarish...luckily that mean no loft

Going to go to the solicitors in the morning and see the conveyancer face to face so it's harder for him to lie about what's going on Grin

Those that are facing endless waits do you have a fixed rate on your conveyance ? We do and I am wondering if it's make him act more of a sloth

legolimb · 25/06/2018 22:45

I'm waiting too. Seems to be taking an age..

We're in a chain which had a near collapse but back on track.

I want some dates as it feels like we are in limbo. Can't make too many plans just in case.

GinUnicorn · 26/06/2018 07:54

Can I join this thread? Want to cry. We were due to exchange Friday and our buyer just pulled out. Apparently just changed his mind. Angry Hate flaky buyers. We now have to tell the property we offered on that we can no longer go forward until we have a new buyer.

legolimb · 26/06/2018 08:03

Oh no!!!!

That is awful.

Atthebottomofthesea · 26/06/2018 08:24

Oh no gin. That is awful.

There needs to be a better system in place, housing buying in England, at least, is a nightmare.

mangocoveredlamb · 26/06/2018 08:27

Oh Gin, good luck.
This is my biggest fear.

PookyHook · 26/06/2018 09:49

Oh no Gin. I hope you find another buyer quickly.

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 26/06/2018 11:28

Oh Gin, that's awful. I hate flaky buyers, we had one of those.

No progress on ours. Buyers waiting on the leasehold pack. Hopefully that'll be with them in the next couple of days.

PleaseSell2018 · 26/06/2018 16:13

Flowers Gin

This system is horrendous. We are 9 weeks and hoping to exchange this week and I'm not sure I can stand the waiting any longer.

Nothing we can do but wait though, I know.

MaMaMaMySharona · 26/06/2018 16:33

Gin that is awful, I'm so sorry to hear that!

I'm joining as a keen listener - although it's not my own house being sold, I've been going through the journey with my DM for 2 years now (her house was originally listed just after the Brexit result was announced). Since then we've had 3 buyers all pull out just before exchange (often after having us strung along for months after the 'exchange date') and all for completely different reasons! We've now got someone who sounds pretty straightforward, his offer was accepted on our house on 6th June and my DM had her offer accepted on her dream home on 15th June.

My DMs solicitor has been through this process with us the whole way and said she's never seen anything this bad in her life!

Wishing luck to everyone in this thread waiting on exchange/completion - hopefully I'll have something positive to report on in the coming weeks, or it's back on Gin
