Woo! Congratulations Hatehighheels Glad to hear you're in! Smile

Glad to hear it was all worth it in the end Lubey. Smile

Very frustrating that the chain couldn't muster up 5k each Yoga. The people we're buying from are divorcing so you'd think 2.5k each would be a small price to pay to move on with their lives. The husband is refusing to budge though, says he'll put the house back on the market again before reducing further. Don't know about the circumstances of the lady his wife is buying from. Given the fact its been about 6 months since we initially sale agreed you'd think they'd all of been able to save a bit of money since then to counteract the loss? Hmm

drspouse · 27/01/2018 14:21

We have finally accepted an offer on our house (11 months on the market but switched EA in Sept and finally got some viewings).
Our buyers have a cash offer but we suspect they may try and offer less at survey.

Happyclownjuggling · 27/01/2018 17:31

Hopefully good news here, I had a meeting with our estate agent and they agreed they hadn't checked buyer as thoroughly as perhaps could have brought their withdrawal sooner, saving us 5.5m wasted.
Got agreement for dual agency without fees and they've suddenly got creative and found 3 viewings for next 7 days. Fingers crossed!
Good luck everyone else who's moving forwards. Massive sympathies for anyone stuck in chain or stagnant market x x

CocosMummy · 29/01/2018 09:12

Morning all! Fingers crossed for things moving this week.

Congratulations @Hatehighheels! Sorry they left it is such a state for you.

@Pixiedust1973 sorry to hear that they wouldn't compromise, like you said, you'd think they'd just want it all over!

@YogaDrone survey is being done this Friday. I can't see anything going wrong, but I thought that on the first one! It is an older house (mid Victorian) so I guess my only worry is the wear and tear that's gone before. I'm moving to West Yorkshire, the house is in a lovely little village and I want it so badly!

drspouse · 29/01/2018 09:43

Solicitor has been instructed, and I'm giving my old neighbours hints about what to say LOUDLY if they happen to walk past our house and someone is there (we like our old neighbours, apart from the one who complained that our alarm had "kept going off", well that's a shame, but if you don't tell us when it goes off, how else can we know?
She also told me that the nurse on night shift down the road had complained of it going off in the day but the nurse later told me she had never heard it...
Crossing our fingers the buyers don't find ridiculous things to complain about in the survey (we are moderately confident there won't be huge issues as we've recently had the damp checked etc.)

KitKat1985 · 29/01/2018 09:44

Yay! Congrats DrSpouse! You must be so relived!

Fingers crossed for the viewings Happyclownjuggling!

Everything is so slow over with us. Our solicitors STILL haven't heard from VSC's solicitors, and I haven't heard anything back about the responses to our solicitors enquiries for the house we are buying (which were sent about 3 weeks ago now). Why is nothing progressing?!? We're away on holiday 1st-11th Feb which isn't great timing (we thought we would have moved long before this holiday came around to be honest) and I bet my right arm after nothing happening for weeks everyone will suddenly on the 1st of Feb have something for us which needs to be done urgently! Lol!

Ezs23 · 30/01/2018 11:55

Hi folks. Can I join in too Smile
We were originally at the bottom of a small chain of three. Top of chain said they were going into rented. All due to exchange yesterday. Told yesterday afternoon top of chain is now buying and will not exchange until their vendors are ready to exchange. Currently waiting to see what sort of a chain we're now in Sad
Feeling very deflated!!!!

drspouse · 30/01/2018 12:46

Oh no Ez!
We have our documents from the solicitor and an online list of things they have done/have yet to do. All seems much more organised than last time when we didn't know what needed doing/had been done.
Only slight problem is they have us both down under DH surname.
My to do list includes contacting the bank we have our BTL mortgage with to ask how to pay it off. Yay!

YogaDrone · 30/01/2018 16:55

That's such a shame Pixie Sad Although perhaps one offer will lead to the next. Fingers crossed for you as always Flowers

Fantastic news drspouse Wine wishing you a stressful process from here on Flowers

Just a couple of days left until the full move in then lubey Grin Your new home sounds fantastic. Really hope you are happy there Flowers

Woo-hoo Hatehighheels all the best in your new home Flowers

Fingers crossed for you Happyclownjuggling. Hopefully one of these viewings will lead to a good offer for you!

Keep on at your solicitor to chase VSC's solicitor KitKat. Hopefully by the time you get back from your holiday some decent progress will have been made. Have a great break and try not to stress too much!

That's shitty Ezs23 Angry That sort of unilateral decision really pisses me off! A fundamental change to the circumstances of the chain should have to be agreed by the whole chain not just be subject to one person's whim. Wine and Cake and more Wine for you!

We're settling in now and I'm starting to actually sleep through the night again (lots of missed sleep to catch up on though!) I really love our new house, the pain and stress and crap of the last 6 months was worth it after all Smile

OP posts:
drspouse · 30/01/2018 17:10

Yoga hopefully you meant stress free!

We know the buyers have to go and visit the mortgage provider (we assume just to switch to the new house but as all the banks are so much more nervous who knows).
I think we have to go in and show ID to the solicitors again but again (as we bought our house in April so less than a year since we did that already) who knows.

drspouse · 30/01/2018 17:11

(But it is very nice not to have to plan the actual moving part - we already did that - there are a few bits and pieces we dressed the old house with that need to be removed, and the paying off the BTL mortgage needs to be arranged and ditto the mini-mortgage that was left on the old house).

KitKat1985 · 30/01/2018 18:57

That's really poor of your vendors Ezs23 to spring that on you on such short notice. I'd be asking for money off the asking price as a compensation for the unexpected delay, (which lets be honest, depending on the length of the chain, could be weeks or months longer than you had anticipated).

Glad things are progressing Drspouse! Fingers crossed everything goes quickly and smoothly now.

I'm really pleased you are settling in Yoga and that all the stress was worth it. x

Ezs23 · 30/01/2018 19:10

It's nice to follow the stories that end well on here! Good luck to all currently going through this. I'd managed to keep my stress levels down until yesterday Gin

YogaDrone · 30/01/2018 20:57

Stress FREE, stress FREE, stress FREE!! Argh.... sorry drspouse - wouldn't wish any more stress on anyone!

Ezs23 · 31/01/2018 11:27

Well the top of our chain are adamant they're moving into rented apparently Hmm so that now makes us a chain of 4.
Our EA has told us the top of the chain are trying to rush things through as quickly as possible and aiming for an end of Feb completion although he doesn't think it's likely. Our vendors will only move at the end of a month due to mortgage repayments Sad so I'm guessing it'll be end of march/easter holidays when no doubt the removals companies will be on a premium.

drspouse · 31/01/2018 11:29

If you know anything about mortgages do have a look at my other question here

CocosMummy · 31/01/2018 11:41

drspouse keeping fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for you.

Ezs23, I'm sorry they changed things last minute, I'd have been raging! I hadn't thought of removal companies putting their prices up either, I'm hoping to move mid April at the latest and really don't want to have to do it all myself.

Ezs23 · 31/01/2018 11:59

CocosMummy I might be wrong as we've not used a removals company before but I've read they sometimes change more on a Friday so I'm guessing school holidays might be the same?

drspouse · 31/01/2018 12:02

Coco we moved locally over a Friday/Saturday (they kept our boxed up stuff on the Friday night and we kept beds/kettle etc.) and it was the 1st May bank holiday weekend so somewhat equivalent i.e. more popular for moving.
I don't remember there being a premium and most of the firms we asked said that either Fri or Sat (or a 2 day job which for them means fewer movers) was the same price as another day.
It's booking it up you need to do really but again lots of people have little notice.

YogaDrone · 31/01/2018 17:22

Our removals didn't charge us any different to move on a Friday Ezs23. To be honest we didn't want to move on a Friday but ended up doing so through circumstances.

CocosMummy · 31/01/2018 19:35

Good to know, thank you. One less thing to worry about!

Pixiedust1973 · 31/01/2018 20:41

No news here. Sad The guy who viewed last Wednesday hasn't come back with feedback & ignores messages from us & the EA. Very rude! Angry We get the message, would just like confirmation as to why! I'm guessing its next door, because he did seem a bit taken aback when he went out into the garden & saw their hideous structure/eyesore!

Im not sure how much longer I can put up with this. Its 10 months today since we first went on the market, yet we're back to square one! Sad

blinkineckmum · 31/01/2018 22:58

After 2 weeks of waiting to hear if our offer had been accepted, the vendor came back to us today. He said if we could find a bit more money we could keep the sideboard in the dining room!

TheDailyMailLovesTheEUReally · 02/02/2018 18:58

Bobbing into say congrats to Drspouse - it's been a long time coming! I'm so happy for you Flowers

Hope everyone else is OK. Am on the wine after the quote from the tree surgeon after the health-check on the 29 (yes really!) trees we have in the garden...

Happyclownjuggling · 03/02/2018 14:19

Hi all,
Ez and Pixie, that is a really frustrating week. We've had similar, will join you on the Wine!
So, EA 1 drummed up 4 viewings within 24hrs of us putting on another agent too. They've reported this morning that 2 cancelled, 1 didn't show and 1 liked it but its too close to a road. Hmm
So back to square 1 with them, no viewings yet for next week.
EA 2 who were very confident they had several no chain investors who'd offer within 2wks and complete within 6wks have so far produced no viewings in thei first week. 1 week to go with their 'definite definite quick sale'.
To add insult to injury we also reduced it on EA recommendation and I still haven't sold it - ok, so only 1wk later but patience isn't my strong point! Grin
