Bax, that looks so cool and yes, very food progress.

This is what my garden view is at the moment.
There’s a massive hole in the middle for a mew soakaway. Not sure if it shows on the pic. We could have hidden a few bodies in there.

bax - roof looking good!

Had a bit of a stress here yesterday over whether the insulation the builders are using will be up to the u-values specified, but a quick chat with building control helped allay my fears about it. So the structure is now being swathed in what looks at lot like tin foil. It's very space age Grin. Cedar cladding will go over the top of this in the next couple of weeks.

First fix electrics are now completed. The electrician is coming next week to change the fuse board inside the house - first bit of serious interior change requiring some packing. I have ordered a bunch of interior and exterior lights - see pics (the grey ones are exterior).

First fix for UFH circuits starts next week too! Grin

Glorious - I am chasing up the door, I haven't forgotten!

We have sliding doors 😍

Titsywoo · 02/11/2017 16:23

So much progress at the moment for lots of us on here!

They are moving fast here - tiles started going up on the dormer and that is half done in just one day! The plasterer did one bedroom today and the velux window frames are in. The foundation of the porch has been built too.

We are getting a bit dusty here as well. Not awful but it's certainly going to get worse early next week when they break through the front of the house to the new porch.

It's only been 6 weeks but I am looking forward to getting my house back in a couple of weeks!

DustandRubble · 02/11/2017 16:27

We have no floor! But all is going well. The plan is once the steels and electrics are in they will have one team working on the extension and one in the kitchen which goes in the existing half.

We may not have a completed extension for Christmas but they are aiming to give us the kitchen.

We may need to try and move out for a few days though as we could lose water due to some pipe work that needs doing and they have to do some stuff in the kids room and our tiny spare room is so filled with crap we are not sure where the kids could sleep.

glorious · 02/11/2017 23:00

Thanks whisky, no pressure!

devondream · 03/11/2017 05:07

Good to see all the progress.

Still waiting for the scree to dry and the tiles to arrive.

We will miss out kitchen fitters spot by 2-3 days for up the delayed tiles. So kitchen will go in on 21/22 December.

Could be interesting cooking Christmas lunch in an unfamiliar kitchen 😋

whiskyowl · 03/11/2017 08:47

Oh devon - how lovely it'll be to have a kitchen in for Christmas! And a roast is a really good test drive of it all! Smile

So I have a big birthday next week. All my friends who are the same age are doing amazing things like flying to New York or Hong Kong.
But it looks like it'll be the same day as the electrics and plumbing are done. Confused Ah well. I'm going out with friends in the evening. Smile

NamedyChangedy · 03/11/2017 10:59

Ooh @Believeitornot how do the doors look?! Did you spend all night opening and closing them? 😄

And @devondream what kind of worktops are you having? Can they be fitted at the same time as the kitchen? I've been thinking about whether we could make do with temporary / chipboard tops if we end up being super-close to Xmas, just so it's usable, then fit the proper stuff afterwards.

NamedyChangedy · 03/11/2017 11:08

Had a thought yesterday - does anyone worry that their builder will happen upon this thread and recognise themselves from the posts & pics? I think twatchops would probably cry @TeamRick!

I'm actually very fond of my builder by now, so I don't think I've said anything he wouldn't agree with. Still won't send him a link to it though!!

Believeitornot · 03/11/2017 11:21

@NamedyChangedy they look great! I got home after dark so had a go this morning but the plasterer is here so have to wait for him to have lunch before I can get pics. It's sunny so lots of light although tiny bit regretting not going for velux windows (although I remind myself this was because it's south facing and it will be bright enough)

hahaha yes, I suppose our builder could recognise - but I think I've been fair... I think Grin
actually he's in my good books anyway

Whatthefoxgoingon · 03/11/2017 13:48

Marvellous progress this week m’dears! We need more pics Smile

Believeitornot · 03/11/2017 14:50

Sliding doors. I need to get a photo from the outside as well.

Electrician and plasterer here at the moment. Luckily the electrician has a brain and thought to check how many sockets we wanted in the kitchen. Because he’d wired in a sum total of none based on the wrong plan he was given 🙈

I have door envy believe!! They are gorgeous!

whiskyowl · 03/11/2017 15:43

They're gorgeous believe! What colour did you go for?

I think Twatchops deserves to see this thread!! Grin If I were rick I'd be tempted to leave the laptop open just so he saw it!

My builder has been great so far. More insulation going on today.

Baxdream · 03/11/2017 15:53

We have moved out for a few days so the builders have full reign 😱 I’m hoping that it’ll be totally different when we go back!
In fairness it’s not much of a home at the moment. I just have to remind myself that it’s all worth it in the end!!

NamedyChangedy · 03/11/2017 15:54

@Believeitornot I too have severe door envy. Mine (due to be fitted on Monday now) will look like a poor imitation of these - we originally wanted super thin Crittal ones but had to compromise as everything else became more expensive. We also had some structural problems along the way so ours are only half the width of the back wall. Yours are lovely!

I see what you mean about not needing the Velux, it'll be a fabulously bright space with those!

Believeitornot · 03/11/2017 16:16

Thanks! We are losing kitchen space because we wanted full width doors - but we have a utility room so less of an issue.

They're some sort of light grey - cant remember the name - from the sliding door company. Not the super expensive ones sadly but still ££

DancingOnParsnips · 03/11/2017 16:29

Oh my word! Where were you people when we had builders in last year? I wish I had found the thread if it was running then.

They've gone now and I've nearly recovered ... nearly ... Grin

whiskyowl · 03/11/2017 16:38

Tell us all how great it will be when we are finished parsnips! We need encouragement! And pictures of lovely, clean, rubble-free new extensions....

Believeitornot · 03/11/2017 16:57

Doh the doors are from express bifolds not the sliding door company (which I clearly made up).

Electrician has just left and has wired in some spots temporarily for us. It makes a huge difference!

Whattodowithaminute · 03/11/2017 17:03

Gorgeous believe really seeing the space taking shape!

devondream · 03/11/2017 20:35

Fortunately our kitchen surfaces are arriving with the kitchen. We are in Germany and ordered an Alno kitchen only for them to go bust the next day! They were bought out and restarted production but the kitchen supplier told us they were experiencing lots of delays and missing parts and offered us another more expensive make at the same price!!!! Smile

That was in the summer and the super flash kitchen and kitchen surfaces arrived at their depot today.

Hope everyone ai surging the dust and chaos.
