Assuming all you lovely people in a chain still need a support group? Here it is......

Well. Completion day has arrived & I'm hungover. A glass of wine over the front fence with nextdoor turned into 3 bottles of wine. I'm so going to have a bad day xxSad

m0therofdragons · 07/07/2017 09:11

Haha nic I like your style!

We've started packing and sorting the loft and I'm slightly concerned we only have 4 weekends in which to pack. God we have so much stuff it's not even funny. 3dc and 11 years of clever storage solutions are biting me on the bum!

Nic083 · 07/07/2017 09:56

I so wouldn't do it mother I'm so rough. All our worldly possessions are now outside & Just got to clean.

donkey86 · 07/07/2017 15:20

Supposed to be completing today. Been sat outside the new house since 12.30 and can't get the keys because our buyer's mortgage company hasn't released their funds to buy ours yet. I'm getting worried that it's not going to work out today :/ I really hope we don't have to go elsewhere for the weekend and rearrange everything with the removers. Trying to breathe and tell myself there are a couple of hours to play with yet... Argh!

emma8t4 · 07/07/2017 15:39

oh no donkey86 fingers crossed that you get the green light soon.

donkey86 · 07/07/2017 15:50

Does anyone know what the procedure is if the money isn't released in time? Presumably we've got to find somewhere to stay for the weekend, and arrange storage of our stuff? Are our buyers accountable for the delay costs as it's their money that will have held everyone up? I hope it doesn't come to that but it's getting more likely as time passes...

m0therofdragons · 07/07/2017 16:53

Oh god donkey, call the solicitor and ask for advice. We didn't get in this house until 4.30pm because the seller's solicitor wouldn't confirm they'd received the funds because she was on a 5 house business lunch! Fingers crossed for you x

Nic083 · 07/07/2017 20:08

Donkey. Similar thing happened to us today. All our stuff on the van. Our buyers solicitor didn't request funds warily enough at 3.15 it wasn't happening then at 3.58 it was all go but having officially completed. All solicitors have record funds but our sellers solicitor the accountant had gone home they have let us into new house on a licence till complete officially Monday. Half our stuff still at old house so removals have to come back tomorrow at an extra cost. Our solicitor said we can claim it back though. X

Florence16 · 07/07/2017 20:23

Hope you're ok Donkey, that's awful!! DH didn't leave our place until the call was made about funds all being in.

Our removals people managed to bring a van that was too small, so had to go and get another..! That delayed us a bit. DH got in new house about 3pm. I've been at work but here now, it was definitely worth all the stress!! Our sellers left us a nice little card and said to call them if we have any problems with the heating or anything, so lovely. Their estate agent was a right sod and caused lots of problems and their solicitor wasn't great either. Worth it in the end though, fingers crossed for some more completions today...

Re packing we paid a company to do it, £300 or so with who we went with in the end and they've done a very good job to be honest. Everything is easy to find and well packed so far.

donkey86 · 07/07/2017 21:03

Sounds like a lot of chains were running slowly today! We eventually completed at 4.57. Real skin of the pants stuff. I think people above us in the chain may have been less lucky. We had to pay the removers £180 overtime, but it could have been worse!

m0therofdragons · 08/07/2017 10:55

Great news donkey

I've still no idea re moving day as vendor was relying on a Saturday move.

badgercat · 09/07/2017 16:04

Aren't weekends a complete waste of time when selling 🙄

We should find out tomorrow (although I've been saying tomorrow for 3 weeks) what's going on with our sale & purchase. My buyer returned from holiday Friday but hasn't been in contact - he's a cash buyer who has yet to instruct his solicitor a month into the process,

Basically have to hope he's buying our house with no survey and no searches because if not the whole thing is going to fall through 😔

Exciting to read all the completion and moving in posts! Congratulations to those in their new homes

m0therofdragons · 09/07/2017 17:17

I emailed solicitor on Thursday but she hasn't replied and dh was given the job of calling. Thursday afternoon he forgot and Friday left it too late and they apparently finish early on a Friday (doesn't make me want to move on a Friday!)

We've had a weekend packing a few boxes but it's hard to get truly stuck in without a date. Managed to pack some kitchen stuff I can go without including an electric steamer - box sealed with steamer buts but I forgot to put the base in so they'll have to go separate now! I'm so crap at this!

joystir59 · 10/07/2017 14:46

We have exchanged! Due to complete 27th July. Phew! It has taken 10 months to get to this point and has been the most stressful event ever! Never again!

AwkwardPaws27 · 10/07/2017 15:00

We finally found out why our buyer isn't responding to queries about the final couple of things we need to sort before exchange - their solicitor was on holiday.

I swear everyone involved is having/has had a holiday except me and I need one now

They've promised to give us an answer about the queries by tomorrow morning. Meanwhile I have my vendors EA calling me every day putting the pressure on. I'm acting ballsy about it but really I'd like a little cry.

DP tried to take over and deal with it to give me a break but couldn't cope with the stress after 3 days so it's back on me Hmm

CoshPunt · 10/07/2017 15:00

Think it's all about to fall apart. The seller has decided he will give us a decision on whether or not the sale is going ahead... tomorrow. Why now? Why after all this time? 3 months of waiting just for him.. and now this?

badgercat · 10/07/2017 15:52

We are in the same boat with our buyer, 5 weeks of nothing and lots of "yes we still want to buy" but not actually buying. I feel sick, the whole thing has cost us so much money its not funny.

Why would you do that to someone ?!

CoshPunt Hope you get some answers soon.

AwkwardPaws27 · 10/07/2017 16:03

Oh CoshPunt that sounds awful. I hope you get the answer you want tomorrow.

m0therofdragons · 10/07/2017 18:26

Awkwardpaws I delegated to dh and so far he's forgotten to call twice and called when they're closed. Excellent! To be fair he has done a lot of other things so I'll let him off.

Can't believe people are pulling out. Unless something major happens like you are made redundant or diagnosed with cancer etc there should be no backing out. Can't stand flakey people.

We just met a render expert and all is fine so nothing to worry about. Phew! Now we just need to exchange but as solicitor is ignoring me I'm assuming it's not happening this week. Still no feedback on potential move date now vendors have been informed Saturday isn't possible legally. I'm a real planner and dd1 struggles with the unknown so add in end of term tiredness and it's all going a bit wrong. Teacher knows now so hopefully can help her. Dd2&3 couldn't care less as long as the new house has their toys!

Nic083 · 10/07/2017 19:01

We officially completed today after moving in on licence Friday. Our seller & ourselves received extra interest on mortgages, std removal costs plus waiting time & an extra cost to continue moving on Saturday. But luckily because the delay was due to our buyers solicitor not requesting enough funds for their client they have reimbursed us for the additional costs we recieved. Grin

m0therofdragons · 10/07/2017 22:08

Great news nic enjoy your new home!

Emaboo22 · 11/07/2017 09:55

Hi guys - my god, this is so stressful isn't it?
I have a root canal booked in, in a few weeks time and I don't know what's stressing me out more!!

I'm just sitting here waiting. I've filled out the solicitors forms. We've applied for mortgage (just awaiting underwriters decision) and I can't do anything else yet.

Our buyers surveyor is coming next week and I'm paranoid he'll find a crack I never noticed before....

I seem to be eating a lot lately, Can't think why?

Beckyb1 · 11/07/2017 10:29

Can somebody give me a bit of advice. Had the searches reports back. It's come back that the house we are buying has cavity wall insulation. Have only heard horror stories and wanted to know if it is really awful. Also the building regulations didn't flag up the porch. Iv just emailed the solicitor about the porch again and she hasn't replied... Again. Hmm what do I do next?!
Hope everybody else is getting on okay and we'll done to the people who have exchanged/completed!

Boredboredboredboredbored · 11/07/2017 10:29

Welcome to hell ema...! I'm now in month 7 of this nightmare and no end in sight. Buyers survey done yesterday (3rd surveyor I've had now 😖). My solicitor has already sent buyers solicitor the contract pack so it's just that horrid period of hearing nothing for weeks...oh and I've put about a stone on too!!

Emaboo22 · 11/07/2017 11:00

Bored - 7 months!!
Jeez, two weeks of this is doing my head in already. How the hell are you still sane?

Becky - no answers I'm afraid. I'd never heard that cavity wall insulation was bad though?
