Seems we reached 1000 messages so I've started a new one!

OP posts:
CampervanLady · 29/03/2017 10:44

Thank you all :) it will be a miracle if it works out though

ocelot41 · 29/03/2017 18:04

Hiya camper, I have everything crossed this gets sorted for you

CampervanLady · 29/03/2017 18:09

Thank you! Apparently the ultimatum worked but if they aren't mortgageable (despite DIP via broker) then there's not much we can do. Just wish we knew the truth weeks ago!

ocelot41 · 29/03/2017 19:15

Oh bloody hell, why didn't the EA tell you???

thecapitalsunited · 29/03/2017 19:17

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, Camper.

My update for today is that my vendors' vendors have totally pulled out. They were only selling because of financial difficulties and now they stand to inherit some money, they don't need to see and are staying put. Luckily my vendors have had an offer accepted on another property. We still have to wait for those sellers to find a property to buy (and so on and so on I expect!) but at least we're rid of the time wasting people who didn't actually want to move.

ocelot41 · 29/03/2017 20:24

Sounds like it is for the best the capitals, although will means some delays presumably?

Our news is that surveys and searches now back for two of the bods in our chain. The EA for the ftbs at the bottom are still being rubbish about communication. 4 weeks in, we have no idea what's going on with them. Everyone else is onto queries (I.e. not far off exchange). Any ideas about what we can do? We are in a hurry after so many failed sales and just want to get this done!

thecapitalsunited · 29/03/2017 20:41

Yes, I think its for the best too Ocelot. These people didn't really want to leave so in terms of delays we might actually be better off now if we end up with a chain who all want to move. We've wasted 2-3 weeks but hopefully things will get going soon.

Can your EA get the solicitors details for the FTBs? They might be able to ring the solicitor directly for some answers.

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 29/03/2017 20:54

Good god it's all been happening in here. camper I am ridiculously over invested in your sale. The cliffhangers with your hideous buyers are unbearable-I don't know how you have managed. You have nerves of steel! We've been here since November haven't we? But the end is nigh for me at last. We complete on Friday.
Flowers and Gin to everyone here.

ocelot41 · 29/03/2017 21:03

Glory be Arsenic! So happy for youGrin

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 30/03/2017 07:54

Bean hi. I don't think surveys are always done through the lender I think it depends some have it as part of their criteria. We are using Santander and they carried out a survey at our vendors property.

Donkey this thread is making me more determined to make sure our buy is a forever home. It's stressful enough buying.

Camper I really hope it all works out for you. I don't know why people would want to waste all that money on searches and then pull out. Surely with one of the biggest decisions of your life you would make sure you were 100 per cent certain before starting the process. It's completely non sensical. I'll keep fingers crossed for you.

Capitals I hope the whole process goes a lot smoother for you now.

We still haven't had our mortgage offer through. It says on Santanders site that applications are at approx 10.7 days. We applied on the 13th March. Getting super impatient now. They last asked for more information last Wednesday so I've no idea what the hold up is. I took a leap and had our searches done and they've all come back. Grrr.

KilburnOriginal · 30/03/2017 12:49

I really have my fingers crossed for you Camper.
Capital, I hope things go smoothly now for you.

Update here, our Buyer found all our suggested completion dates unacceptable and have suggested the 28th April, I suppose I should be grateful they have done that!. Contacted our EA to see if they can go through the chain (most sales/purchases are through them) to see if this suits all but they are trying to slopey shoulder it to the solicitors. If they just helped out we could all agree quicker and maybe exchange contracts soon. So frustrating.

OutToGetYou · 30/03/2017 12:56

Santender only did a valuation/desktop survey for mine, so I paid for a homebuyer one, it was £500.

The house is 1970's so I decided I wanted it.

ocelot41 · 30/03/2017 14:53

Is anyone else completely knackered? The stress of the last 7 months has really taken a toll. I SO need a holiday, but alas my DS is so lively and chatty that I never feel rested after one. Does anyone else just feel like taking to their bed for a week?

littlemissM92 · 30/03/2017 16:06

I'm well pissed off with it and it's only been 4m for us so far we still haven't exchanged and searches are now gunna be in 8 days after they were originally meant to be

Equimum · 30/03/2017 16:40

Camper, I have everything crossed for you.

Oh no littlemiss. Why the delay?

Yes Ocelot, it's all really exhausting! We're only six weeks in and everything seems stressful (even when it's going according to plan!). I can't imagine how being seven months in must feel.

I'm starting to feel pretty anxious about mortgages etc at the moment. We are anticipating our current house being surveyed in the next couple of weeks and our new house being surveyed very soon afterwards.

OutToGetYou · 30/03/2017 17:15

The mortgage part made me really anxious and tired - I am in a fixed term contract so I knew it would be an issue. I went to bed night after night with numbers running round my head.

In the end it was fine, and the mortgage is less than my cash savings, so I could in fact manage without it. But I prefer to have it and preserve the cash (see: fixed term contract!).

Now my anxiety is around how long everything is taking because the mortgage offer was 3m, we're now 6 weeks into the 13 weeks, and if we go over the 3m I'll have to reapply and I'll be that much closer to the end of my contract (and, no, it won't be extended, no matter how many million times the broker asks me).

And living with the ex is not ideal - though it's better for him as it costs him less.

CampervanLady · 30/03/2017 19:39

This thread is so supportive! Thank you everyone Flowers

well, it looks like it may have been resolved. Waiting for confirmation via solicitors tomorrow morning because we don't believe anything anybody else says anymore. Wankers!

Hopefully I haven't jinxed it by letting you all know our possible good news! Haha! Irrational or what...

ocelot41 · 30/03/2017 19:50

Hurray! Grin

So happy for you Camper. Can you send some fairy dust my way? The ftbs at the bottom of the chain seem to have gone AWOL.

Horrid.Sinking.Feeling.

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 30/03/2017 21:30

Fingers crossed camper and you ocelot. Truly you have both experienced the longest most stressful attempts to move ever known to man. You have my admiration (and exasperation regarding your buyers at times!)
I'm the only person in my chain now and it's still taken forever!

OutToGetYou · 31/03/2017 09:27

Well, as I have had no news at all from anyone, I am looking at two new houses tomorrow. I suspect my vendors will be on here soon complaining about their buyer but they only have themselves to blame.

donkey86 · 31/03/2017 11:36

I really feel for those of you who've had this going on for many months. I'm barely over a week in and finding it stressful enough already. DC1 is due in September and I had assumed we'd be in and settled long before then, but I shall take some of the events people have gone through here as cautionary tales and prepare myself for the possibility of a baby before the move! I really hope it doesn't come to that, though...

What's an average chain length? We're in the middle of a chain of five, which is longer than I'd like, not that I can do anything about it.

Harumff · 31/03/2017 12:33

Don't know about average length but this time and last time we've been in a chain of 4.
3 out of the 4 of us are now ready to exchange and complete next Friday (our buyers really want that date) otherwise it will be after the easter holidays as we're away. FTBs at the bottom of the chain aren't sure about that date yet - they need to bloomin make their mind up today as its next week!!

CampervanLady · 31/03/2017 14:14

Our chain is tiny. Buyer is in rented and we're moving into rented. So the fact it has been a nightmare is unfathomable. I can't imagine what it would be like if we were in a chain!

When it comes to buying again I think we'll only buy a chain free house or a new build.

So, we're back on track but waiting for 2 searches to come back. Which could be another 2 weeks....

I better sit comfortably as I'll be on this thread for a while yet. It would be nice to receive the contract to sign though.

joystir59 · 31/03/2017 15:08

We have sold (STC) to a first time buyer with a deposit in the bank! We should be feeling great now...except that our vendor, who put our dream house back on the market after our buyer's buyer pulled out for the second time, is still keeping his house in the market until we've got a signing date. So we cant relax at all. And have to go through the whole gamut again of waiting for buyer to arrange a survey, waiting for their solicitor to request searches etc etc.

joystir59 · 31/03/2017 15:08

We are knackered. This whole process started Oct last year.
