Seems we reached 1000 messages so I've started a new one!

OP posts:
CampervanLady · 16/03/2017 11:00

Anyone have any good news to share? Feeling relatively low about this entire process. Just had a friend tell me they lost their buyer on the day of exchange!!

We have no updates here. I think everyone has gone quiet as they are doing so much legal crap. Fair enough I guess.

Bad news travels fast so we're kinda hoping that no news is good news. Blush

Iamcheeseman · 16/03/2017 11:42

No news to report here, just keeping everything crossed everyone else is getting on with things like we are. Survey is booked for Monday. Suppose it will be a couple of weeks before I hear about how everyone is getting on with things now. I said when I moved into my current house that I was never moving again. I remember why now!

littlemissM92 · 16/03/2017 12:49

We've got a provisional completion date but I'll believe it when I see it. Going to email sol on Monday and chase again

KilburnOriginal · 16/03/2017 13:46

Hi All

Its gone quiet here too, we were supposed to exchange today but we knew late last week that it wouldn't happen. The bottom of the chain haven't got their mortgage offer yet and others are still dealing with enquiries from searches.
Fingers crossed it will be early next week.
Our developers are still aiming for 31st March completion, however the garage is only half built, bay windows aren't in, neither is the kitchen or bathrooms. We are supposed to do a walk round 1 week before completion for snagging - so I'm pretty convinced the house will not be finished a week tomorrow!
Hey ho, I just want to exchange then I know people won't drop out, after that I don't really mind if it takes a few more weeks - at least we'd know it was happening.
So frustrating....

ocelot41 · 16/03/2017 19:47

Hi camper ! Nice to hear from you and sorry you are feeling low. Our buyers did a structural survey earlier this week and we haven't had any bombs dropping, which I guess is good news? Also our buyers buyers mortgage offer should be through in a couple of weeks. All quiet from the ftb at the bottom though, which is a mite worrying. It really drags when you have been through the mill a few times already, doesn't it? Can't wait until this is not hanging over us any more. Post any time when you want some moral supporting x

thecapitalsunited · 16/03/2017 19:58

Hopefully your buyers are doing what I'm doing and getting a survey just so that there are no nasty surprises and to see how feasible some of the work we want to do it, not as a tool to knock money off. I'm expecting to hear back on that tomorrow or Monday. Maybe I should feedback to the estate agent just so our vendors no we aren't planning to gazunder them with it later.

ocelot41 · 16/03/2017 20:02

I am sure they would appreciate that - one lot of previous buyers I had sat on something minor until the day of exchange and then demanded 15k off. Bastards.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 17/03/2017 12:16

Could I join in please.

We are FTB currently in a rental. We were told on Tuesday that end of chain is a new build with a completion date showing around the end of May. This makes me very nervous as I know new builds can be held up and we have a three year old that starts school in September and need to get him into the school system.

Current situation is that the mortgage lenders need access to the house for the survey but the estate agent isn't getting back to them with a date 😡

thecapitalsunited · 17/03/2017 13:22

I share your fear of new builds, Beautician. Our chain was initially ending in a new build but now isn't and I'm quite relieved. I was having visions of either waiting for months or the builder trying to rush everything through too quickly for me to arrange removals etc.

joystir59 · 17/03/2017 16:46

So very sick of this process. Our chain has collapsed for the second time. We accepted first offer on our house Beginning of Nov last year. Also found our dream house- our vendor has been very patient as our chain collapsed- our buyer's buyer pulled out. Then he got a new buyer, all seemed to be going well and we were ready to sign contracts- and now that buyer has pulled out....and our dream house has now been put back on the market. So we are back to square one. I think this process is designed to wear people down. Guess what- its working.

littlemissM92 · 17/03/2017 17:05

Oh joy that truly is shit! So sorry what's your plan are you going to stay put it try again?

Couldn't agree more it definitely adds stress to what should be an exciting time I cannot wait til we have those keys

CampervanLady · 17/03/2017 17:22

joy what awful news! I am SO sorry to read that your chain has collapsed Sad

We haven't bothered chasing for updates for over a week. We shall next week though. Our neighbours smaller house has just been put up for sale (annoying as they are one of the reasons why we wanted to move!) I'm worried our buyer will choose their house over ours just before exchange of contracts. She's already mentioned our house is a "little too big" and next door suits them more. And is vastly cheaper.

I'm paranoid aren't I Blush

joystir59 · 17/03/2017 17:23

Littlemiss We are taking a day to wallow and tomorrow we will pick ourselves up and dust the house off again ready to go to market.I think we will change estate agents- not saying any of them are better than any other but just want a change of face, new photos and start afresh. Hope you get your keys soon.

joystir59 · 17/03/2017 17:28

Campervan This process makes you paranoid- it is so hard to have any feeling of being in control. I would have said that once someone starts spending money on buying your house (For a survey and searches), you can start to breath a little easier. But both times our chain collapsed our buyer's buyer had paid out money and got a mortgage. In both cases they were buying our buyer's house as an investment property, and it seems to be that maybe in that case the buyer is more likely to change their mind, as they aren't looking for a home to move into. Hold onto you hat! Hope you get good news when you chase next week.

littlemissM92 · 17/03/2017 17:46

Campervan that would not put me at ease !

thecapitalsunited · 17/03/2017 18:17

Sorry to hear your shit news Joy. There's so many things to go wrong in this process. Hopefully you find something even better than your dream house and get a new buyer who will see the process through.

ocelot41 · 17/03/2017 18:38

I am really sorry to hear your news Joy. I am on the fourth time round now - sickening isn't it?

DobbyLovesSocks · 17/03/2017 22:29

So sorry to hear news Joy.

We are moving forwards with our purchase; solicitors requested the searches today, homebuyers report being done on Monday and just waiting for draft contact pack and property forms.
Our buyers have arranged for an asbestos check on Wednesday (we know there is concrete asbestos due to the time the house was built so hoping that won't cause any issues).
Am cautiously optimistic for a late spring move

MissDuke · 18/03/2017 16:14

Joy I am so so so sorry!!! I really hope you find another buyer soon. Your poor buyer too getting messed around so badly. Do you think surveys on their property were throwing up problems?

We are still in limbo. Got through some stuff from land registry which we cannot make head nor tail of so waiting to speak to solicitor on Monday. I really don't know what is happening, my husband speaks to her (she is his sister) but he doesn't ask for details. Whereas I want to know what exactly is and isn't done! He just trusts she is getting on with it so doesn't ask.

Have spent far too much money lately on stuff for the new house and hubby is getting fed up with all the stuff everywhere Blush

feejee · 20/03/2017 11:42

Hello, can I join in? Just had a call to say no 1 in our chain has finally got their mortgage offer, so were all set to go. Our buyer is no2 in chain has the offer and survey done, we have our mortgage offer - bit weird but the bank don't want a valuation survey and have sent the offer within a week of application going in without it. This is all new to me, as our current house was bought by my husband before we were living together. I'm not sure how many people are further up the chain, obviously there's us, then our sellers who have offered on another place. Seems like a lot of eggs to keep in the basket, so i'm not getting too excited - just a little bit today as we have been waiting a few weeks for no 1 to do something.

joystir59 · 20/03/2017 12:15

Well we were going to change estate agent but after speaking with them we've agreed to carry on- but with new photos and we will reduce the asking price now and. It is a relief to let go of almost 6 months of waiting for our buyer to get a secure buyer- so sick of that chain! So perhaps we will get a simpler chain and yes- if our dream house is no longer available there will be other houses. Good luck to everyone this week- I hope that every single one of you receives some good news! Thank you for your support- this is soooo stressful. It is good to remember that we have a lovely roof over our heads. we are fortunate to enjoy good health and we can make ends meet- people are going through far far worse than this. Onwards and upwards!

joystir59 · 20/03/2017 12:16

ocelot41 4th time round? I am surprised you are still human! Hope it is a case of fourth time lucky for you.

thecapitalsunited · 20/03/2017 12:56

We've been told our mortgage offer has been approved but I won't really believe it until the paperwork lands on the doormat! Our buyers valuation took place today. Hopefully there is no problem with it.

I think the most stressful thing about all this for me is the lack of control you have. We're pretty organised people but you can't control what other people do or don't do. Our buyer has instructed some ropey conveyancing warehouse which is bound to hold things up while we have paid extra for good local solicitors and so have our vendors.

joystir59 · 20/03/2017 13:17

Yep, it is the lack of control and people not telling you exactly what is going on, but what they think you want to hear. Grrrr! Anyway, we've got a viewing booked for Thursday. I shouldn't be in this group now- we are no longer in a chain Sad

littlemissM92 · 20/03/2017 16:13

Well we have a completion date !
