A 'waiting for viewings and offers' support group?

TheWanderingUterus · 17/11/2016 13:24

Not quite ready for the 'in a chain' support group (please please don't let it be too long!), but we have just put our house up for sale and are waiting for viewings. Mostly cleaning and primping and procrastinating, with occasional adrenaline bursts when the phone rings.

Anyone else in the same position wanting to share the angst?

Thanks Alias. Its killing me not knowing!!!

GiraffesAndButterflies · 26/11/2016 16:58

Good luck ocelot!

We've accepted an offer! Shock Under our reduced asking price, but, well, needs must. We've made an offer ourselves on perfect-location house, really really hoping that that will get accepted!

ocelot41 · 26/11/2016 17:14

Oh that's wonderful news Giraffe! I am so happy for you!

Aliasnumberone · 26/11/2016 17:48

Congratulations!!! That's brilliant news

NewNorman · 26/11/2016 18:34

Great news! Did you accept the first offer? We had three viewings and one has come back with an offer! I'm not minded to accept as it's their first offer and it is quite a lot below the much-reduced asking price. From what the EA said they're not in a v strong position either. It's progress though!

littlemissM92 · 26/11/2016 18:35

That's great news it's if people getting offers! Ours went up yesterday so I'm just waiting for the phone to ring hopefully sooner rather than later

littlemissM92 · 26/11/2016 19:25

Thank you wow your kitchen !

ocelot41 · 26/11/2016 19:43

Glad it has that effect. It was a LOT of work! Any other thoughts/comments?

flownthecoopkiwi · 26/11/2016 19:58

Lovely looking home, great kitchen ocelot but the one loo would put me off...

ocelot41 · 26/11/2016 20:15

Easy to put another under stairs or where our current utility room is. With check with the EA that they mention this. Thanks!

TheWanderingUterus · 26/11/2016 20:17

So much good news on this thread, I'm so excited for you all! Going to look at the RM links now.

Lots of people on our road have also converted the loft into a master bedroom and en suite too

ocelot41 · 26/11/2016 20:26

Thanks wandering. Looking forward to hearing your feedback

TheWanderingUterus · 26/11/2016 20:45

Little miss your views are fantastic, I'd spend most of my life in the garden if I owned your house.

Ocelot- Your kitchen is very much my husband's dream kitchen, it's beautiful, so light and bright. I struggled to find something even slightly critical to say, other than one of the pictures (with the dining table down one end and the toy boxes on the right) looked a bit empty, a lot of floor there.

Thanks for the feedback. We did have a rug and beanbags there - the idea was to have a play space in the kitchen so DS and friends could play whilst DH or I cooked. But the EA told us to take them up in case it wasn't a family with kids looking. Should I put them back for viewings do you think?

ocelot41 · 26/11/2016 21:23

Thanks for all the positive comments - I was feeling quite blue about having to be back on the market after the downward chain collapsed. Your comments have given me a lot of comments that the pics are good enough to get attention even at a perhaps not ideal time of year. So THANKS

TheWanderingUterus · 26/11/2016 21:24

Well, you are getting viewings so I really don't think it's a problem. I had to refer back to the floor plan to work out where it was and how big the space was, but I'm really tired!

Well good luck to everyone for the coming week!

TheWanderingUterus · 26/11/2016 21:43

It is a really nice house ocelot. I grew up 5 or 6 stops further down the London train line, so I know how close and convenient it is to the big London stations. I think you have just been unlucky so far.

I got some good gossip today about my catchment primary school. It has a great academic reputation and usually gets a lot of pupils into the two local superselective grammars. It looks like this year might be even better than last year when they sent 6, gossip says at least five girls and a couple of boys. Fingers crossed this gets people looking at catchment houses. I haven't tidied or cleaned today so Sod's law we'll get a phone call tomorrow.

Thanks Wandering - the house went in a week last time and chain breaking was to do with our buyers' buyers pulling out. Nothing to do with us.So yup, just got unlucky. Once more unto the breach!

Good news about catchments for you - schools are SO important! Hopefully that tips the balance. Is the deadline for primary apps mid Jan for you too? Should help

budgetsbonus · 27/11/2016 19:43

thanks for the replies to my comment despite it being very negative!

littlemiss, your house is really stunning, beautiful and bright. Ocelot, lots of space and stunning too. we are in the same situation then.

if its a slow time of the year and things will pick up in jan '17, do you think silly offers will be made as the buyers might think "they've been on the market a while, let's make a low but not quite silly offer" ?

we've had a viewing yesterday and one for tomorrow but they haven't got theirs up for sale yet. i'll cross my fingers nonetheless.

ocelot41 · 27/11/2016 19:49

I really don't know Budgets apparently the bit just before Xmas is quiet but Xmas and Boxing Day are the busiest times of year on Rightmove! So who knows really?

budgetsbonus · 27/11/2016 19:51

well done giraffes you must be ddelighted and good luck for your offer being accepted.
