Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support group?

Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support thread? We're selling and buying and it's so stressful!! We've found our 'dream house' and had an offer accepted, had an offer on ours within a week which was subsequently retracted. Wondered if anyone else was finding this whole process ridiculously stressful?

The hardest part of this whole chaotic few weeks has been relinquishing control. I think as I'm an organised person the knowing that something could be happening and wasn't was the worst bit. I, like you Anna wanted to go down there and sort it out myself. Oddly, once it was out of my hands it was easier to cope with the slowness and the hassles.

It's been a manic day packing up here. It takes far longer than you'd think, and I also now have several random piles of stuff that need to go in other boxes. I've amassed a collection of about 40 biros that I've emptied out of drawers, cupboards etc along the way! To quote Peter Kay, 'the pens I've had in this house!'
Dm has taken baby ds to hers for the night which is a massive help as he was just getting restless and attention- starved! Tomorrow I'm doing more of the same, plus beginning to make all the calls to companies to change our address.

Hi all, just a quick cheerio from me as our chain collapsed today. We're going to chill out enjoy winter and Christmas and regroup in January.

Best of luck everyone Flowers I feel strangely relieved (after sobbing for most of the day!)

AnnaELC · 08/11/2016 17:15

collie oh no that's awful news I'm so sorry.

AnnaELC · 08/11/2016 17:17

bear my solicitor and EA have told me I can't personally do any more than I have, so I've relinquished my vice like grip and asked them to just let me know as and when they have any updates. I still have an awful feeling about this and have from the very beginning. Good luck with the packing!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/11/2016 17:22

Collie oh no! You must be so frustrated! Hopefully the new year will bring a new chain and less of this runaround- you 've certainly had a stressful time.

Anna there probably isn't much more you can do, you've been very on the ball when others aren't, it's hard to relax the grip though.

Thank you bear I am intending on making my dh a nice dinner (he's home today) and relaxing for once.

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 08/11/2016 18:23

Oh collie Flowers for you. It's such a nightmare but you had doubts so you were right to worry I guess, small consolation I know.
Relax and enjoy Christmas and get back in it in the New Year. I'll still be here as I've agreed an early exchange with delayed completion in spring for my new place-if we get the mortgage and all searches come back.

I'm gutted for you. Sad

ApplesTheHare · 08/11/2016 18:37

Oh no Collie so sorry to hear that, what happened? I'm so gutted for you Flowers

gingercat02 · 08/11/2016 18:46

Hello All! I have read back but there's been so much going on. Just going to say good luck all and Woohoo Bear congratulations on the exchange.
Our moving day when very smoothly. Our old house completed at 10:10 and the new house at 11:50, so we were in by lunchtime. No major problems with the house, apart from the most revolting oven I have ever seen (the oven cleaning man was amazed. He couldn't find the light as it was so filthy and there was a charcoal sausage in a back corner)
We have so far unpacked 64 boxes and have a few more to go. Hopefully you will all be in your lovely new homes soon Smile Flowers Wine

CollieMonster · 08/11/2016 19:26

Well, no idea where EA and the buyers got their timescales but their solicitors finally admitted we were weeks off. And the issues we had involved the mortgage itself. Seems like the buyers had trouble securing it. Our solicitor advised us to pull out. Today I learnt that my solicitor was brilliant! She is a real gem.

I just hope they are ok. It's heartbreaking.

Anyway, it will be remarketed in January. And I desperately hope we have better luck in 2017. Smile

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/11/2016 19:39

Oh collie that's a real shame. I hope you are lucky next time and get your move in the new year. At least you were told eventually and can now refocus yourself for round 2.

Oh collie that's terrible, sending you all my best. Time to put your feet up and chill for a bit I think.

smallone · 08/11/2016 20:20

Aw Collie sorry to hear that, but pleased you've been put out of your misery so to speak. It sounds like if you hadn't pulled out, it would've been another stressful month or so and no-one needs that on the run-up to Christmas. I hope you have success with a new chain in the new year. (and I hope I'm not still on this thread by then... haha!)

Northumberlandlass · 09/11/2016 08:44

Thanks for the good wishes re show.

Collie - how bloody awful for you all. I sincerely wish you all the luck in the world come January.

Ginger - Sounds like it went very smoothly! I'm so pleased you are in & unpacking. Wishing you happiness in your new home.

I haven't got headspace for anything at work today Sad.
Had a call from EA last night saying crappy solicitor at the bottom of the chain has apparently chased local council for searches and they have assured him they will be in this week. I think they will tell me anything now...I have no faith left.

Mommasoph30 · 09/11/2016 09:55

Oh Collie that is awful, but i feel a wise decision, Look forward to seeing you update us all in the new year!

So close yet so far, we have proposed a date 4 in the chain happy with our seller is not,

Solicitor is going to push them today and say the rest if chain happy get on with it so to speak! Wouldnt mind if they bothered to offer an alternative date they could do!

Ill keep u all posted, its going to be a long day!

Mommasoph30 · 09/11/2016 10:02

Have been informed that our sellers won't budge on the dates suggested next week but everyone in the chain is pissed off lol.

Our solicitors are trying to sort it, again they havent even offered us with dates they can do, Why are people so obstructive!

Mommasoph30 · 09/11/2016 10:46

a date has been agreed but waiting on confirmation......................

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/11/2016 11:43

Soph that's great news! Have you exchanged yet?

OP posts:
Mommasoph30 · 09/11/2016 11:53

we should today! Just waiting lol ! X

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/11/2016 12:01

Hurrah! I can honestly say, once you've exchanged, moving house becomes a whole different animal. The relief is tangible. Good luck, hope it goes well.

How is everyone else today? Any news?

Our seller had a big Lorry on their drive today, which is good because it means my big Lorry will fit on Friday, and also because they are clearly getting on with shifting all their stuff out! It's really happening!!!!!

Mommasoph30 · 09/11/2016 12:56

Bear - we should be exhanging contracts tomo but a date has been agreed WHHAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

AnnaELC · 09/11/2016 17:28

Evening all, soph that's great news!
bear I hope the packing is going well.
one hope everyone else is ok. No news here Hmm

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/11/2016 18:48

Packing is going well but oh my days, it's a mammoth task. I reckon I need another 12 big boxes tomorrow and we're pretty much there. Once the kids go to school/mil tomorrow then we will be able to properly clear the decks, but there's a lot we can't do until then. I'm exhausted by it to be honest, but hopefully we will get it all done tomorrow and then just Friday's madness to deal with.
Just had to break the news to the children that the earliest date we can get a sky engineer to fit the sky dish is the 9th December. A month without sky. I don't know who is more upset, me or them!!!
