Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support group?

Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support thread? We're selling and buying and it's so stressful!! We've found our 'dream house' and had an offer accepted, had an offer on ours within a week which was subsequently retracted. Wondered if anyone else was finding this whole process ridiculously stressful?

Complete Friday! Moving company after promising to loan us boxes have now said they won 't be able to deliver them in time, so I'm now going on the beg at all our local shops!!
Eeeeek it's been a long hard slog but we've finally done it!!! So excited! And quietly terrified!
Good luck with your pestering today

Wow! You have given us all hope Bear Smile
Get packing!!

Mommasoph30 · 07/11/2016 12:35

Yeah you have given us hope, Try the local makets they gave us a load of boxes to be fair! X

NeversellahouseCollie · 07/11/2016 12:36

homebase give away big boxes :)

ElinoristhenewEnid · 07/11/2016 13:06

Just looked back at start of thread - best you started this on 12th August. Gosh what a 3 month journey! Congratulations on exchange!

ApplesTheHare · 07/11/2016 13:18

CONGRATULATIONS BEAR!!! It's so lovely to hear a positive story. Here's to your new home! If you have a Co-Op near you our local one has been amazing about giving us boxes. Tesco claimed they 'don't use cardboard any more' despite there being tons of broken down boxes cluttering up the dairy aisle

Collie sorry to hear you're still having such a nightmare, hopefully you'll hear more soon.

What do you all think about contacting buyers/vendors directly? DH is tempted to drop a note with our numbers on through the vendor's door so she can get in touch about the final legal queries holding up our exchange if needs be but I'm not sure it's a good idea...?

AnnaELC · 07/11/2016 13:24

YES BEAR Grin well done that's amazing news. I'm so please for you.

Our update... our buyers solicitors are still waiting on their copy of the mortgage offer, they have an email but need the posted copy. So the whole chain is just waiting on that... still.

collie I would be going down to the offices!

apples I very nearly knocked the door of our buyer last week, but FIL made me promise not to. So I've been harassing the EA instead. Seems to be working though, I've had 2 calls and an email from them today with no prompting.

NeversellahouseCollie · 07/11/2016 13:42

apples I think our problems would have been minimalised if we were in contact with the buyers. It's such a good idea! Unfortunately our EA refused to give our buyers our number. Hmm

Anna can't they exchange with a faxed copy of the full mortgage offer? Request one! I'm tempted to go down to the offices but I don't think it would actually help.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/11/2016 14:44

Elinor yep, we didn't actually start properly until September 5th when the chain was complete so it's been 9 weeks. Not bad going, but honestly, the most stressful 9 weeks of my life!! There were times when I thought we wouldn't see this day.

I'd imagine that the reason the EA didn't want you to talk to each other is exactly the reason why you want to talk to each other! Have you tried looking on Facebook if they have given you their names. The worst that could happen is you message them and they ignore you! I found my buyer on Facebook and we did exchange numbers when they viewed a third time after offering.

AnnaELC · 07/11/2016 15:19

Hi collie apparently not, my solicitor is going to press the issue if they don't have it by Wednesday.

Northumberlandlass · 07/11/2016 15:36

We had to wait for snail mail for the bottom of the chains mortgage offer too. We thought naively that would be the last delay...
Just had email from my solicitor forwarding a copy of my buyers solicitor, saying that there is still no news & they still await the searches (!) Angry hopefully no longer than 3 weeks. I could honestly cry.

NeversellahouseCollie · 07/11/2016 15:43

north thats awful. were you lead to believe that the searches were all finished?

anna fingers crossed it will
come in the post quickly.

im waiting for my EA to call. i sense bad news (well, more delays!) Sad he never knows anything for sure. its always assumptions

Northumberlandlass · 07/11/2016 15:47

Collie - yes, we were led to believe that the mortgage offer was the only thing outstanding. Now it has been 'indicated' that they are only waiting for searches.
The solicitor actually says in the email that it is pointless to discuss exchange & completion dates until he has confirmation all documentation has been received by the solicitor at the bottom of the chain. He is also not answering calls from my buyers solicitor.
The last line of the email is 'Thank you for your perseverance' Sad

Like you, I keep having a sinking feeling. At one point all I did was imagine myself living in that house, now I can't see myself ever being there! I might have a look at wallpapers to cheer myself up!

NeversellahouseCollie · 07/11/2016 16:03

north we are in the same boat. the outstanding mortgage offer has been faxed over this afternoon and now there is other outstanding shit to deal with.

i was promised last week that the mortgage offer was the final
hurdle.

Sad
Northumberlandlass · 07/11/2016 16:12

Everything is 'suggested' or 'indicated' nothing is ever confirmed! my EA hasn't been in touch today.
My solicitor just forwarded email on. I know they are frustrated too.
I have my tech rehearsal tonight & dress rehearsal tomorrow, I'm going to have to block the house out of my head & focus on show.

I also had initially got the kitchen booked in for 21 Nov, that was then put back until 5 Dec. Looks like it will be the new year now.
Do you think we'll look back at this one day & smile ?
No. Me neither! Wine

NeversellahouseCollie · 07/11/2016 16:37

apparently we are waiting for 1 search before exchange so i have pleaded / begged that we pay for indemnity to cover it.

i just want to exchange FFS! Sad

i doubt they'll allow it considering the EA didnt know it was an option.

AnnaELC · 07/11/2016 17:29

So all 3 of us are in exactly the same boat. I've just been told that although they said the mortgage offer for our buyers was the last thing... There's now 1 more thing as well. I'm ready to tell them all to f**k off to be honest.

NeversellahouseCollie · 07/11/2016 17:44

That's how I feel Anna

AnnaELC · 07/11/2016 17:54

collie I'm exhausted. I was just pondering whether to open the Wine

Arsenicinthesugarbowl · 07/11/2016 18:23

Great news bear!!! We shall complete on the same day.
collie I feel murderous on your behalf.
We are waiting for our mortgage offer currently but at least the selling but is almost over. Flowers and Wine for all and a big fat Biscuit to the delays for some of you on this thread.

smallone · 07/11/2016 19:21

north good luck with the show!
bear so pleased for you Wine
Sorry to hear about those of you being messed around. Fingers crossed for good news soon.

UnlikelyRunner · 07/11/2016 20:59

I'm really pleased to hear the happy news from those who've completed!

We were ready to go in August. Assured that the rest off the chain would be ready to exchange by end of Oct. Then early Nov. Now, the buyer at the bottom of the chain has pulled out. Give me strength! We have hardly any furniture anymore. Living out of boxes. And a minimum of 4 weeks to wait, crossing all fingers that no one else pulls out. I am beyond pissed off!

ocelot41 · 07/11/2016 21:38

Hi unlikely, me too! Offer accepted in August, assured everyone in the short chain wanted to be done and dusted by end of Oct. Endless, time wasting inquiries from our buyers' solicitor about pieces of paper we have already had. Just got ready to exchange - and our buyers' buyer has just pulled out. All. So. Stressful. Does anyone have experience of getting a chain back up once it's gone wobbly?

NeversellahouseCollie · 08/11/2016 07:37

Can anybody (including lurkers) tell me how long it takes to set up an indemnity policy for a missing local search (or similar)?

EA told me it would take a full day whereas my solicitor told me it should be pretty much instant. But it's the buyers solicitor that's sorting it and she won't tell us how long it'll take her to arrange.

Best of luck for today but I'm not expecting miracles.
