Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support group?

Would anyone like an 'in a chain' support thread? We're selling and buying and it's so stressful!! We've found our 'dream house' and had an offer accepted, had an offer on ours within a week which was subsequently retracted. Wondered if anyone else was finding this whole process ridiculously stressful?

I hope it works. Really surprised nobody mentioned emailing the amended offer. anna Lloyd's I think!

AnnaELC · 03/11/2016 20:47

Ok, ours was with nationwide and our buyers is Halifax, our nationwide one was emailed to start with and then in the post and the Halifax have agreed to email our buyers solicitor one over and follow up with it in the post. Let's hope lloyds agree!!

NeversellahouseCollie · 03/11/2016 22:09

Anna thank you so much! I didn't even know email was possible. I doubt my EA will give a toss but I can ask / plead / beg and find out. He is in direct contact with their mortgage advisor. (Allegedly)

ApplesTheHare · 04/11/2016 06:38

Collie Anna and bear I'm keeping fingers crossed for you today!

We're despately hoping our mortgage offer gets emailed today. It was agreed in principle 6 weeks ago and we submitted all the paperwork then. I'm so mad that we've stayed with Nationwide, are borrowing hardly any more and have a brilliant ltv but it's still taken them all this time. Our vendor's now threatening to pull out if we don't exchange asap Sad

AnnaELC · 04/11/2016 07:14

Morning apples I hope you get it today!!

collie hang in there today.
bear I really hope the exchange happens today!

Sending positivity to everyone - have a good day all.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/11/2016 07:35

Morning all. Good luck to everyone today!!
I'll update if I get the news I want- everything crossed!

Thank you all for explaining why our solicitor seemed slow, I was out the office yesterday. It would appear I'm old and can no longer cope with 18 hour days travelling.
Today our mortgage company is doing a valuation so I really hope things will move quickly. I thought we had a short chain and this would all be easy! - Husband selling his house to cash buyer who is purchasing for his Mum. We currently live in rented. We're buying a house that is empty as the owner has moved into a care home.
I'm too tired to chase anything today so I shall mainly sleep and hope things start to move along more to my pace next week, although from the sound of all of your experiences I may as well go to the off license and buy a litre of the cheapest vodka I can get my mitts on.

Northumberlandlass · 04/11/2016 08:27

Morning all, the weeks are going by and I don't feel any closer to exchanging.
Sending everyone my last bit of positivity....I wake up with a jump every morning, too much crammed into my head.

I can't imagine hearing much today - so I'm not getting my hopes up. I can hear my solicitor telling me that they'll need 5-7 after exchange to complete, so looks like next week is out too for completion even IF we exchange today.

I'm so sick of it. I found myself looking at photo's of the house I'm buying on line just to feel some love for it Sad

Hoping you all hear the news you want today.

NeversellahouseCollie · 04/11/2016 09:05

obviously we will have no news today and another weekend to get through. hate weekends at the mo as nothing happens.

Sad
AnnaELC · 04/11/2016 09:09

Hi North & Collie I'm thinking we won't hear anything today either - I can't believe another week has gone by and we are still in the same position. We signed all our contracts etc mid october and nothing has moved since then. I hope this mortgage offer comes soon.

NeversellahouseCollie · 04/11/2016 09:30

anna good luck! can you call the lenders directly again and tell them the chain may collapse if it isnt received today via email? Flowers

i HATE this. i have lost so much weight with worry.

Mommasoph30 · 04/11/2016 09:45

We had no update - hopefully will hear something today but Echo Colli - Another wasted week and dreaded weekend to get through,

I can't believe how tedious it is, even my most patient Hubby is getting frustrated.

Im hoping to have an update later - will keep you all posted.

Good luck everyone

NeversellahouseCollie · 04/11/2016 09:49

soph is it still the outstanding search they are waiting for? Could they get indemnity insurance to cover to search so you can all proceed with exchange?

Can't believe I just suggested an indemnity! What's happening to me? Blush

Northumberlandlass · 04/11/2016 09:56

My FTB is apparently waiting for an outstanding local search...but I don't believe it.

Collie - you have all the lingo and knowledge now!
I'm going to call mid afternoon and ask EA and solicitor for updates. But the only answer I get is, we chase every day.

I want to know if the EA at the bottom is passing onto the FTB how frustrated everyone is & asking her to chase her crappy yet apparently well respected solicitor.

Mommasoph30 · 04/11/2016 10:17

Yeah we are waiting on the Sellers Search to come back on the property they are buying, all our searches have come back Collie,

Solicitor says we have to wait until searches come back and even then there may be more queries raised! Its just so frustrating,
Would indemnity insurance still apply in this instance?

Cheers

Sophia

ApplesTheHare · 04/11/2016 10:24

Northumberland I bet your FTB is even more desperate than you are to move, and get onto the housing ladder, but probably a lot less well informed, so less likely to chase, etc.

smallone · 04/11/2016 10:31

Hi all, blimey you've all written a lot! It took two goes for me to get through it all

I can believe that Searches haven't come back yet, if there are anything like ours, the council told me themselves it takes 40 working days! Ridiculous. I was chasing in the beginning, but gave up when our buyer was in question, and now they were due this week, haven't heard yet, but the solicitor may have received them. Our council can expedite searches to take 5 working days, but it has to be requested by the same person who ordered them and it has to be the only thing holding up a completion. Might be worth a try for those of you stuck waiting? We've already told our new buyer that this will need to be done if we have any hope of completing before Christmas.

Calming thoughts to you all, and remember its nearly wine time Grin Wine

Northumberlandlass · 04/11/2016 10:50

Apples - our FTB is living with her mate in in rented accommodation, the mate is going to continue to live there so it feels as if she doesn't have a 'burning platform' or any sense of urgency.

I've emailed my EA and said an update by close of play today would be welcomed...although futile, I hate going into yet another weekend without news.

Every so often I get a sprinkling of excitement that this is actually happening and although it will take me a while to make the new house into my home, it will be worth it. I will be out of the 'family' home, reduced my mortgage and I'll have far more financial freedom. This WILL be worth it.

Bloody hell, did I actually sound optimistic there ?? Grin

NeversellahouseCollie · 04/11/2016 10:57

soph some indemnity policies cover missing searches. We had one when we moved in. But that was 3 years ago.

north you sound chipper!

Does anyone know if I can contact the buyers solicitors?

Northumberlandlass · 04/11/2016 11:00

I think I've had a funny turn.
OR I'm looking forward to going to a Terry De Havilland pop up sale on my lunch break..

Collie - I don't know re contacting your sellers solicitor as I guess they are only supposed to correspond with you via your solicitor. But as they say 'shy bairns get nowt' ...

AnnaELC · 04/11/2016 11:10

(group hug)

I've chased the EA yet again and told her firmly asked her to ring our buyer and get this fecking mortgage offer sorted asap or the for sale board is coming down and being rammed sindeways down her throat

I don't expect to hear back soon... I will chase before 5 tonight and then drown myself in more wine.

NeversellahouseCollie · 04/11/2016 11:27

I just emailed my EA.. His reply was pretty much "no idea. Couldn't care less. Have much more expensive houses to sell today. Thanks"

Mommasoph30 · 04/11/2016 11:43

TWATSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

We have heard nothing does my flipping head in GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

AnnaELC · 04/11/2016 11:54

I am so annoyed! If I was my buyer I would be chasing it every 10 minutes until it came - the EA has said our buyer chased it on Monday and was told she would have it by yesterday/today (its still not here)..... WTF - get on the phone and chase it. I've told her to ring her back and say we want it today.

My solicitor is going mad - the FTB at the bottom of the chain are now chasing her directly as well ( can't blame them really they have been ready a while and are at her Mums)

NeversellahouseCollie · 04/11/2016 12:27

Its a bad day for everyone so far Sad
