  • Bought in 2010 for £ 260 k
  • Sold in 2016 for £ 465 k
  • Increase of £ 205 k in 6 years
  • Location: West London (Zone 4)

Anyone else? It would be interesting to see the differences around the country. I realise I have benefited massively from the London property market, which is bonkers IMHO.

One pound five? You've got yourself a bargain. Or it's got serious dry rot.

Puppymouse · 27/07/2016 18:25

Not me, but one of my good friends recently sold her 1 bedroom flat up in the midlands.

Purchased in 2006, sold in 2016.
She made 10k on the sale price.
In Sutton Coldfield.
She had a mortgage on it so walked away with maybe 15k profit.
Now trying to buy a home in London with her OH.
No chance!

Completely different market and world compared with the insanity of London property prices...you lucky people!

Bought 1998 £200,000, sold 2004 £596,000.

Bought 2004 £600,000. Not selling but current valuations is at £1,000,000+ May not get that post brexit, who knows, but not selling for a long time so don't care.

redhat · 27/07/2016 18:58

Last house we bought for £220k in 2003 and sold for £410k in 2008 - its unrealistic to look at these figures though without knowing more information. For example in our case we built an extension and renovated throughout.

JennyOnAPlate · 27/07/2016 19:02

We bought 11 years ago in Birmingham and have just put our house on the market for 7k more than we paid for it. I don't think we're going to make much on the sale!

venys · 27/07/2016 19:05

Honeyandfizz · 27/07/2016 19:13

Turquoise that's not indicative of the area though as I sold a house 2 years ago for £395k that I had bought 3 years before for £295k in Sutton Coldfield.

2 bed purchased in 2008 for £175k, sold in May for £325k, that was South East London.

No mortgage but we do have to pay capital gains tax on the £150k. I've just purchased a 4 bed house in the North West for £175k.

Marmitelover55 · 27/07/2016 19:33
