  • Bought in 2010 for £ 260 k
  • Sold in 2016 for £ 465 k
  • Increase of £ 205 k in 6 years
  • Location: West London (Zone 4)

Anyone else? It would be interesting to see the differences around the country. I realise I have benefited massively from the London property market, which is bonkers IMHO.

onecurrantbun1 · 27/07/2016 23:10

East Midlands, small 3 bed detached,1970s build

Bought for £140k in 2009
Sold for £153k in 2015

We had a new bathroom fitted in 2010 (c. £5k) and the garden landscaped and new driveway in 2013 (c. £5k) plus the previous owner was an extremely heavy smoker and we left it lovely, so I feel that's pretty fair.

Just had a valuation. Bought for £440k in 2008, spent 150k on extension, current value £1.1m. Can't complain

ButtercupMeg · 27/07/2016 23:19

Bought 2011 140k sold 2014 180k. South east, broke the ceiling price in our road by 15k.

OhTheRoses · 27/07/2016 23:20

You don't really want to know

..... over 23 years we netted £3.3m after deducting expenses. Had to move out to renovate to 2015 expectations.

SW London. 50% risk/50% luck. 1992-2015.

Pigeonpost · 27/07/2016 23:29

Bought for £36k sold for £100k about 8 years later. No plans to sell anything anymore only buy to keep and rent out.

Bought 2005 £360k - did £100k renovations, just valued 2016 as £950k. North London zone 2.
But as much as that looks like an easy half mill profit in ten years, all the other places that we could move to in London which have one extra room (for our bigger family) but are one zone out (for economy) are now £1.2m+, when they used to be £500k. The extra profit would help the deposit but the remainder would be assessed on our salary, and we dont earn enough to increase the mortgage to the double it would take- so we are stuck. So it's not real money unless we leave London and our jobs and friends, never to return.

QOD · 27/07/2016 23:43

Sprog19 · 27/07/2016 23:54

Bought 2007 for £383,000. Just sold for £405,000 but we did accept a very low offer so we could buy the house we wanted at £395,000. Somerset.

South East London (some would say Kent)
Bought in 1999 for £165k. Valuation done last week, £725k

Summersalmostgone · 28/07/2016 08:18

London.
Bought for £256k in 2012, sold for £385k in 2015.

sm40 · 28/07/2016 08:24

South East London. 2003 got for £290k, spent £20k. Sold in 2013 for £490k. One estate agent said I wouldn't get more than £430k! Smug look everytime I walk past shop. Upped ceiling price in road.
Now think worth about £620k!

MissMargie · 28/07/2016 08:27

New build 3 bed detached bungalow 120,000 in 2005, now worth 145,000 according to local estate agent.

So that's 25,000 over 10 years. Rural Scotland.
