Hi, I know there's a sellers' thread, and a buyers' thread, but I am knee deep in trying to do both at the same time and starting to feel like my head might explode and not sure which thread to visit to beg for someone to send Wine Anyone else?!

OP posts:

OK. I have spotted something else that has just come back on the market. Chain has collapsed

It looks really good to me. Needs some remodelling but it's cheaper so we could easily afford all that and the mortgage would hardly increase. I'm going to see it on Saturday.

However, DH seems to be wanting to just go for a "forever" house now. Whilst I think this could make us some more cash - ok, I have to wrangle the builders. It has amazing original features.

I like the look of it a lot more than what I saw today. How do I persuade him Grin

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 07:20

I always get my way Gobbolin! Is your house on the market now?

HuckleberryGin · 26/05/2016 07:24

I want our forever house only because I never want to have to do this ever again!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2016 08:05

Photos on Tuesday puggy - mortgage sorted though.

That is a good point huckleberry!

This house is 3000sqf but DH thinks too small (Confused) and doesn't want semi-detached. Even though it is one massive house that has been split in 2

He is still hankering over the one with the dodgy vendor.

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 08:37

3000sq ft is a lot to clean Wink avoid dodgy sellers!

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 08:43

Don't think I need to do much mortgage wise as we are down sizing. When I spoke to Nationwide they said we can just port the mortgage over.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2016 11:03

I have firmly told DH that dodgy vendor house is off the market to avoid a situation like this in reverse - m.youtube.com/watch?v=h5KZgV3fkqE

TBH, DH is off on a 4 day stag do to Barcelona tomorrow leaving me with all 3 DCs. The two year old had a stinker of a cold and was quite feverish last night so I took her in with me in the spare room and had the baby too. I have a further 4 days of this and DH told me I should be "happy" for him that he is going away. My parents were meant to be coming but had to cancel as my Dad has a chest infection. DH is now back peddling furiously after I had very strong words with him. What a wally. So on the basis of that, I should get to chose the house.

I cancelled the viewing on the eleventy billion pound 1957 house as DD not well and what is the point as we won't buy it at that price. I don't want to be fanning the flames of any alleged price wars.

bexleyboop · 26/05/2016 12:27

Our buyers pulled out. Couldn't get finance because of their second charge. Beyond annoyed. The sellers of the house we wanted to buy have given us a weeks grace to resell before they put it back up on the market. Can't see it happening so I've mentally given up on it.

We've had 3 viewings since our house went back on the market on Monday, 2 offers, both 30k under the asking price!! There's cheeky and there's rude ffs...

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2016 12:53

Urgh - that is crap bexley

Flowers
puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 13:55

Ah, that's so bad Bexley. I'm so sorry.

Herschellmum · 26/05/2016 14:01

Hi all, can join in? Been looking get house up for over 6 months now. Then we had a water leak and that insurance claim is STILL ongoing. However it feels like the end is in sight and we are just weeks away form getting it up. Hubby and I are both perfectionists which is means we are never happy with any room and we know at some point w need to just say it's done.

We at downsizing I suppose, we have a massive house now with no garden, we want a garden and plenty of parking, that's the main aspects to my need list. This was a renovation project and it's been intense, I wouldn't mind another if the price was right and as long as the property wasn't this size.

Anyway, hi everyone, fingers crossed it goes smoothly for us all.

Mummyme87 · 26/05/2016 14:47

So our vendors have had an offer accepted on a house and their vendors the same with a vacant property so we have closed the chain. Yey! That is 5 people in the chain.

We will probably end up holding it all up as dealing with HomeBuy and paper work issues with mortgage brokers

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 15:22

Urgh, the property we are interested is likely to go under offer as soon as the people interested have a mortgage agreed. The other thing is the EA said the house is timber framed and Nationwide wouldn't lend but others will. I don't really want to start a new mortgage application really as I just want to port my mortgage over without being run through a mangle. We also have a lot of credit in cards which would be a pain. I have looked on the Nationwide lending criteria and it does say that traditional construction includes timber framed property if the outer walls are brick, stone or block. I am confused now but I guess I don't need to worry if it will be gone by the time I get back off holiday. My EA tried to get me to look at a bungalow in another village but I've done a drive by and it's definitely not for us at all. So frustrating. I haven't had feedback from Tuesday evenings viewing.

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 17:03

Had an email update from EA to say my second viewer is very interested but needs to get an offer on her property first. Her house won't be live until the end of next week though. I'm not religious, but am hoping the lord will move for me.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2016 17:24

Excellent Puggy. Fingers crossed. Same for you mummy

We are trying to get a viewing in the house the chain collapsed. Estate agent keeps saying he will call back. Last promised to call at 4:30 but nothing. I suspect some jiggery pokery and that we might be being used to get the chain moving again. Am not happy.

Hello herschel

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 18:13

Gobbolin your local EAs sound dodgy. I have experience of the ones I am dealing with and I think they're above board. There are a couple who I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2016 18:24

What would you do, puggy? I phoned twice today re: viewing on monday as, if not, we want to meet up with friends and their DCs.

I don't think I'll phone again tomorrow. Just make plans to go out.

However, woukd you say anything to them? Obviously I won't be rude

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 19:19

I think it's courteous if they keep in touch even if they say they can't get in touch with the vendor etc. I'd say sod them and take the kids out. Don't phone again. It's so damned difficult all this house hunting and selling.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2016 19:53

I won't. It's actually putting me off moving, TBH. Such a hastle when we don't really have to.

The other issue is that we would be moving from a guaranteed catchment area of a school that is outstanding - something like 14th in the country to one where the infants is outstanding but the juniors is just good - although I think they expect outstanding at next inspection. DH is now wondering if this is silly. Aaarrghhh

Poor little DD is really unwell. Has antibiotics but keeps being sick. DH leaving tomorrow at 5am and not back til Monday at 3. It's going to be a loooonnngg weekend.

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 20:28

Poor you, Gobbolin, you have your hands full. I am just looking forward to my holiday on Saturday and hopefully lots of viewings when we're away.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/05/2016 20:37

Have s lovely holiday puggy and hopefully all will fall into place whilst you are away

puggymummy1 · 26/05/2016 21:30

Thank you. I'll check in from time to time.

puggymummy1 · 27/05/2016 07:11

Am actually starting to panic that if we do get an offer there won't be anything to buy. Did some internet stalking research on the internet last night about eco house and found a Flickr album of its construction and it is wooden frame with panels (not a breeze block in site). I really don't want to start with a brand new mortgage. This may be why they've had three abortive sales in the last two years. This may be why the people who are going to be offering are still waiting about a mortgage for it. Argh. What will be, will be... Won't it?

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 27/05/2016 07:54

I know exactly how you feel puggy - the dodgy house is today now SSC. God knows what is going on with that. So glad we didn't make an offer.

I will see what is happening with collapsed chain house. If we can't get a viewing/don't like it, there is nothing in the market we see that we remotely like so we'll just stay here.

I'm intrigued with the construction of your that house. It sounds like something from New Zealand!

puggymummy1 · 27/05/2016 08:14

I suspect it's a European thing. I know the guy speaks French.
