Hi, I know there's a sellers' thread, and a buyers' thread, but I am knee deep in trying to do both at the same time and starting to feel like my head might explode and not sure which thread to visit to beg for someone to send Wine Anyone else?!

Great prices Velocity! I'd be drawn to the garden for the second one but prefer the house in the first option.

puggymummy1 · 02/05/2016 09:26

Right, tidy up time again for a viewing this afternoon. I'm not going to break my back just in case they don't show. I only cleaned on Friday so it can't be too bad. Husband cooking sausage and egg mcmuffins ago hopefully the smell won't put them off!

MightyMeerkat · 02/05/2016 09:48

Good luck with your viewing, puggy

I like the two houses, Velocity. The first one for the space and the second one for its location off the main road. I agree that maybe a leaflet drop might be a good idea if you're only looking at a few streets. I'm in Birmingham looking for somewhere to buy so not too far from you. There's nothing much for sale in my preferred location either so I've expanded my search area quite a bit. I'm hoping some more houses will come onto the market after this bank holiday weekend

SweetPeaPods · 02/05/2016 12:30

Good luck for your viewing Puggy.
We went to view a house last week and while we were there the owner was cooking in the kitchen. Cutting up some meat for the slow cooker. Why he couldn't wait 10 mins I don't know.

puggymummy1 · 02/05/2016 13:15

We are an egg mcmuffin free zone now. Almost finished tidying. EA called for feedback on the cottage we viewed and I hope he pushes to plus points to the viewer due shortly who is coming from a high value area.

bexleyboop · 03/05/2016 07:57

Still nothing from Connells about our offer, despite them definitely being open yesterday. Did have a phone call from the agent who showed us around basically trying to make sure we were "ok" - I sent an email stressing that we weren't happy with the way we'd been dealt with since declining their mortgage services and now I think they think we're going to make a complaint.

Which I probably will to be fair...

Hoping to hear they've accepted our offer today before all this Connells negativity ruins the house :(

puggymummy1 · 03/05/2016 08:26

Hope you hear today Bexley.

Jeremysfavouriteaunt · 03/05/2016 08:49

Bet the weekend dragged for you Bexley I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

puggymummy1 · 03/05/2016 11:30

Tidying again for a viewer today. No feedback from yesterday's viewing. Just noticed a load of cobwebs that seem to have appeared overnight, so off I go with the tickling stick thing. Am wondering if the grass is too damp to mow... Another viewing tomorrow but I have to leave early for work which means the dogs will be here when the agent shows the viewers around! I'm not going to lie. I'm fed up of cleaning - I would be a terrible obsessive cleaner. My back is killing me.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 03/05/2016 13:16

Cleaning for viewings is utterly tedious. I'm so glad that bit is over!

Have you heard anything yet bexley?

puggymummy1 · 03/05/2016 15:18

Last viewing tomorrow and nothing else booked in. I wonder if that's it. Hope I get some feedback soon.

velocitygir1 · 03/05/2016 17:32

I've got a cash buyer coming at 6 tonight...not received any feedback from 8 viewings!!!
Just been outside and my new drain is over flowing!!! Argh argh argh!!! I'm not a happy bunny!!!
Just called out a man with a rod lol!!!

Booked to see 4 houses on Friday afternoon-only time DH is free for a while...hoping by then we will have offers or sold so we can get the ball rolling...

I'm fed up of cleaning too...I stink of bleach and my eyes are stinging!!! My cleaner has let me down 2 weeks on the trot ( I'm not entitled I have M.S)

Bexley it sucks about Connells, I would so make a formal complaint!
Puggly good luck with viewings, hope you get more viewings and feedback.

puggymummy1 · 03/05/2016 17:48

Good luck Velocity - we were supposed to have a cash buyer but they didn't show. Are you with an agent?

velocitygir1 · 03/05/2016 18:56

Wow, reckon she was a landlord/buy to let...she was very business like-not friendly at all :-( in and out in 5 mins...that was horrid :-( She did say she would be in contact with the agent!?!

We are with an agent...they are a local one, independent only one branch. They seem to be pretty good.

Awww puggly I hate it when people don't turn up...we had one cancel but said he was going to call today to rearrange but nothing.

EA said we would have final offers by tomorrow...but that's not even been a week...I'm not sure how that works?!

No more viewings booked at all now and no contact with agents today.

puggymummy1 · 03/05/2016 20:13

How does the EA know you'll have offers tomorrow Velocity? I hope we all get some feedback soon.

velocitygir1 · 03/05/2016 21:21

I know puggy that's what I said...I think because so many people rushed to view it...they seemed confident there would be offers this week but unless he's got a crystal ball I struggle to see how he can be so sweeping in his statements.

DH just stated he is disappointed we haven't had any offers yet (bar crazy lady) I have to keep reminding him that it's only been on market since Thursday!!! Work half day Saturday, not open Sunday or bank hols it's very early days yet.

puggymummy1 · 03/05/2016 21:53

True, it's only been days. It feels like months already. I'm just tidying up after the teenagers and will get up early to make sure everything is as it should be before I go to work. DH is away, so no cleaning for him (not that he is that enthusiastic about cleaning for viewings mind). He's still grumbling about the EA fees but I just don't think I could do it without an EA tbh.

Mummyme87 · 04/05/2016 07:38

Good luck with any viewings anyone has over the next few days.

We were told we would be inundated with offers within a week of being on the market... No. We had about 8 viewings and two people made offers, one of which we accepted. And that was after 4weeks on the market. EA like to build you up at the beginning, sign the contract and that's it.

Since we had our offer accepted on Thursday and emailed solicitors letters, apart from sellers EA informing our EA, heard nothing. I would at least like the offer acceptance on paper 😳 Still getting papers ready for full mortgage application, issues printing my payslips at work and I need to write a letter as to why I have defaults on my account 5/6years ago

bexleyboop · 04/05/2016 07:44

Connells phoned yesterday, saying they rejected the offer but would maybe consider 1k extra... which seems an oddly small amount. Surely if they wanted to negotiate they would have gone to 5k more instead?! I don't trust connells as far as I can throw them - I think they want to persuade us to use their services still as you get "1k off the house price" as a buyers incentive if you do.

Think they've tainted the house now, we're back on a search.

BettySpaghettiHasLostHerHead · 04/05/2016 10:05

Bexley - why don't you drop a letter through the door to the owners and explain what is going on. They can kick Connells from their end (ie the end that is paying Connells - I presume that Connells are the estate agent?) - even if it doesn't work out for you it would save them losing out on other buyers.

bexleyboop · 04/05/2016 12:56

betty We've been thinking about a letter drop, but we don't know if it's them or Connells being awkward. DH has an appointment with Connells this afternoon in about an hour (he's had to take a whole afternoon off work to speak to them) so hopefully we'll have an idea of what's going on then.

Melawen · 04/05/2016 13:02

Hi folks! Can I join you? My house is sold STC (she wants a second viewing now - I'm hoping I don't need to be worried!).

Trying to find a house in the Southampton area and am just beginning to get the run around from Connells - yes they want me to see their mortgage advisor!! I've politely declined and we shall see what happens.

I do hate all this dashing and driving around - especially when I don't know an area (moving for work) and need to take time off work to look around as I don't want drag my year old DD around.

velocitygir1 · 04/05/2016 13:15

Hi Mel...and welcome :-) seems Connells make a habit of being a pain in the ass!!! I've not heard a good word for them.

I really hope you find a house with not too much hassle.

I've got another viewing booked for 6 on Friday...still no feedback.

velocitygir1 · 04/05/2016 13:24

Cash buyer isn't interested...too much work for her apparently... Hmm

Melawen · 04/05/2016 13:29

Oh my DD is four not one - I think a one year old wouldn't be at all bothered - a four year old is a different matter altogether!!

Well Connells have come back and said yea that's fine - no problem!!
