Here's mine . It's now white and moles bum or something - think that's what's in this pic - but previously was blue ... It's a family kitchen in our old cottage and it's just fine for us !

.. By the way - no penguins were harmed during that photo shoot !

Some amazing posts /pics so far on this thread ! Great idea OP !!

Love your kitchen OnePlan - in particular your grandfather/grandmother clock. I'm trying to design (well that's too fancy a word for it) a dining/garden/kitchen room around a grandfather clock.

OnePlanOnHouzz · 15/07/2015 19:39

Ah- thanks ! It's the heartbeat to our home !! Good luck with your designing !!!

didireallysaythat · 15/07/2015 21:45

The "designing" isn't going too well so far.... I thought the man from Howden's took notes but I've ended up with a plan for a kitchen with no fridge or freezer and two wine fridges when I wanted the firner two but not the latter... I fear I want to mix and match but that's not the rules he was playing to !

Oh I love threads like this one!!! Real property porn!! I'll share mine- new build house Dec 2013. I choose something completely different from the show house examples- the sales woman was very honest and told me 'she didn't think much of my choices' but I loved the dark wood and matches the doors through the house! Keep em coming ladies I love seeing beautiful kitchens

Ooh loving this thread, nothing like a bit of kitchen porn, so many lovely kitchens were
neighbours, glad you had a good experience with floor studio, when they did our wood floor in the kitchen
they, were complete & utter f**kwits
Sad would post pics, but have no idea how too Blush

Roastparsnip · 16/07/2015 17:09

This is mine. I've got 3 more weeks until the new one arrives.

Some of the kitchens on this thread are fab.

MrsFlorrick- very roughly it maybe worked out to £700-£800 a metre length. Hard to say with upstands etc. I had very similar quotes for engineered Quartz. You could try approaching this stone yard as I think they have their own stonemasons www.stoneworldlondon.co.uk. If you're ever in London you're welcome to have a look at our worktop.

MrsFlorrick · 16/07/2015 22:56

Dontcallmemelen. Shock I'm sorry to hear that! I have used them twice and for an entire ground floor of a house.

I do some interior design work and regularly recommend them to clients. Yikes.

What happened? And we're they unwilling to fix the issues?

MrsFlorrick · 16/07/2015 22:57

Watergirl. Grin That's very kind of you.

Thanks for the information re price. I will have a look at that stone mason.

etoiledemer · 17/07/2015 09:11

Watergirl, your kitchen is AMAZING! Where did it come from and did it cost a fortune? That's marble on the breakfast bar, right? What are the other worktops? Sorry for all the questions but I am blown away by your lovely kitchen!

Love yours too, OnePlan. You have lots of lovely things. Envy

Lots of lovely kitchens here but these are my very favourite. Great thread.

etoiledemer · 17/07/2015 09:16

Watergirl, sorry, I have now read up-thread and found most of the answers to my questions!

dontcallmelen · 17/07/2015 16:57

Mrs F they laid oak engineered flooring, when i got home just as, they were finishing up, you literally bounced up & down on it, they tried to tell me it would settle down, rang the manager, who came out to have a look, agreed it was a rubbish fit, sent out the same two fools to relay it, still bouncing up & down on it, manager looked again, said it wasnt their fault & refused to take up & relay, upshot was after a great deal of arguing etc we ended up, having it relaid by another company, who said the underlay was fitted really badly, hence the ripple & bounce effect, their attitude was disgraceful, very rude & quite threatning when i refused to pay the balance of payment, ended up paying in full, as the manager/owner? was so imtimidatingShock so not a pleasant experience.

audrey01 · 17/07/2015 18:28

Gorgeous kitchens everyone!
OP - if you need one more source of inspiration, here is ours - we went for a minimalistic one that combines two colours: off white matt with walnut brown.

Dontcallmelen. ShockShockShockAngry
That's awful!! And utterly unacceptable.
I'd be furious if that happened to me.

Wow. Was this recently?

dontcallmelen · 19/07/2015 21:30

Mrs F it was about 3-4 years ago
maybe they have different manager or owners since?, it really was a very unpleasant experience.
Sorry for de-railing thread with my tale of woeBlush

etoiledemer · 20/07/2015 09:06

Watergirl, I do have another question: what are your worktops? Are they durable. The white looks lovely against the dark blue.

Tizwozliz · 20/07/2015 21:57

I keep thinking of this as my 'new' kitchen despite the fact it's over 3 years old now. Lots I'd do differently now, but at the time we had a limited budget (3k) and needed to get the work done asap.
