The units are broadoak painted from DIY kitchens. Colour is f&b light blue. It sways between the blue grey green spectrum throughout the day. We love it. When picking off a sample card we had gone with skylight but seeing it on a door made us realise it was too pale and pushed us towards 'light blue' (it isn't really light blue but that's f&b for you!) The worktop is white quartz. I can't remember the name. It isn't silestone but something similar (maybe quartzforms?) The supplier we went with (who sold abour 10 different brands) implied that the make up of the worktop was similar from all the companies it was more the customer service from the more expensive companies was better if there was a problem. I decided it wasn't worth paying the premium for what essentially was an insurance!

We are just coming to the end of our build. We have moved out kitchen to the ground floor, by knocking through the study and utility, and adding an extension.

The new kitchen just needs the glass splashbacks to be added - this week, yeah!

Here are some pictures so far:

This is the dining area, in the new extended area.

My favourite thing is my pastel blue retro Smeg fridge - I had to have he rest of the decor based round it :)

We have gone pretty modern with the high gloss curved white and solid oak worktops, with just a slight retro leaning with the fridge, and the style of the sideboard, etc.

The new utility is in the back of the garage - we have just shortened the garage, adding a new wall - the last image is the utility. This matches the kitchen but is the slightly cheaper version of the units and the worktop is oak laminate, not sold wood.

The old kitchen in now a study/snug. DD spends a lot of time in there as we have put a TV in. And she to choose to have the end wall decorated using a full wall mural to make it look like she is looking out onto NYC.

shinysparklythings - what is your worktop made out of? It's really pretty. And where was your kitchen from? I'm looking for something very similar (but with white doors I think)

littlem133 · 12/07/2015 20:48

Ooooh - in fact handleless white doors like yours Hulababy!

I know this is cheating as it's the catalogue pic of my kitchen, not my actual kitchen... But it's exactly the same with the same cupboards & oven - and kettle & food mixer actually - apart from that my walls are bright pink..

Hulababy · 12/07/2015 20:53

Apparently when you want handleless ones you have to search for J handle kitchen doors.

Ours was from Howdens though.

Hulababy · 12/07/2015 20:55

penguinsaresmall - I like that retro look; bet it looks great

shinysparklythings · 12/07/2015 20:57

littlem the worktop is silestone, it's like a white sparkly granite composite. Our kitchen was done with the house as its a new build.

Marmite where is your glass splash back from and how much was it? Love it.

justaweeone · 12/07/2015 21:52

MrsFlorrick, we live in a former chapel as well!

MrsPJones · 12/07/2015 22:07

Mrsflorick and marmite could you tell me what flooring you have and where you sourced it? Thanks.

Heresmykitchen · 12/07/2015 22:11

Mrspjones. Mine is a rustic brushed and oiled oak 180mm wide. Mine was supplied and installed by Floor Studio in Beckenham.

Plenty of similar types around. Shop around because prices and quality varies enormously.

Marmitelover55 · 12/07/2015 22:55

runrun the glass splash back is from:

Marmitelover55 · 12/07/2015 22:58

MrsPJones our floor was from:
bristolwoodfloors.com/
Think the brand name of the actual floor itself was Natures Own and it's UV Lacquered engineered oak.

My kitchen is similar to justaweeone's. Hardwicke White units with honed granite. Made by a local cabinet maker to emulate Plain English.
I love your tongue and groove splashback. I have the granite upstand but haven't decided what to do with the walls yet. At the moment it's just painted with the builders bog standard white paint.

PigletJohn · 12/07/2015 23:56

this was the previous house, as a work in progress

the best bit was certainly the walnut doors and the pan drawers. With some difficulty (now discontinued) I have managed to get almost enough doors, plinths, cornice etc of the same range, and have started doing the current house, though some of the units will have to be made to order.
