The 350k thread was interesting but it made me wonder about the cheapest and most expensive houses on offer, so what are they where you live?

lowest

highest

Not where I live (not wanting to out myself) but where a friend we visited recently lives.

Not posting houses as I don't want to out myself, but within a square mile we have properties ranging from £125k for a 2 bed terrace to £1.2m for a six bed detached.

TalkinPeace · 30/12/2013 16:43

I used a 5 mile radius Grin

Mintyy · 30/12/2013 16:49

I read that piece by Chris Evans. Does he think he is so important that he shouldn't have to register his name and address if he wants to go and look at a property, just like every other punter would have to?? Twerp.

Turquoisetamborine · 30/12/2013 16:54

Not good at links but there is a £4million pound house in Corbridge at the top end, discounting the POA properties.

Then several terraced houses from £15k at the lowest end if the market in Gateshead. Good investment properties.

I used a ten mile radius.

SteeleyeStan · 30/12/2013 16:59

Within a mile of where we're buying:

  • £2,950,000 Detached "villa" with 5 beds, gym, pool, large grounds etc. Looks quite boring imo and overpriced, considering that the next highest price is a similar property asking for £1,000,000 and many asking for less that I'd consider much nicer.
  • £50,000 2 bed end terrace, no garden but a tiny backyard, and on a bit of a dodgy street. Actually doesn't look too bad at all, so I'm not sure why it's that cheap.
Norudeshitrequired · 30/12/2013 17:01

If I use a 5 mile radius, then the cheapest is a 2 bed terrace for 60k and the most expensive is a £6m 6 bed detached that looks like a footballers pad.

MirandaWest · 30/12/2013 17:02

Have done 5 mile radius

Cheapest

Most expensive

HermioneWeasley · 30/12/2013 17:06

Miranda, the second property is gorgeous And seems a bargain at £2.5m for all the space.

MirandaWest · 30/12/2013 17:08

If we all chipped a bit in we could share it :)

I'm surprised, actually, although I suspect the pricier places are further out of the city.

Lowest: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-42147061.html

It'll go for more than that, though, so the next cheapest is a 1 bedroom flat for 5k more.

ComtesseDeSpair · 30/12/2013 17:16

Cheapest: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-41024074.html

Most expensive: www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-35439103.html

Surprised that the most expensive is less than a million - have seen similar houses sell in the past for several times its price. DP and I have been debating for ages whether to buy the cheapest one and do it up either as a little gettaway for us or an investment but the village it's in is utterly desolate and I reckon the house would end up being a damp money pit.

lalalonglegs · 30/12/2013 17:22

£12.5 million

£575k

TheRaniOfYawn · 30/12/2013 17:23

Within a mile of my house the cheapest was £120,000 and the most expensive was £1.35 million.

openerofjars · 30/12/2013 17:30

You know when you look at a place and think, "You know, I couldn't even afford their sitting room curtains"? Sigh. Some of these houses are like something from a dream: I just cannot imagine ever being able to live like that.

On the other hand, some of the cheapest ones make me feel so lucky.

Most expensive is 2,250,000 for a ten bed grade 2 listed, 15th century home set in 4 acres.

Cheapest is 120,000 for a 3 bed semi. But I dont think you can live in it. Says no internal viewing and let by way of a protected tenancy.
next cheapest is also 120,000 but this is for a 1 bed cottage.

ignoring shared ownership ones coming in at about 85,000 for a house.

contortionist · 30/12/2013 17:39

In my postcode area:
Cheapest is a 312sq ft studio flat for £170k
Most expensive is a 3423sq ft 6-bed semi for £3.25m

TalkinPeace · 30/12/2013 17:48

Mintyy
I know people who saw it happening : best cabaret in Lymington in years.
He was pretty reasonable. The estate agent was a twit.
But that house is built AT sea level .... one or two storm tides and its worth less than £15m

JumpJockey · 30/12/2013 17:50

In my city: most expensive £2.5mil www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-43175012.html?premiumA=true
