Thought I'd better start a new thread... :)

Monkey, the women normally win on location, not that that it is particularly scientific.

Hope you find another more sensible buyer DL.

Monkey - with our first buyer the wife and 5 kids absolutely loved the place. They viewed three times and he still wasn't convinced. Eventually, he offered and made it clear that he didn't like our house and was only buying it for his family and then pulled out just over a week later with "personal problems". I hope she left him!

Heard nothing re the mortgage. I know they have the payslips and the survey is on Friday. Should I be doing anything else to speed it up? I wonder if they'll write for the employer references soon.

Ugh dog, that's horrid. That's why I quite like this system - all offers are signed and forwarded and legally binding subject to conditions, as long as they are agreed by both parties.

We have a bankers valuation inspection tomorrow, and then survey thurs. eek.

Hi all, just stumbled across this thread during another sleepless night with houses whirring through my head!

I've just agreed a sale on my house, they want it within 4-6 weeks! My head is spinning with what I need to get done! I'm moving into temporary accommodation whilst looking for another house.

Feel mixed emotions as this house has been my oasys for a long time and anxious for the future.

Ok - after freaking out over lack of viewings, there are two booked for today. Am crossing all digits and praying that I get an offer......

Please send positive vibes!

Things seem to have slowed down with us, no new viewings booked in the last few days, which is a bit disappointing. One of our viewers has given feedback that they might be back for a second look, despite me messing up the viewing, invited them in then my brain froze and had no idea what to say next, made for a very awkward moment!

We can't even work out where we want to house-hunt yet, we went to have a look at some in Stoneleigh/Ewell, but DP doesn't seem too keen having been to see it. Need to find some mythical place which isn't too far from London, has good schools, has a nice villagey high street with cafes but not too far from a bigger town centre and has reasonable prices. That's not too much to ask is it?

Yay finally another viewing as not had any for two week. Now cleaning frantically. Hope the sun shines! [Smile]

herewegothen what are you looking for? Come see our house in Epsom!! Smile

3 or 4 bed with a decent garden and in catchment for good schools up to about 450 - I fear DP will never be happy with the Epsom area though, even though it ticks lots of practical boxes. And I'm afraid 'not right next to a train line' would probably be on our list of requirements too!

HereWeGo - you ought to have bought my house in Olney!

Good luck to everyone who has viewings - may the sun shine for you :)

Nothing much happening here, although it appears that the survey on the house I'm buying (scheduled for Friday) has not actually been confirmed as their system shows that they still need permission from the vendor even though their EA has confirmed. That needs sorting as it will affect my mortgage application.

herewego the train line is right next to us but the trains are slowing down or speeding up or slowing down when they go by us so we don't notice them anymore. If you're looking for somewhere that is close to the station for commuting then its more than worth it!

Whats your budget and I could suggest other areas, been looking around here myself although I think we might relocate to Buckinghamshire instead

HereWeGoThen · 16/04/2013 16:29

Think Olney is a little lacking in train-station! We're also looking more south of London than north, due to DP's job.

I think it's probably true that if you live next to a trainline then you do get used to it and after a while don't notice so much, but DP wants the peace and quiet (especially after years of living under one of the main Heathrow flight paths..) Plus it does make it harder to sell, as it sounds like you're unfortunately discovering..

Might have a look at Ashtead or Bookham, or maybe Guildford though the good places are a bit far from the station there.

Herewego you should research train noise, I have recently since finding a house we love next to the planned HS2 route, train noise is far less affecting than traffic from cars or flight paths!

If you want somewhere quiet I understand but I would suggest that if you see a house you like which is next to a train line, you try and visit it when a train is going past and you will see how much it really impacts it. We were quite lucky as when I did the viewings on Saturday the train went past when people were there and they actually turned around surprised when I pointed it out. No-one from the weekend has commented on the trains either!

herewego check out Tadworth, that has a nice little high street with a cafe and a nice shop, its much quieter but still has a trainline, could work for you?

CuddyMum · 16/04/2013 17:21

Loads of commuters live here and get the train from Milton Keynes, Bedford or Wellingborough :)

I'm not a train person though - I love to get around by car.

My buyers are coming around at the weekend to have a look at the fixtures and fittings! I think I definitely ought to clean up. I'm so nervous... only because they can still pull out. I mean, they might come and change their minds Confused

Sounds to me like they want to spend the weekend looking round the shops Cuddymum which would be a good sign that they are still enthusiastic?

We go on Rightmove tonight and agent has booked a viewing for next week already which is good.

Have spent afternoon fretting because there isn't anything that we really want to buy in the location we want at the moment.

Keep strong doglover... This could be the one!

Am letting my husband do the fixtures and fittings tour with the buyers and I'm going to bundle sulky teenage girls and the dog into the car! Just need to retrieve a copy of the fixtures and fitting list back from the solicitors as I can't remember the prices!!

Good luck to all those with viewings
Cuddy sounds good they are def seeing it as home now Grin
Our buyers are coming for a 2nd viewing as they'd really like to see it again as they'd only been here for 20mins before they offered. Got me worried but agent assures me that they are really excited by the house and are actually worried at being gazumped after they heard we had a higher offer.
We've got a day of viewings down where we're relocating booked for tomorrow including one that's way over our budget but we think it's very overpriced - they seem to be trying to make a huge profit on what they bought but in a terrible market Hmm also found out it's owned by the EA and has been on the market for a year so have no idea what that means.
Fingers crossed we'll find something decent or even just bearable.

CuddyMum · 17/04/2013 19:05

Interesting Wonky! Owned by the EA. If you like it, just offer them what you think it's worth. Happy hunting :)

Good luck with finding somewhere Wonky. We viewed quite a few last week and found two we really loved. Crossing our fingers no one else comes along before we get an offer on ours.
Cuddy - I'm sure your buyers won't change their minds. They will love your house even more than ever!
