I am proud to present my first slightly dodgy Rightmove find on MN Grin it looks so normal from the outside, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors Hmm

I offer you columns.

marriedinwhite · 27/08/2012 21:12

They all look nice from the outside, none of them look as though they have any structural troubles and if they are in good locations and the prices reflect the updating that needs to be done it just needs a bit of vision. If the houses can be picked up for less than it would cost to put them right (and they all look entirely livable in whilst cosmetic work is done) and if once put right they would command a premium I would pile in. What were well presented properties going for at the peak of the market; has there been a significant reduction; is the location such that they will be the first to a pick up when the market moves?

My first flat was tangerine, lime green, turquoise and pink - and had glass and teak panels with a hatch from the kitchen to the sitting room (vom) and swirly, greasy carpets. Paid £30k ish in 1982. Painted it cream and put in a modest kitchen and bathroom, laid neutral carpets and dressed the windows. Sold it for £95,000 in 1987. It had been on the market for 18 months and everyone, including my mother and closest friends said I was bonkers.

Wasn't in Chigwell though Grin

marriedinwhite · 27/08/2012 21:14

mummydoit that really is gross but would have its place in Chigwell.

I love the columns house, why the hell would you put Southfork columns on your house like that?

I bet that gaff is owned by a builder with delusions of grandeur.

saintlyjimjams · 27/08/2012 21:22

I have just choked at the columns house- that is hilarious wtaf?

thenightsky · 27/08/2012 21:23

Port Talbert... isn't that where all the flooding was a few years ago? Great place to buy a half-sunken house then!

MarthasHarbour · 27/08/2012 21:24

Fuck me, I wouldn't live in Redcar for any money. Especially not in that house.

And there is a Magnet kitchen in there. Magnet are bastards.

GetOrfMoiUsain · 27/08/2012 21:26

Where is Redcar then? I assume Nottingham way.

GetDownNesbitt · 27/08/2012 21:27

Nah, it is in Cleveland. It is Middlesbrough by the Sea

RandomMess · 27/08/2012 21:28

Cleveland doesn't exist, remember Grin

GetOrfMoiUsain · 27/08/2012 21:28

Oh.

What a dunce I am. Grin

GetDownNesbitt · 27/08/2012 21:29

It does in their hearts, RandomMess

I am a big fan of stone floors, even in the UK, but they have a slightly worrying clinical look about them. They do seem to have a slight obsession with hoseable surfaces - perhaps they have an incontinence problem.

As for the bedroom...Shock WTF? It looks like the cabin in a narrow boat.

It's Rosie and Jim's house isn't it?

iknowwho · 27/08/2012 21:34

What a nasty mean spirited thread.
I hope who ever lives in these houses doesn't see this thread.

The thing about having your own house is that you decorate it to a style that you feel comfortable. These people haven't put their taste on the internet to be mocked.

Horses for course and all that.

ninah · 27/08/2012 21:35

I like house one and I love the tiled floors. I have quarry tiles downstairs, with a few rugs, really like it

GetOrfMoiUsain · 27/08/2012 21:37

Don't worry, the people who own those houses are too busy learning about swagged curtains and tongue and groove trends to ponce about on MN.

iknowwho · 27/08/2012 21:41

So that makes it OK then GetOrf

I would feel humiliated if my house was mocked like this by a load of strangers in such a public way.

emsyj · 27/08/2012 21:46

I have decorated my house as I choose, and other people's opinion of it doesn't really matter to me tbh . As others have said, the house I've posted looks suspiciously like it has been created by designers, so I can't imagine they would be too upset by me not liking it either. I'm just a pleb with no taste, after all. And lots of people have said they love it.

GetOrfMoiUsain · 27/08/2012 21:46

I don't care, frankly.

Bintang · 27/08/2012 21:48

I love that Wirral house!

WetAugust · 27/08/2012 21:57

I can't imagine actual people living in some of these Confused

tawse57 · 27/08/2012 22:00

Is it 207?
